I run multiple accounts with a dual gfx system, there is a issue when using two gfx card and that the fps rate goes crap, if I just use one its a lot better, CCP are looking in to this.
However when I change the interval setting it get a massive difference
Interval 1 with 6 accounts 10-20 fps Interval immediate with 6 accounts 185-230 fps
there is a concern with using the immediate setting though as im sure that was the reason why my last gfx card burned out as it pushes it to the limit.
Im just curious who uses what and have they had any problems ?

I usually play with 2 accounts, on my old machine FPS was an issue. not so on the new one.
anyway, on the old one i found that if i minimized one of the clients, the other would run smooth as butter. *shrug* |

There does indeed appear to be an issue with FPS when running multiple clients with multiple graphics cards enabled. It seems that when multiple cards are used the FPS will drop by around 10 for every additional client you have running. The FPS drop does not seem to happen when you only use one graphics card.
If you have not already done so then please submit a bug report via the in-game reporting tool which is accessible via the F12 key.
As for the 'Present Interval' setting basically when you set this to 'One' it will limit the amount of FPS from the client to what your display can handle.
If you set it to 'Immediate' it will tr y to get as much FPS output as possible regardless of what your display can support. If you do set it to 'Immediate' then be sure to keep an eye on your cards temperature, especially if you have more than a couple of clients running.
Hopefully the developers can use the bug reports to identify if this is a client issue or a driver issue. Senior GM Arcade | Customer Support

Interval immediate puts a lot of stress on the GPU, unecessarily if it's a high end GPU. Failure probability is multiplied. I've had 2 GPU stressed and failed, mainly attributed to EVE. First was due to the interval immediate. Second was from prolonged heat due from running 2 clients for an extended period.
Try forcing a v-sync overrride lock from Windows settings (D3D panel) and running interval immediate. Hopefully that hard limiter will sort out the fps automatically, assuming you GPU setup can handle all the clients' load. Unsure if this would work though, never tried myself.

Ive done this earlier today as requested from my petition, ive even tried using separate clients as I have 3 drives with 3 eve clients but I still get the same issue

Awesome! I thought it just enabled vysnch since my current monitors were 60 Hzs. That means my new 120s will run at 120Hzs with interval one?
Also to all the people who run interval immediate, you are consuming 100 % (or near it) of your GPU's processing power. That's a REALLY bad idea, it's like running prime95 on your GPU whenever you play EVE. It will tax it heavily, and heat is one of the major killers of any electronics. Normally GPUs are never taxed at 100 % like that, and if you monitor your GPU temps you will notice above 80 % usage the heat starts to rise much faster than lower levels due to the fact that the normal fans even in optimal conditions are not designed to dissipate 80+ % usage for extended periods of time. |

I had the same problem with 3 Monitors and 2 cards, the solution for me was pretty simple
as a example: Monitor 1 is on the first card Monitor 2+3 on the second card
so the Eve Clients for Monitor 1 must be on the first adapter and for Monitor 2+3 on the second adapter - the Eve client does not overlay over 2 screens (even a few pixel that strech to a different Monitor will cause a FPS drop)
If u set the adapter wrong u have ~10 FPS cuz of some failed intervall
You can view the correct adapter setting (1 or 2 or mb 3 if Windows emulate a third adapter) in ur Windows Monitor-Setting there you see all 3 Monitors with the correct Adapter |

I am actually getting something similar using just one card.
10-20 fps Interval 1 in station when docked. 45-60 fps Interval Immediate in station when docked. (yes my card is old and rubbish )
EDIT: Just to add this was while running in fullscreen mode. GÇÿNo, this isn't it at all. Make it more... psssshhhhGÇÖ. |

Mine was I think at either immediate or one at first. I found it ran much better on two, which I think was 30 or 20 fps. I haven't had a computer for a month or two, so I couldn't tell you.

When I play with multiple clients, I put interval immediate and launch a small 3rd party program called: Dxtory The program limits my fps to 60. It's very simple to use. -½ I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer -+.

