Hey all, I'm looking to use a BS in PVP.
With the new T3 BS's coming out I want to make sure whatever ship I buy has a role and can stick around for a while.
All i want to know really is for PVP (well piracy) which of the two of these is most usefull?
My skills are pretty poor and I'm looking to Gate-snipe out of sentry range and belt pirate. Any ideas on what to use? Any ideas would be good, I dont really want to have a useless ship though that gets phased out by the next tier one.

For gatesniping, you want as much damage as possible, so geddon all the way. Apoc is more for lasting. Speaking of the new tier 3's, the new Abaddon looks to have the best dps for gatesniping by a very large margin...

Oh and jim is clueless on the subject.
depends abit on your skills really. for long range its easier to setup a apoc for sniping.

The Apoc makes a better gate sniper because it has a slightly better alpha (1 more turret).
For belt piracy in gangs both can work well. Nos Apoc (4 HN + 4 MP) is a common tanking setup, or the Geddon can put out more DPS if you need a damage dealer.
I wouldn't solo in either, but it's your ship.

Apoc makes a good heavy tackler too.

Apoc is by far the best tanker and has enough grid to fit the extra turrets for long range sniping. geddeon has great DPS with named gear, I have also seen a Smartbombibg geddeon which is a the bomb for gate camping passer bys (u'll need to tank the sentries 4 that though).
In both cases, one advise always applies!! DO NOT FORGET CAP INJECTORS AND RELOAD BOOSTERS after A FIGHT! :) Cap is the life of a ammar ship.
Hope this help

Thanks all, Im going for a sniper setup geddon.
And i'll be sure to throw in a cap booster, I figure i'll be able to get off an extra volley of tachs more often then the 1 extra shot. Now... if anyone wants to donate some equipment to go on it that'd be nice =)

Edited by: Keta Min on 18/08/2006 18:34:22 for gatesniping you have to choose alone or in a group with multiple snipers.
alone you really need that arty alpha to kill smaller stuff like haulers more reliably in 1 volley before they warp, so tempest or mael if you want, when it's out.
in group though you will have enough dmg to kill bigger and slower ships like BCs and BSs so geddon or the upcoming abbadon for that because you will generally get off 2-3 volleys on them with lasers resulting in much more dmg than with arties in that time period.
keep in mind though that if some stuff the devs are toying with, like splitting sensor boosters into range and locktime, gets implemented lowsec sniping will become a thing of the past.

The Abaddon will take over the roles of both the Apoc and the Geddon (serriously now, it has a resist bonus, and a huge ROF bonus with one more turret). The lack of a laser capacitor usage bonus won't really change that, the geddon can hardly hold its cap either.
As for among the current ships, I think for PVP the Apocalypse is completely useless, the geddon of course is very nice.
