i'm relatively new to eve, with a mere 900k skill points. i'm running lvl III missions in a ferox and doing well. however, i'd like to mix it up and run some player courier missions. i fly an iddy III and have done some of these missions in high sec. the pay for these is petty. for any that are decent pay, there are low sec. stations involved. examples would be: 52xx-k, cdc refinery, y-4cfk, blackpool tower, ascn ghz, and the strip bar at the bottom of the universe.
my question is this.... i could take these missions, but will i have my arse handed to be on a platter and lose my ship, the cargo, and my colateral???
any input on this would be great. thanks!!!

Almost none of the player courier missions I've seen looked like they were worth the time, let alone the risk.
But I'm more of a newb than you. Pralay |

there are some of us that allocate high sec movements of minerals or low sec (the staions u mentioned are 0.0 and unless u have docking rights) u will no doubt be handed on a plater.
If low sec scout and anything with collateral over 200% leave it also if it pays less than 250k a jump forget it as well sa u will need to use a scout.

Good player courier missions don't tend to stay on the list very long. On the few occasions that I've wanted stuff to be moved, careful choice of the reward and volumes has meant that the missions were taken quite quickly.
This leaves the rest of the missions on the list, which I think is why people get the impression they're all awful.
In answer to your question about arses and platters, I'd say yes. A lot of missions taking you to 0.0 are scams: the destination will be an outpost or player-controlled station at which you cannot dock. You will not get your collateral back and will fail the missions. Alternatively (and this goes for low-sec destinations sometimes, too) there will be unfriendly people at your destination who will shoot your hauler. Again, say goodbye to your collateral.

The worthwhile missions are taken quickly. Scams linger for much more until they're taken or expire.
You'll have the same limitations in lowsec/NulSec as every other pilot too. You lose the parcel, you lose the collateral. --*=*=*--

your responces are pretty much what i expected to hear, however needed some reassurance..... "the rookie in me". thank you all for your input.
to further the question, does anyone know of/hear of.... independant folks doing contranct hauls outside the courier mission database?? this is something i'd like to explore... find someone/a corp, that need a hauler from time to time, and just contact your hauler instead of using the mission system?? trustworthy, fast.... sounds like a niche.....

Well trust is the big issue there with high value items and the fact that a lot of corps also maintain alts specifically for couriering items without painting a big target on themselves. Those starter/small corps seem to have a strangely high proportion of freighters don't they?

frigether pilots in noob corps or small corps of course are big alliance alts in most cases - why because als allow this to happen its within the rules so not many issues there either.