Genuine question: Is there any benefit to running at an FPS rate higher than your monitor refresh rate? I always read people talking about 80 or 120 fps and wonder what generating all these extra frames adds to the visual experience? |

Going faster than your monitor refresh does nothing. The problem with using interval one to limit to 60 FPS is that it messes with your FPS in a bad way when you can't quite reach 60 FPS. If it can't quite draw the frame in time then it waits a whole extra cycle before updating the screen, essentially halving your frame rate to 30 FPS just because you could only do 59 FPS instead of 60. There are other ways to limit the frame rate that don't have this problem (eg Dynamic V-sync), I don't know if EVE supports them at this stage. |

i would be happy with even 40fps at present im getting 10-15 with all my accounts active, hope they can sort it out soon so i can get 60fps across the board |

Does anyone know any good software to throttle the GPU?
I have a Radeon 7950, and at interval one the frame rate is capped at 50 (DX9. DX11 gave me some ugly visual glitches last time I tried), frequently dropping to 10-20 regardless of my other settings (low, medium, high details, resolution, etc. Actually seemed to get worse after the latest beta drivers (need them for Wolfenstein) ), but if I set it to interval immediate I get a frame rate of 200+ and free heating.
Some middle ground would be nice... |

It seems that the interval selection is the equivalent of v-sync for other games. Newer cards should set it at 1 to avoid heating issues while older ones (the ones that can't get to 60 fps normally) should work better on internal immediate for better performance. Setting it at 1 for a subpar graphics card is basically halving your framerate (which is much lower than the refresh rate already). |

The older cards generally consume a lot more power/frame than newer cards so I wouldn't recommend doing that.
My first gfx card casualty courtesy of Eve was a Radeon 9800Pro in 2003 - got so hot the SMD decoupling caps fell off the back of the card from one corner of the gpu - I didn't notice until I moved the base unit when they shorted out the motherboard
There's also been an Nvidia card die since then (onboard gpu cache) and strangely enough not a problem since Interval 1 became an option (in various machines before someone witters on about "cooling") |

As I understand, the interval setting is basically vsync. Generally, you shouldn't need to worry about overheating your video card by turning vsync off. A lot of gamers prefer to have it off all the time anyway because it introduces input lag. If your card and case are properly cooled, then you shouldn't need to worry about your cards temperature regardless of vsync setting.
I find that turning off SLI and running at interval immediate works best for multiple clients for me. |

The problem with Eve prior to the interval 1 setting was that on static scenes (think AKF/chatting/trading in station) it appeared to stress a section of the gpu. I suspect that once an essentially static scene is rendered then it runs in a very fast loop which is basically a pull from memory/cache & without a limit on that then it'll overheat the onboard cache/external memory latches - they're not designed for that sort of loop.
Every time (prior to interval 1) I had problems with overheating gpu/GDDR memory was in station. This pre-dated Incarna by years but Incarna is when CCP actually had their "oh ****" moment due to CQ and the Interval 1 (plus stickies on forums) appeared. They know why. |

Interval immediate with 2 * GTX 680's running 3 clients
I'd run a 4th client but I don't need a 4th account.
I've not noticed any problems though obviously the card are running slightly hotter than normal (about 5-10 degrees hotter)

I have a multimonitor setup as follows with 3 screens on (total of 4 attached): 1 AMD 6790: * Forums and stuff on screen 1 (and sometime an EVE client in a window) * EVE install on C: drive on "interval one" screen 2, fixed window on screenres 1680*1050 1 AMD 4870 * EVE install on S: drive on "interval one" screen 3, fixed window on screenres 1280*1024
If i run just one client its 60 FPS, two clients its both 30 or both 15 FPS(!). And that's docked. If I use immediate I'll get about 138 FPS on the 6790 and the card runs hot real fast and the cooling fans get really noisy... Doesn't matter if i run windowed or with fixed window, FPS stays as 'bad'.
Had the illusion that totally separate instances would improve performance... |
