Right now I'm at a cross between whether I want to fly Amarr or Gal ships.
Skills wise, I am pretty close. Pretty simple armor skills, T1 guns in both laser and hybrids but I'm only a few days away for either of T2 weapon systems. That being said, I've flown about in an Atron as a tackler and a Tristan all because my corp requires that each pilot be able to fly each of those ships and provides those for new pilots.
I like both races ship(besides that greenish/blue hue that the Gal ships seem to love) but I don't like that Gal ships have to fight so close with blasters, while I don't like how Amarr are generally slower and cap intensives.
Anyways, I don't really know what to go and I'm too new to really know the pro/cons of each but I've done some research on both. I'm leaning more toward Amarr but I would love some input. Thank you. |

Go with Gal and instead of blasters, use railguns
Better range, but lower DPS and tracking.
Nano Rails Thorax is a good kiting ship.
Similarly a Nano fit Tristan with drones for DPS gives you range out to point range and lots of speed.
Rails atron is also useful out to point range, though lower DPS.
At the Destroyer end, both the Catalyst and Algos can be rails fit for more range over blasters.
Lots of choices for kiting in Gallente.
There's probably similar options in Amarr ships. Omen Navy Issue for example.
The warfare and tactics forum has a lot of threads about kiting ships for PvP. Come Win At Eve - Join The Vendunari

Gallente is generally in a better place than Amarr right now, their ships are far more versatile and better suited to small gang situations. Amarr have some good ships too, but I would go Gallente in a heartbeat if I had to choose. |

Go Gal. If you are alnost t2 with rails/blasters then you will be able to fly Gal and Cal ships. That gives you more options sooner. Pyre Falcon is recruiting - apply today! Backstage Recruitment thread EVEO Forum Recruitment thread |

From a min max perspective it's got to be gallente BUT flavour of the month may change to amarr as it changed to Gallente so basically if you have a personal reason to fly amarr such as you like look of their ships then do it.
Some effective amarr ships of the class sizes for small gang/solo pvp.
T1 frigates - Executioner (kite or scram kite) - Tormentor (brawler) - slicer (kite) T2 frigates - Malediction (kite or brawl), vengeance brawler, Sentinel (kiter/scram kiter/neut and td specialist) Destroyer - Coercer (kite or brawl) - dragoon (kite or brawl) - T2 Heretic (kite) T1 cruiser - Omen (Kite or Brawl) - omen navy issue (known most for kiting but also brawler if you like) T2 cruiser - Sacrilege (heavy brawl) - Zealot (kite but you better be good because no drones) T1 BC - Oracle (kite/sniper) T2 BC - Absolution (Heavy brawl) Battleship - Armageddon (brawler/neut specialist)
They are also perfectly capable of bringing pve to the table and killing stuff fine. I have not included fleet level ships because that changes often due to the meta game between blocs/large alliances of players but amarr are not short of capable ships.
Gallente are seen as better though due to sheer flexibility from drones and their ability to move quickly. The primary problem seems to be that gallente are very quick to get their blasters into range, but what players actually use it for (including myself) is to keep players away and use drones/rails to blap their targets into submission. Amarr have glaring weaknesses that can be combated via skillfull flying. Many gallente ships do not have such glaring weakness and thus are safer in more situations as a choice.
IMO amarr look better though XD |

I fly mainly with Cal/Gal ships and while I like the damage they can get, I hate the "in your face" idea. I think by writing this post that I already decided on amarr(kind of like flipping a coin and already knowing what you want to do.). I realize the issues that amarr hold, however I like the mid range fighting that takes places with their ships and generally, you almost never see an amarr pilot. Hopefully I can learn to fly an amarr ship and not make myself look bad in the process!
And yes, the amarr ships are amazing looking! |

Now more than ever have the races been balanced.
I have flown all the races over the many years playing but I always end up back at amarr for some reason. Their style is just awesome. And now every race has ships that can perform in pretty much every arena (well I'm assuming for the larger fleet stuff as I'm mainly a small gang/solo pilot)
For a while Amarr were known as the pvp kings. Then gallente then minmatar etc etc. The crown gets passed around from time to time. IMO fly what you like the looks/sounds/feel of and you have more fun than flying the FOTM ships.
And as for galente. Apart from the incursus hulls their ships are urgh!! |

gallente have the most OP **** right now. go with gallente
comets are so overpowered you fly them in groups and really the only way to kill them is with a bigger blob and you can claim to be the best pvper in game with a OP frigate that people have to blob you to win.
Ishtar online, need i say more
myrms have always been be good or at least decent
damps got buffed so if you want to fly ewar you will be the most loved person in the fleet with keres 71 km long point and arazu strong damps.
amarr. meh, 14 of there best ships got nerfed with resistance percent per level because "its to strong compared to active tanked" so instead of buff active tanking they nerfed 14 of amarrs best ships in game. really, dont bother with them. their stuff is mediocre at best |

Wow, you are bitter oO
The Vengeance is still a BEAST.
The Slicer is very strong when properly flown.
The Dragoon is an incredibly good ship to sit inside a plex and let your enemy warp into you.
The biggest problem I have with Amarr is, they really can-¦t derp fit their ships. A T1 fit catalyst is still pretty damn awesome but an Amarr ship needs T2 lasers with scorch to be good. Sure, some people cry that Amarr is only viable because "scorch so OP, without that we would suck" but well...you have scorch! |
