Edited by: Junior Dweight on 17/07/2006 08:03:01 Working on rank 3 now (minmatar).
So my question is, what do i get? I'll be getting it for PvP (PvP is first priority) but i also might be doing pve...
Rupture or stabber (or bellicose?!)? And then what kind of set-up? Is there a role on group pvp that a noob should get, and if so what is that role and what is a good setup for that role?
So what ship+setup would you recommend?
edit: note that we'd be hunting pirates

If your gunnery skills are low I'd recommend starting out with a bellicose. A bellicose can field good ew support. Low skills in the ew and drone department won't be noticable as much as bad gunnery skills in a rupture or stabber. Basically it depends on the skills you have and what your gang could use best.

gunnery 4, and ew is something like 2? i think. drones is 2, but nothing beyond that for drones (should probably get some)

Rupture damage support/tank:
High: 4x 220 vulcan autos (EMP ammo), 2x med NOS
Med: 10mn ab, 20km scram, web
Low: Medium armour rep, explosive/kinetic active hardeners, energized adaptive nano membrane, cap power relay
6x warrior drones (for anti frigate)
Stabber tackler:
Hi: Whatever
Med: 10mn MWD, 2x 20km scram (or 1x 20km and 1x 7.5km)
Low: Nanofibers
I've never used a bellicose.

I recomend the stabber as it will fly the most like the frigs your use too. Lack of drone skills would be relitivly disapointing in the Rupture.
This is the setup I've been having fun with
High: 4 220's (Named), Assult Launcher, Med Nos Med: web/scram, cap recharger, named 10m AB Lows: Adaptive nano membraine, Named Med Armor Rep, PDU
This setup does require some skills however, with high fitting skills you can fit a MWD or second NOS. PvP experance is quite limited, however did well againt frigs in practice. Does all level 2 missions I've run into, with the NOS and my skills the tank is fairly sustaiable (though this is unlikely to be what your looking for in a PvP staber)

Edited by: Norris Neophitus on 17/07/2006 15:57:28 I can honestly say that the rupture like most minmatar ship is skill intensive, but its cheap powerful and packs some serious punch and with every lvl of every skill you train for it you can see the difference.
I moved to this after a rifter and it seemed slightly heavy but its worth it as i have trained several pvp pilots in it, damn noobs now make me look poor after i trained them :(
Anyway get some points in gunnery heavy missiles, t2 armor repper and you'll be fine works best at range with arties but its also pretty good with autos and i've seen small rupture packs(2-3) take down all classes of ships very effectively for minimal damage only occasional loss but as the only t2 worth putting on them is a repper they are dirt cheap to replace. It does 3 kinds of damage and you can spread this across the dmg types guns drones and missiles, what more do you need.(<3 my ruptures)
As for the stabber im not a fan of shield tanking if going pvp and they always seem to crumble for me but thats probably cause i never showed them the love that i did for a rupture.
Oh and belicose = wimp with missiles and drones dont know anyone thats used them consistently and had any luck with one. Tho all ships have thier place and their setups
Just an idea but if you want to go pvp and pve relitavely fast you should probably look at a raven, they seem to be the ship of choice until the tier3 BS lands

Bellicose has both a gun bonus and a missile bonus (what other use could a TP bonus have? ), so you might find that useful.

Edited by: Weirda on 17/07/2006 17:42:26 stabber does very good frig duty, and can be fit as a heavy tackler... great cheap ship to start you pvp career in. bear in mind though it have limited lows and mids, and can die VERY quickly if it gets in trouble. with good nav skill (mwd is GREAT, but even afterburner not to be sniffed at on this) this is very impressive platform.
rupture is wonderful (one of best 1v1 cruiser out there too - though you prolly won't get a lot of that in heavy populated pirate system) but more skill intensive to really fly right (it is important to take advantage of it drone bay and extra highs... more so then stabber anyways). probably wouldn't recommend this out of the gate, but if you are in small group, you will have chance of laying down more dmg/being more survivable then the stabber.
would really recommend that you go here and browse around. great resource for 'young' (and old) minnie pilot!
best of luck to you! __ Weirda Join QOTSA Now |

Hi, just a noob pvp question for stabber. Im using 220mm autos and 2 heavies, plan is to orbit outside 10k and not get webbed keeping transversal high. Lows are 2 gyros and a nano. However, the falloff for my guns is 9600m, and this dosent seem to change when i put the required ammo (proton i think, 20% range) in. I know this can be done, or at least i think it can, because people oribt outside 10k in vagas at any rate. Help me please! thanks

OP, I would go with a stabber because if you're a noob in PvP IMO the best job that you can perform is tackling. A stabber tackler setup has already been posted. Basically, focus on getting within web/scramble range as quickly as possible, staying in that range, and surviving while in that range. Some might say that a frig would be better suited for tackling but IMO staying alive in a T1 frig takes more skills (particularly cap ones).

By Gunnery, EW, and Drones, he meant the entire groups of skills, not the foundation ones.

The only way to increase your falloff is to train trajectory analysis.
The ammo gives a bonus to your optimal range, which (I think) means little in Minmatar guns.

Get a Stabber first. It's a good, fast and cheap anti Frig ship, I learned PvP in it.
