I'm reading the module rebalance dev blog and agree with most of it. What I don't agree is leaving a bunch of identical modules under different names in the higher levels. For example Shadow Serpentis Reactor Control Unit, Syndicate Reactor Control Unit, Dark Blood Reactor Control Unit, True Sansha Reactor Control Unit and Ammatar Navy Reactor Control Unit have exactly the same stats. Yet you have to do 5 market searches to find the cheapest and if you are in the LP store you have to do the same 5 searches before deciding to buy one or not. Any reason why they aren't merged into a "Navy Reactor Control Unit"?
No lore isn't a reason, you can just add a flavor text to their description "This advanced Reactor Control Unit was developed by the Ammatar Navy. Its blueprints were stolen and illegally used by the Serpentis, the Syndicate, the Blood Raiders and the Sansha".
I've color-coded the dev-blog tables, giving the same color for the identical items: Co-Processors, Reactor Control Units and Light Missile Launchers. As you can see, there are awful lot of redundant items. Could we get rid of them? They are just bad complexity, providing no meaningful choice (I can't choose between two identical items).

Lore and faction flavor are the reasons and yes that is a damn good reason to keep them around. - |

Which one is cheaper, which one is actually available, which one do you most like the name of?
Even if you ignore lore reasons, and things coming from different places, and being obtained in different ways, surely having SOME kind of flavour left in the item names is a good thing?
Frankly, if you're at the point of buying faction modules, you're past the point at which clicking five different items before you buy one is a problem at all. |

Maybe because, since these come from different regions, the creation processes were slightly different. Maybe because the Devs didn't feel like cheapening the excitement some people get from finding a faction drop by changing them to a generic blah name. Maybe the Goons like it that way. Maybe Devs just wanred to be lazy. Disclaimer: My opinion does not necessarily reflect that of my corp or alliance. My opinion is my own, and if you don't like, that is your problem. |

I don't care much about this.
What I'm interested in is seeing how CCP will fix the storyline crap items. and Aoede Mining Laser Upgrade, that'll be a interesting item after expansion. |

These aren't meaningful decisions. You always buy the one which is cheapest, you just have to search 5x instead of one. You always choose the available, you just have to search 5x. And you never care about the name.

Then let's have T1 flavors for each region where they were created! That would add lot to the game.
The 5 "different" equal items are just bad design and serve no other purpose than headache to the new players and extra clicks to the veterans.
