Is there any reason to train multitasking past level 1?
It would seem not.
According to the description of targeting and multitasking, both give you +1 targets to lock up to the max of your ship.
You start off being able to target 1 ship, add +5 for targeting lvl 5 and +1 for multitasking 1. This would allow you 7 targets.
Are there any ships that allow more than 7 targets? I don't think there is.
So, there really would not be any reason to train multitasking beyond lvl 1.
Am I missing something?

Nevermind.
After looking further along I found out that there are indeed mods to increase the max targets of a ship which in turn would require multitasking to be increased as well.
Carry on....nothing to see here.

small detail I guess, but you can target 2 things without targeting
- It is much more efficient to talk to yourself in person than via the chat system.

The skill only pays if you have a ship with reason to target friends and foes. Hence the logistics and command ships which may be repping friendlies and drones mid-fight.

Destroyers and Combat recons also have >7 targets. At least, the Caldari ones do.

Wow. I wasn't aware of that.
If that's the case then the skill definitely makes sense for logistic pilots.
Thanks for all the responses.

My Combat recon ship has +10 target capable system.
Also note that with Targeting 5 you can target & lock up to 7 items -- only 2 when you don't have the skill. So i have Multitasking @ lv3 to cover ships that can lock up to 10 targets.

I have multitasking at 3 because I wanted all the electronics skills, and training to 3 took a minimal amount of time ;).
Scorp +4 signal amplifier IIs can do 11 targets, anyway ;)

The apoc can lock 8 targets too ... I trained Multitasking to 1 just to be able to lock 4 roids and 4 rats (when they pop) on my mining apoc
