I'm interested to know what people think are the hardest lvl 4 missions, particularly as I'm doing them solo.
I've done Worlds Collide solo but I'm worried about these drone missions like Rouge drones harrassment and Silence the informant. I'm farily new to lvl 4 missions but worlds collide was a task yet not impossible :)
Thanks

In the Midst of Deadspace (or it's Amarr/Caldari equivalent) is by far the hardest. Most others are doable if you have a (very) good tanking setup. ________________________________________________

thanks so far chaps :)
Miro - I'm in a dommi too and i've tried several different setups, preferring uber tank and 250 rails. I'd be interested to know how your dommi was fitted to fight these lil drone beggars!
Thanks

Worlds Collide can be tricky but is do-able. In The Midst of Deadspace is a pain in butt! Not that it can't be soloed but because it's just not worth the effort.
The rogue drones ones are quite easy I find, basically just tank the drones and let your med t2 drones take them apart (I find the meds more effective than lights).
Silence The Informant is far and away my least favourite (combat) mission. I normally get some help with it or just reject it.
I fly a T2 tanked Domi with T2 drones (4.5Mil Sp in drones) they can kill everything with ease except the navy ravens in 'midst' takes ages to finish them off. I don't bother with guns just a small laser to get aggro and then hvy nos to help if i need my second repper. The second repper is generally only required if i make a mistake or everything argos me!

Rogue Drone Harrassment and Infiltrated Outposts rake in a lot of cash (~3000 Zyd or so in the latter ).
My setup for those:
H: 1-2 of each Heavy Nos, Tractor, Drone Link Augment M: Rack of Eutetic Cap Rechargers and 1 Heavy Cap Booster (800) L: 2 x Large Armor Rep II, Pseudoelectron Damage Control, 2 x Armor Explosive Hardener II, 1 x Kinetic II, 1 x Thermic II
Drones: 5 x Praetor, rest Infiltrator II and Acolyte II
And I too have trouble tanking the Angel missions...

I've completed stage 1 and 2 of this mission (of 5), I've heard that at some point you get warp scrambled and the DPS you take is huge and essentially lose your ship. Am I 'safe' now that the first two stages are out the way or is this super-gank further on?
Thanks.

Ahhh...Infiltrated Outpost is my personal favorite (in Raven): Easy as easy can be, fast and good income (app. 20-30mio in mins) for about 1 - 1 1/2h work inkluding looting.
(SP 2,5mio, BS lvl3, CM lv3)
Rouge drones Harrasment is easy, too. Just remember to take out the "strain-"drones 1st, 'cause these are able to scramble.

I don't have much experience with L4s, have only done a few so far. Having said that, I found Rogue Drone Harassment quite easy. On the hard side, I got The Right Hand of Zazzmatazz last night, now this one's rough.

Rogue drones is easy (and quite profitable). Silence the Informant can be easy or tough. Sometimes a mission that was easy one time becomes very difficult the next time. Lost my ship due to an NPC cap draining me and I was not quick enough on the auto-pilot the 2nd time I had to cut and run (my bad). Never had an NPC cap drain me before. Killed the 2 Spider drones almost right away, and was almost killing the 1st Guardian Veteran (there are 6 of them I think) before I warped out and regrouped. Managed to kill the remaining as I was so close to doing that and decided to "stick it out". Bad decision.
I did manage to return in a overt ops ship and BM my can, so I did manage to get nearly all my expensive mods back.
But I do need to fly out and pick up the replacement ship. :(
Lesson: Lack of situational awareness and arrogance will cost you your ship.

Enemies Abound can be a *****...especially since part 1 of 5 is bugged. If you launch drones, you die - the whole spawn aggros, even if your drones are no where near combat range. Same thing happens if you bring a friend to help.

Worlds collide is the hardest iv'e done solo, the second stage initial aggro was kind of scary as it was slowly breaking my tank Lots and lots of fun in that one though, like a oversized guristas spies
For some reason though, Revenge is sweet scares the hell out of me Allways decline it, and it's the only l4 iv'e ever lost a ship to :/

I do it with apprehension, that mission gets well-deserved respect from me. The common BS I fight is fine, but his angel support hurts bad. There's an alternate spawn with a tougher BS that can scramble. Every time I warp in I have my fingers crossed that I get the common BS. Mostly, I think I am not properly hardening for the mercs. Toaster Oven and I were discussing it once before, I believe the recommendation was to guard thermal damage better. Can't remember and haven't had a chance to really investigate it.

Strange the master of missions didn't spot it krav...
The mission can be done solo and fast in a normal gank setup ship... the angel hacs arn't a problem.. kill 1-2 out of range... nail the cyclones to cut the damage... the bs trails off out of range anyway... kill the remaining hacs as they sit at 30km...
Your lucky, you can nail it all before you lose your sheild.
Probaly the quickest solo setup....

