I'm trying to recruit new players but it's very difficult for them to see what rewards they will get for signing up. Please clarify the rewards up front. Everyone thinks you just want them to sign up before they see what the rewards are and what good they will do them. |

Hello Ronald,
I don't think anyone at CCP could really fully meet this. I'm just going to ask this question then voice my opinion on the subject.
Question: What rewards are you referring to?
I will just say what I think about and this in no way reflects anything but my own opinion. Everyone in the game plays for their own rewards and their own reasons. Which is why there is no "up front rewards" that people see. Some players play for the community aspect, some play to just relax and do things like industry which people can get into fairly quickly but depending on your ambitions could take a little bit of time to become an industrial empire , some love the combat aspect (as they see on videos and game blogs) and want to get in on that. Sometimes people play just to think of innovate ways to play in a sandbox. Sometimes you never know what your rewards are till you play EVE. I didn't know I wanted to be an ISD member till I saw what it was about and luckily was accepted to ISD.
The rewards are different for each person which is what makes the sandbox a great thing. Granted yes it's harder to say what "rewards" come with it but the rewards is what each person sets them to be.
Again this is my own opinion and not reflective of anyone else.

Youtube....
Loads of awesome video's about the game.
Buddy invite trials
Give them 21 days of free account, if they like it and subscribe...you get a bonus too.
p.s. CCP can never list any rewards because of the sandbox nature of the game.
Each player carves a different path and ends up in a different situation then any other player. For each player the reward will be something totally different and completely personal... Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

You get to "wear" a flag next to your name with other people who may or may not be like you... you get your own "super sekret" chat room with said people... you can make medals and hand them out (for a 5 million ISK fee) to make yourself and everyone else feel important... etc.
Then there is a plethora of secondary benefits. - you can set up a shared corporate hanger (be careful who you give permissions to and what you put in them). - you can set up a Player Owned Starbase at a moon (for industry, research, or war purposes). - you can declare war - you can set a tax rate and collect money that can be used for socialist corp-wide purposes Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

On the launcher there is an advertising banner that shows news about a 10% PLEX sale, Oceanus talking points and an advert for "Free Ship and Discount" for new subscribers. When you click on that you are sent to a screen that promises "Multi-Month Discount, Free Ship and More..." This sounds like an "up front reward" to me.

I, the OP, intended to get clarification on the CCP posted offer of a Free Ship ..." and more". I must be the only person who uses the launcher and sees the ad.
My friend asked me, "What kind of ship do I get for free? And what's it good for? What else do we start out with? Do we get choices of starter ships like we got starter drop suits in Dust514?" All I could say to him is..."ummmm.....I know you get a free ship everytime you dock up in your pod and you don't have a ship in that station. And no....it's not good for much besides keeping your naked pod out of space."
There must be easier to find information for new recruits to show them what they start with besides a swift kick in the butt to get them out of the station. |

Ah yes, from time to time there are special promotions that you might see which are managed by CCP and usually spell out what you get fairly easily. Unfortunately I can't really comment too much on promotions as that is not my area of what I do. If you are looking for answers about promotional things please file a support ticket under billing.
As for showing what new recruits get they start, they get a few million ISK and a few T1 frigates (based on race they chose) just by doing the tutorial and the career missions. I haven't ran the tutorials for a little bit so don't remember which frigates they get specifically. They get basic set of skills to help them on their journey.
Beyond a free rookie ship nothing is "given" to anyone in EVE everything needs to be earned.

Now that I think of it...Other then the 1 time reduction in subscription fee, it's a useless offer.
Come on...A venture and Mining frigate skillbook. The tutorial already hands you both out for nothing. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Hi, hope i am not being a full of myself, even as a new player.
But wasn't Eve Online a game that doesn't give rewards upfront in the first place? As said by the others, Eve Online is a game where you crave your own path and acquire your own rewards due to its sandbox nature.
And it is a nature of Eve Online to be a double-edged tactic where the game only comes alive after you immersed enough yourself, which also results in some people in giving the game a pass due to its possible long duration to acquire satisfaction. (Though that differs between people).

You can literally click on the advert. It's a link you know.

The rewards from these are obtained in the newbie missions anyway, so it's really no big deal (at least in my opinion). If they were handing out Hulks or battleships and all the skills to use them straight up, I'd be pissed, but you already get them for free. The biggest bonus is the reduced price on the first month, which is a great way to get a newbro into the game. http://tetrisisunrealistic.blogspot.com.au/ Just an Aussie with a mining laser and too much time.

I agree with you in that the advert wouldn't win a crystal clear English award. The main bonus of the current recruitment offer is the male and female versions of the new ORE jackets. I am wearing the female one in my current portrait if you care to take a look. They are nice jackets but if you are not 'into' that kind of stuff then the current offer isn't that good unless you need to start a new account. Other than the clothing there is the discount on subscription to EVE Online which doesn't seem any cheaper. You also get a Venture and the Mining Frigate skillbook. BUT doing the mining tutorials which don't take long will give you a Venture and the skillbook for free.
Of course if you get in now and are lucky you may be able to sell the jackets to others at Jita for a pretty penny. Depending on how much someone is willing to pay you may get 200 or 300 million ISK for each one which is not bad for new players to get a toe-hold.
Lots of new jackets including ones for the various pirate empires in null-sec have been listed on the regional market but only the four main empire ones are currently available via the NEX store. In particular the Sisters of EVE in black, red & white is very nice looking but also not available yet. The male 'monochrome' suit hasn't been released yet either. You should expect everyone and their granny to be wearing that suite of clothing once it is released.
So in short like with the previous offer scheme where you got a choice of basic pirate frigate the main opportunity with these schemes is to sell on the main freebie for several hundred million ISK. When you first start playing EVE this 'appears to be a considerable sum but I suggest you spend it wisely. Of course once you have been playing for a while you will realise that hundreds of millions of ISK is pocket change. No offense intended. |
