Without Carebears, pirates wouldn't have a lot of targets besides the other pirates, and wouldn't have any ships to fly around in; without the pirates, teh carebears wouldn't have much to do except ***** level 4s and accumulate billions of isk.
The game needs both. Pirates and Carebears need each other, they just don't realize it most of the time.

Customers are good for ccp as they pay them money
Carebears are good for ccp as they customers. No carebears means less customers.
No carebears means no targets for war deccing empire based pirate corps which means less of them so even less customers paying money for ccp.

It's been a few months so here goes another vain attempt at bringing common sense to the forums..
We need everyone in EVE.. Without the "carebears" there would be no ships for you to fly, without the "pirates" low sec the game would get boring real quick.
Besides "pirate" and "carebear" are generalizations that only apply to a small percentage of the real eve community.. The reason they get so much attention is that, similar to real life, it's the same small percentage that spams up the forums with bogus topics like this

Here's my take.
Carebears = side of the player base that helps others, manufactures, etc. All that good stuff. Generally, the players who have everyone's best interests at heart.
Pirates = the scum on the bottom of the gene pool, who show their true colors in the game and basically show the worst side of humanity. Are basically the anti-progress, who would see humanity fall apart before giving up their ill-gotten gains.
Take a wild guess as to which side I sympathize with...

You mean the people who buy up all the market and put it back up at a higher price?
And the people who increase their prices as much as is completely possible while just undercutting the other carebears on the market? (Usually by 0.1 isk )
I'm not sure I agree with your descriptions.

Normally I don't generalize in such a manner, but most, if not all pirates I've met haven't given me any reason to believe otherwise.

come on, even the market has pvp, instead of undercutting everyone else, reselling cap recharger IIs, we blow up ships and either a) return them to the market or b) fit them on our ships which will eventually be destroyed or returned to the market.

EvE needs both types of players. EvE needs as many types of different players as it can get its sweaty fingers on. The more the merrier.

I suppose I'd be considered a Carebear, as I spend most of my time in Kingdom space atm, earning money so I can afford to go lo-sec.
That said, if I do get popped in lo-sec, that's the risk/profit margin coming into play. I can make a lot more money out there when I go, but I can lose a lot more money out there if I don't go prepared.
At the moment, despite having 13mill skill points, I've never PvP'd and would, I don't doubt, get my fender handed to me on a plate the first few times, but you pays your money, you takes your chances. Experience is a great teacher, and after a few failures, I'll start learning the tricks and countering them.
I think that is what Eve is all about, learning from your mistakes and adapting to the environment you are working in :)
