Apologies for this taking soo long, RL issues sometimes interfere too much with internet spaceships.
Video is almost ready, courtesy of our resident FRAPS artist. OP will be updated as soon as it is ready.
TL:DR GF Hard Knocks https://zkillboard.com/related/31002377/201407060400/
The weekend was relatively quiet. Hours spent rage rolling Friday and Saturday had proved unfruitful.
I logged on Sunday and to my surprise found a good number of pilots itching for something to do. Well something other than keeping watch on a POS in a C2 down the chain, which they had been doing.
We quickly formed up again and set to rage rolling. Again our efforts were denied, but unknown to us Bob had put other plans in motion.
We had an operation planned to start in a few hours and 19 combat anomalies in DEEP (our home wormhole). I made the call and we reshipped for PvE while bookmarks were made to make running the sites more efficient (something I hardly ever actually bother with).
We were in late US time zone on a weekend. A lot of other wormhole groups would be rolling for pew as we had just been. I made sure everyone understood this, while also reminding the fleet of their actions on drills.
The first site went flawlessly (wow these BM things make things easy) and while in warp to the second site I gave the same speech. Again reminding everyone that though it was getting late for US TZ, it was a weekend. I even specifically mentioned Hard Knocks, using their drops of NOHO and RCC as examples.
https://zkillboard.com/related/31002378/201406262100/ https://zkillboard.com/related/31002368/201406080400/
On finishing the second site I called in the noctii to salvage. Just as they landed, comms went silent at two words.
GÇ£New sigGÇ¥
Called for fleet to stop align and re approach carrier. Confirmed that someone was scanning, to which our silently amazing scout replied in fleet chat.
>in warp<
Told the noctii to keep salvaging and be ready to bail.
We have had new sigs appear during PvE plenty of times and they have always turned out to be nothing. But I have learnt through hard experience to trust my intuition. Those seemingly random gut feelings everyone gets at times. They were telling me that this time was real..
Asked fleet for cycle timers to which all our capital pilots replied that they were out. At this point I could have called us out while the new sig was investigated, but I had designed this fleet and the strategies behind it for this exact situation. Though neither had ever been tested, I was keen to do exactly that.
I knew some pilots heart rates would have already jumped up and some hands would be shaking. After all there was easily over 40 billion isk on the field. Regardless of what happened this was a perfect time to train actions on drills.
I verbally went through the actions on drills again, while waiting on further intel from our scout.
>sabre< >hard knocks<
Called the noctii to bail and reship. Told everyone else to double check their ships and get ready.
Verbally repeated the drills for the last time.
GÇ£Dreads refit brawl, lokis orbit carrier and refit eccm, carriers check distance. Ping.GÇ¥
I heard my phone go off moments later, confident that as usual pilots from all across the world would awaken and respond.
>sabre in warp< >wormhole fire, multiple<
The sabre landed at 60km from our carriers, obviously using the anom as his warp in. This made me smile, as any other day he would have landed on top of us. Regardless he turned and started burning in fast.
GÇ£Deploy drones, pop the sabreGÇ¥
>fleet in warp<
He popped shortly after, followed by his pod. However he had achieved his goal, managing to launch his bubble over our fleet, trapping those noctii still left on grid. A truly heroic sabre pilot.
Unfortunately this was unnecessary as I had already decided we were staying, no matter what was brought against us. I quickly cemented this decision with my next commands.
GÇ£Archon triage, dreads siegeGÇ¥
Their fleet landed and I quickly called a legion primary while assessing their fleet and looking for ships that could be tracked easier by our dreads capital sized weapons. Our noctii pilots had managed to exit the bubble and warp home, reshipping and heading straight back into the fight. Then a bhaalgorn landed with a nestor.
Switched everything to the bhaalgorn, which was holding remarkably well. This was an unexpected turn of events, something must be wrong.. It was about then our loki pilots started calling jammed at an incredibly alarming frequency.
Our archon pilot called his cap was dropping, but he said he could hold for a while. This was going very wrong, we needed more tracking and webs.
GÇ£Dreads go to site fitGÇ¥ GÇ£Lokis refit more ECCM, primary nestorGÇ¥
I had seen their nestor on Hard Knocks kills before, amazed it was still alive I was determined to change that.
I was relieved to see the nestor go down quickly. Moved everything back to the bhaalgorn, its armor slowly dropped. The HK logistics was impressive managing to hold the bhaalgorn up for a long time, too long. Was about to switch to our secondary when a couple big hits saw the bhaalgorns armor drop real low.
Our archon pilot stated that he would really be in trouble soon. Despite the calm in his voice, I knew from experience that just the fact he was letting me know meant that he was really hurting. Called dreads to overheat two cycles and was very glad to see the bhaalgorn explode.

