This could work for a few pocos...until a bigger group decides they not gona let you. I saw Usurper the other day get stomped by Shadow Cartel somewhere in Genesis. Userper, a significant sized entity was trying (i guess) to "grow" their poco network. Shadow Cartel decided they would put a stop to it. You can try to take down some player owned pocos to put yours....but on the long run, bigger groups will always have their say to it. And there is not much a solo player (or small group) will be able to do much against this. So the "do what you're supposed to do in EVE"....is team UP. Then destroy! The POCO serves only to collect taxes and for individuals to move resources between their colonies and/or to hangers and markets. There is no play involved in it as a group.
Shooting POCOs is a different issue and not part of the PI game, just part of the PvP game.

Doing PI is solo play. But owning the poco favors "group" playing.... PI still exist but....the fact that HS pocos are now mostly owned by group of players that now control how much they "take" from you when you do your PI, I consider this a nerf. Not a big nerf but still a nerf in some way. You do realise you have just contradicted yourself. "Doing PI is solo play" "owning the poco favors "group" playing" Custom Offices and PI are part of the same thing. No I didn't. POCOs were not owned by players before. You were not subject to other players taxing you. Now you are! Before CCP made the POCOs players owned, a player deciding to do Pi could "predict" how both elements could affect him. Now one of those elements (the POCOs) have become a factor to "deal" with. By the way, I am not complaining about this. Just stating my view on how CCP affected PI with their changes, specially for solo players!
You do realize that "POCO" is an acronym for "Player Owned Customs Office", right?
By definition, they have always been owned by the players. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

I was happy with the taxes and the corps that had the Custom Offices for the planets I used....but guess what....they changed.... This is what happends when you put things like this in the hands of the players. I guess at least now they can blame the players themselves for nerfing P.I.
Go to NPC null and have a look around. Some of the tax rates there are quite low and a lot of it is fairly static. |

Sounds like you know very little about wormholes then. Going to guess the same is true for low and null. I'd recommend looking into it; the PI once you get away from the crushing mass of players that is hisec is much much better. TL;DR
If you don't like the tax rate on your planets and you refuse to move, then you either get your corp to war dec the poco owners, blow up the offices and place your own with your new tax rate
or
hire mercs to do it for you
or
live with it. 10 years of eve... yea i'm an addict |

It's only a nerf if you're the kind of lackadaisical, do-nothing player who wants everything for free.

The others were fine too. low sec and null PI i pretty easy i have done both a lot and still do. I have done both with neutral chars with no standings with locals. i have never lived in a wh so not done pi there. An epithal is all you need for safe low sec pi (MWD, cloak, stabs, agility rigs, tank) Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85 |

It was (and is) much simpler to not bother with PI in high sec. |

Well...yes...and no. I'd again say that owning the poco's favors big corporations mostly...and thats not how all of us want to play the game... No it's not. Not really at least. It's your interpretation of a natural phenomena you can't seem to accept.
Bigger groups will always be more powerfull. It needs wit and intelligence to deal with them, or someone like you who whines about simple facts of nature.
How you want to play the game is irrelevant. Everybody else plays the same game, with the same tools. If you want to play your way that's fine, but you have to accept the consequences of your "choice".

Now imagine if governments never changed and taxes always stayed the same... Unfortunately EVE is not a democracy, you don't vote for who is in charge of your system - it's more of serfdom or feudal estate if you will - you are at the mercy of the guy with the biggest stick. And will always suffer as the System Lords continuously fight for power. Just like ye old peasants. When the lord changes you might expect some changes in leadership, taxes, military service etc etc etc Your plea is exactly as a peasant from the dark ages - "I greweth my cabbages peacefully and quietly and I hath sold them to the fair for reasonable price, but now the new lord cometh and taketh away my produce and collects taxes every other morrow!"
So there are these options: 1) just like ye olde peasant you continue to do your job and hope that tomorrow the Lord doesn't want to turn your cabbage patch in a hunting ground 2) you grab ye olde pitchfork and torch and burn down his castle 3) you hide in the woods and pray on the rich and give to the needy with your merry band of merry men 4) you go out into the world to make your own path while being extremely careful not to poach in the Lord's forest