Edited by: Lorette on 31/05/2006 06:14:44 Probably all dependant on what ship you use
Worlds collide is by far the hardest for me, generally because one foot wrong and your ship is as good as dead.
In the midst of deadspace i can run with absolutely no fear of death, dont know what the fuss is about on that mission, it is bloody long and boring though. (Btw the guy who had trouble with the ravens...use wasps, i have 1.2mill in drones and with wasp 1's i can kill em in under a minute each).
Oops forgot right hand of zazz, which is a pain for a domi pilot. One day ill try a sentry+long range rail setup or just use a railthron on it, would be very easy that way.
The only other two that come to mind are serp and angel extrav's, but if you know what your doing the risk of a massive agro is very minimal.

Those Republic Fleet Darkanas (Tempests) were pretty nasty - good tank, high damage & lots of them. Took me a while to kill them while trying not to take too much damage. Actually a plesent surprise - a challenging mission with a decent storyline - I actually felt like part of the factional Eve storyline.
Not flown a BS in a mission for a while but some of the Drone missions where they all come at you at once would be nasty.

The hardest mission is the one you didn't set up/prepare/research for before piling in, and on the first time of trying it warp in at 15km.
Seriously most missions are doable if you have the right setup. Eveinfo is probably the best resource atm for this, although the actual combination of npcs can be different, at least it gives you a flavour.
There's nothing quite like losing your big expensive ship because you still have the drone augmentor in for the Mordus Mammoth instead of a heavy nos and then without thinking pile into a situation where you have to tank for the first minute because of missile spam and lag
Live and learn, use the resources that the community creates.
For me, the hardest one has been the Right Hand, but I've declined World's Collide so far

Agree, World collide, Enemies abound 1/5 and 5/5.
I'm in a raven with T2 gears. The first two I need to call for my Dominix alt for shield transfer. Enemies 5/5 is the only one I refuse, having lost some BS there before.
The best guide I discover is this one: http://home.broadpark.no/~tijohann/eve/missions/
Kudo to the guys who put it together. Really helped save several ships...

Angel extravaganza is easy albeit a very long mission. A faction shield tanked Domi can do it, even if the drones aggro the whole first stage. My only fear on that mission is a ctd, since that usually means I've lost my drones. ------------------------------------------------- AWM Corp is Recruiting

I've done several times this mission ( all 5 steps) without any trouble ... in a Dominix ( 2x armour reps ) with 250mm hybrids and T1 drones. Is not so difficult ...

for my worlds collide is only one i reject because of difficulty. i also dont do the extravaganza ones because they just take too long. and now i have some trouble with In the Midst of Deadspace

I have just started L4 missions and my 4th or so mission I am doing is Worlds Collide, quite a tough one for me as my total skillpoints in all areas are not exactly maxed.
Launching drones causes everything to agro! eep
I managed to clear the first room, and then took the serpentis gate and cleared that room, that took about 2-3 hours in total :( And I did not manage to finish it last night so I am going to try it tonight.
*wonders if everything would have respawned and have to clear it again :P

I got first hand experience with this. Also on Worlds Collide stage 1, serps agro, let the drones out the guristas go for them.
I still need to hunt that dev on SiSi to prove that drones are not meant to do that, as one GM kindly pointed out to me, something similar to they were designed that way. -------------------------------------------

Heres my 'technique' for that last fleet spawn. I sit at max targeting range (in my domi its ~77km) ill shoot the outermost npc to cause as little agro as possible then start AB'ing away from the mob. Then ill let my light drones out to deal to the fast moving frigs that soon catch up...doing this i can kill all the frigs before the big boys roll up (my best is 12 of em before the geddons started beating on me, but that was a bad 'drag' usually youll get a smaller agro) Then basically its a case of killing off everything else thats come after you, which is a few BS and cruisers which you should be able to tank.
If you somehow manage to agro absolutely everything warp out nothing can tank all that...unless you have a very uber tank. But the worst i usually get is 1/2 the ships there.

Un fortunatly i cannot help u because i'm an armour tanker. the only thing i can tell u is that Dominix in low slots have: 2x LAR T2 2x EM hardener T2 2x Therm Hardener T2 1x CPR
I cannot run both repairer forever, but long enough that my med drones kill all frigs ... ( i have 250mm rails on high )
Probably this mission it's doable easy with an armour tank considering the 60% bese EM resistance.
about aggro i noticed that if u shot to group at left or right also the group at center will atttack u, but non all. Still they are a lot ( 4-5 bs, several cruisers, and a lot of frigs/ceptors) but not the whole stage. I think firt time i did this mission i fired the group in middle and all 3 spawns aggroed me so i had to warp, but i could kill all frigs before leaving so the next warping in i killed enough bs to be able to tank all.