With the bhaalgorns heavy neuts gone, our archon pilot reported he would be ok. Especially as HK dps started switching between our sub caps.
The situation stalemated for a while, both sides trying to gain the upper hand. Though I got the feeling they were just trying to wear us down.
The archon exited triage to catch reps and cap from our nidhogger.
More of our pilots were starting to log in. Many of them capital pilots, already sitting in their dreadnaughts and carriers. However each of them took the time to ask GÇ£What and where?GÇ¥
GÇ£Webs, warp to the carrierGÇ¥ was my only answer.
I had massive respect for Hard Knocks choosing to take the fight with the sizeable capital fleet we already had on grid. The least I could do was not just flood the field with more, well the least after trying to destroy as many of their ships as possible.
>wormhole fire, wormhole collapsed< >two nags<
The addition of two dreads could seriously threaten our carriers, which in turn threatened our entire fleet. However I was confident in our dreadnaught pilots. If their dreads landed close enough to threaten our carriers, then it would be a DPS race. Could our dreads kill theirs before they killed our carriers.
GÇ£Dreads refit brawl, clear targetsGÇ¥
Their DPS had been focused on the nidhogger for a while, which was bait tanking. At less than 30% shield it activated its shield booster, pulling back massive chunks of shield at a time.
>Nags in warp<
I waited, telling subcaps to leave DPS on the last primary. Where their two nags landed would dictate the next 5-10 minutes of the fight. A pilot called GÇ£Nags landing.GÇ¥ I had my overview sorted and was intently watching to see their range once they came to rest. More than 60km.
GÇ£Dreads refit site, carriers be carefulGÇ¥
They had landed too far away to apply enough dps to threaten our carriers, but also too far away for us to threaten their impressive tanks.
However their distance would reduce any tracking issues and despite their range, their extra DPS was making keeping our subcaps up substantially harder. However our archon pilot was doing amazing work, hindered only by his nidhogger partner. Even saving a brutix more times than we could count.
With our dreads again fit for tracking and our lokis getting the hang of working under substantial jamming, the next legion primary exploded. Followed by another legion.
Out of the corner of my eye I caught a bubble spawn over the hostile dreads. I didnGÇÖt even have to look to know who it would be, our hero flycatcher pilot. I noticed a swarm of hostile drones moving in the flycatchers direction, who then warped off.
At the same time our archon was being put under a fair amount of pressure as everything moved to him just after he had started a new triage cycle. The additional DPS of the nags, even at range was hurting.
GÇ£Refit more tank, just make it outGÇ¥
It was at this point we lost a loki to a quick primary swap. The nidhogger pilot just a little too slow, but the archon made it out of triage. Very low on armor and capacitor, but happy to still have his ship intact.
Reps and cap poured in from the nidhogger, but it quickly started taking the brunt of the hostile DPS. Again bait tanking, this time down to 15% shield before starting to rep. However we managed to lose a second loki and brutix at the same time. Horrible nidhogger pilot, just horrible.
However the rest of our fleet was faring better, starting to slowly work its way through the hostile fleet. A proteus, legion and tengu all having exploded to our dreadnaughts big guns.
Their nags warped away and I called for any points we had to spread out. Our devoters bubble was forced down, though we did manage to hold one guardian as their fleet warped away.
Someone called for good fights in local.
GÇ£F**k that, weGÇÖre not done yet, scan themGÇ¥ was my reply.
We let our cycles wind down while sorting out an align for where their fleet was sitting. They were sitting back at the wormhole they had come from. Told our scout to x up on landing.
A little miscommunication on my part had our archon initiate warp to the old bookmark. However they were sitting 150km above that, which is where our scout landed and bubbled. Some pilots initiated warp to the archon, who granted I had told to x on landing while others warped to our scouts bubble.
Lost our hero flycatcher, but luckily the nidhogger warped to the scouts bubble and managed to rep those that landed on top of the hostiles. That could have been a lot worse.
Their fleet warped away after forcing our devoters bubble down. We regathered our fleet, while our scout resolved their new position.
We were getting ready to warp when I made the call. We wouldnGÇÖt be following again. Told everyone to GF in local.
They had brought the fight, I respect that. Offered our assistance in finding an exit, which was politely declined as their scouts were already working on it.
Told everyone to warp back to the site, a couple pilots reshipped to noctii in order to clean up the mess.
Hard Knocks exited, leaving a naglfar behind which was promised safe passage at the next opportunity.
Almost 35 mins of pure brawling. Great fun, would do again.

Written reports usually give a better overview and background than a video can. The video was recorded by a single dread pilot, and provides a detailed account from this perspective, but from none others.
