I have my own theory. I think their removal is part of the building up to the new space to colonize. If that is so, then they probably removed them because they intend to revamp and place them into a modern Eve setting. Freshly painted and equipment with eons worth of advancement that you poor capsuleers have no hope of stopping. You thought Sansha Incursions were bad. Muahahahaha.... |

Former links to Jove ships info are no linger links, but not plain text either. Had them in Brunhilde Tahl's bio, now its broken. It doesnt show right, changes done dont save, cant replace or delete those entries.
Saved fittings window is broken too. Cause I had several fittings of Jove ships imported. We fixed the fitting window a day or two later if I recall correctly. It's still pending to clean up fittings that reference these ships that don't exist anymore. Erlendur S. Thorsteinsson | Development Director | EVE Online // CCP Games | @erlendur |

I really appreciate Jove being a mystery, rather keep it that way if EVE has to live 30+ years. It's always very difficult to remove content. In this case the Jove are not being removed, they are still a part of the lore and their space is still there. But we removed art assets and item types, because:

Coffee Rocks wrote:I don't think this was intentional. This was tweeted to Erlendur, and he seemed suprised and fwded it to the Art department to have them look into it. Take that with a grain of salt, btw - I didn't look into it past that. Yes, I didn't know about and when I dug into it then the removal had been done incorrectly, both in terms of communication and the actual removal. The removal was done properly and a patchnote added for the release. We then post-deployment discovered issues in saved fittings, worked around that with a client patch and will remove these saved fittings later. Erlendur S. So Explorer, can we expect to see the Jove make any appearances in game in the future. I understand the need to keep information about the "Player Built Stargates/New Space" secret and if the Jove were intend to be utilized for that purpose we wouldn't know about it until that release, but has anyone in CCP toyed with the idea of somehow re-integrating them to the world? Just curious... |

Actually, on that note, it could be very easy to re-introduce them as playable ships without even opening up Jove Space. All you'd have to do is leave ships themselves abandoned or their BPC's available in say extremely rare anomaly sites. Make the sites pop up like once a week/month and in a completely random location. If the scanners are out there they maybe lucky enough to find one.
The site could be set up in several ways. I envision a lone object. Either a ship itself abandoned, say the crew died from Jove's disease and the ship has been a drift ever since or a mysterious cargo container with a BPC. In either event make the ship/can a hack able object and the most difficult one in the game courteous of the Jove tech. You fail it blows up like a Ghost bomb. You succeed and can either collect the BPC from the can or eject from your ship and take off in the vessel, assuming you have the skills to do so. Perhaps make it tougher still. The ship itself could have taken centuries of damage and aging leaving all equipment destroyed and the hull in a critical state. Leave some carbon, scrap metal, or rare but useless artifacts in the cargo hold.
Then it becomes a rat race. Literally. Null sec people better not get caught but gate rats or campers!!! In high sec every ganker would love to kill you in this thing before you get to station!
If the ships are obtained by building them through collected BPC's then make them utilize extremely rare and expensive materials. Maybe make them uses things you've never even heard of, but might find in those pesky Angel Cartel sites or Ghost sites. Now, suddenly, there is another mad rush to find those locations. |

This is taking a step backwards, nothing should be removed from a product.
But, with some of the lore lately. I hope that the Jove will be brought back into the light and not pushed aside for a chance at larger profits. New player experience, more highsec PvE missions, casual play, balance, counters to AFK cloaking, expanding the NEX store, and Power Projection.

The Jove existed back then to "explain" CCP members, they were all Jove, but for some stupid, boring, non-awesome reason they changed that. Whenever nickel and dime accountants get their grubby hands on art&design you know stuff gets boring and terrible.
So unless CCP learns to be awesome again, don't expect any Jove. |

I understand. There is a process here. CCP is a business and for a business to exist it needs to make money and sustain itself. It has to do what is best to make a profit, otherwise its just a charity, but at the same time this is a game so we and they (CCP) need to have some fun with it. I know its not just simply draw up a ship, drop a few lines of code into the program and wahla new Jove Ships in EVE. These things take lots of time and money, and hard work. And CCP surely has a plan, a direction for the game to go to.
I just wanted to leave my two cents on this topic. But over CCP thank you for a great experience. People might complain at times, but overall as a player of 5+ years I'm still loving it. |

And unlike the NEO commentators ( fozzie and rise shame on you ) I know the Erinye and Blade aren't Jove ships but prototype t2 ships that never got implemented :P
Erinye and Blade?
Google doesn't show me anything; do you have any info (Pics) of these ships? Friends are like cows: if you eat them, they die. |

Typical to remove outdated assets. However, there's no indication (and probably almost nobody internally at CCP really has a safe guess) on when Jove-oriented content might be added, if ever.

IIRC some older players (like 2003 or early 2004) have "jovian bits", as in body parts from an exploded jovian experiment gone wrong or something of the sort. Vacuums suck. |

Honestly, I think the model are all still absolutely beautiful. The only ones I'd ever care to see changed are the Frigates, which while very unique look quirky to me. As for the Industrial, Cruiser, Battle Cruiser, and Battleship models their form and textures are fine.
I would definitely love to see some kind of mother-ship art work introduced, even if it was just concept art or fictional combat stills from the Battle of Vak'Atioth.

I don't think we should ever be able to fly the actual Jove ships. It would ruin the mystery. Jove should continue to remain CCP's in-universe puppet faction. Things are only impossible until they are not. |
