Today the minmatar community is in mourning after its spiritual leader and fighter for all that is ship balancing has departed these boards.
Sarmaul was a valued member of the community, participating in many discussions and fighting for balance for the matari.
A mistake was made and he will no longer be one of the leading players in helping jove designers correct vital flaws within the ships they create
It is our hope that the Jovian designers allow Sarmaul to come back to us and rescue us from the forgotten back shelf.
In Rust We Trust
Dearly departed Sarmaul

A bit harsh, particularly given that what he did wasn't in breach of the forum rules (at least in general. It would have been an offence in C+P or Corp and Alliance Discussion)

The poor slave boy disposed by his masters before his time. I hope somebody will buy him back and restore his puny purpose in this galaxy.
/me hopes to buy Sarmaul and chains him up for the Caldari cause. ---------------- Cruelty is God's way of showing kindness.

Ive mailed the mods, but they feel that Eve Online has the most leniant forum bans procedures in the game industry, and with 10 warnings it should be enough for any player to change his posting habits.
However, im still very sad about this.

I wont discuss moderation but I'll tell a story.
In a parallel universe very similar to this in a game called VeV online a person got a warning for posting the "man flogging a dead horse picture".
In that parallel universe the mods of that game thought they had a leniant attitude too. They couldn't see that on balance the person added to the community and didn't detract from it.
Go figure.

Well, thats nice and fine, but how on earth (or EVE) can one follow rules which are not written?
Posting killboard entries is an offence, but only for a few subforums, not for the general forum.
So, either
a) the mod in question made an error and thought the rule is global or b) the rule IS global, but the mods screwed up and did not inform the playerbase about it
But in either case, recieving a warning about posting a kilboard link in general is like getting pulled out because ou ignored a stopsign which isn't there.
