Ever since I returned to the game in april last year, I have been getting some pretty severe memory leaks. I didnt realize until recently what was actually happening, because I am running the client on the system which is pretty dated. When I observed what was happening and looked it up here on the forums it seems that this problem happens even on brand new system. So I wanted to see what could be done.
What happens is that the game just freezes for minutes at a time, when you look at the memory consumption of the client it is rapidly counting up until at some point it dumps it all again and the client unfreezes. This happens to me specifically when I am running 2 clients, If I'm running just 1 there is no issue. I do a lot of PI production and have observed that after a while factory icons starts flashing and show corrupted graphics. I also have observed that sometimes when I jump into a system the camera will be zoomed out to a very wide distance, way further than the client can normally do and the items on the overwiew will be invisible but still clickable.
If this is related then my guess is that its an issue with my graphics card, I have a rather old Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 and some blues posted that there are issues with Geforce cards and also posted a possible workaround, he said to set prerendered frames in the nvidia controlpanel to 1, which I did but either that is not working or its not working for more than 1 client.
I have also tried setting all graphic settings in the game to low but it doesnt seem to have any effect on the leaks.
My alternatives at the moment seems to be, either spend money to get my **** upgraded and MAYBE get it fixed or just dont dualbox my 2 accounts. Neither of which have very much appeal.
DXdiag:

Yes I know I should get my winXP upgraded. Same reason why I am running such an old system, being poor sucks.
Any advice? |

Just out of curiosity, is there a known problem with these? I've been having some video driver crashes the last few days and I'm on the latest version (actually last version now, update popped up this morning that I'm hoping will fix it). No problems with Eve so far though. |

I use an ATI gfx card (HD5770) and I have the same; however, this is problem is new since 1.3 and has not happened with previous versions of Rubicon. Over the day, RAM usage built up to 2.7GB/2.8GB per client and is still increasing. Normal RAM usage is around 800MB.

Please run with LogServer and file a bug report. That might give me useful details to track this down. Mention my name (CCP Snorlax) in the bug report title so it gets routed to me right away.

i can confirm this normal ram usage 800MB slowly creeping up to 1.6GB after two hours. I guess it would continue creeping.... Need to restart every hour for dual box.
It appeared after Rubicon 1.3!

I bug reported the memory leak issue after Mar 13 patch [1.3] -- it's still happening as of 14 March after d/t.
memory leaks even with single account running.
bug report with DxDiag submitted yesterday.
Win 7 Pro; 64 bit. ATI HD 6870 with current drivers.
I note that MicroSoft pushed seven updates the night before our patch and that I can not tell if any of these had any effect on the problem.
I sent all of our alliance an evemail explaining the problem and giving them the reboot workaround. You all might want to do the same, even if you're our current opponents.
[note: frequency of reboot -- divide your memory size in gigabytes by the number of clients you're running. Reboot each client every that many hours. example: 4 Gb memory and two clients -- reboot each client every two hours.]
Older than dirt. Older than EVE, too. |

Same here with a windows xp, dual account
memory leaks up to 3.9 giga then warning pop up about low virtual memory available
Same as Neto Padecain , my client its most noticeably on docking, undocking and gate jumping, many lags, many drive swaps
Before path memory never reach 2.4 giga
Something has changed

Hello everyone,
Unchecking "Audio enable" is slowing down the creep for me. I can now dualbox for 6 hours (6 times longer than before).
But without all the alarms it is way unsafer I think it would somhow explain why its even ocurring when sitting on station (when no new textures are cached. hopefully.)
---> Maybe you guys give it a try and report back if it works for you.

Years ago I had this problem with some software and a memory manager tool worked wonders for me. Has anyone tested to see if this would work in this case without crashing the EVE client, eliminating the need for reboots, until the leaks are fixed? See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did. |

I always shy away from memory manipulation in the games i play, but maybe a dev can answer this:
Would it be legal for me to hook up EvE to IBM Purify or equivalant to troubleshoot things like this? |

This happens with only one client too.
- Reinstalled Windows7 SP1 , all updates applied.
- Reinstalled EVE from scratch.
- Tried with catalyst drivers 12.10 , 13.4 , 13.9, 13.12 (working fine before 1.3), and even 14.3beta (Radeon 5870)
- Using dx9 or dx11 the problem is the same.
The problem started with Rubicon 1.3
The memory goes up in session change only ie: after jumps and dock/undock. Being AFK docked or undocked in system for hours doesn't cause a leak.
Workaround at the moment:? reset the client every 10 jumps or so.

I observed the same behavior. The client that did the most jumps yesterday (around 120 I think) reached the memory cap of 2.9GB in the evening and crashed, while my other account, which mostly sat in station and had done only around 30 jumps had only reached 1.2GB memory usage. |

As far as I can tell, (using the Resource Monitor) the client leaks memory continuously, in all situations. Dual boxing just makes it run out of memory faster... and indeed jumping seems to eat the most mem in one go. It feels like ~ 7Mb for a normal jump and 2x that for a region jump.
e.g. from a clean start, I arrived at a mission with 740Mb commit. By the time I was finished with the mission, it was 818Mb ... I then aligned to the station and touched nothing ... 15 mins later it was at 820Mb
I'm on Windows 7 (32 bit) with a HD5700 card.
I first knew something was up when upon docking, most the the station was missing (black) and I could see white silhouettes of the NPC ships outside flying around... followed soonafter by a crash.
At the moment I've just keeping Resource Monitor up and rebooting the client when I have only 100Mb mem available.

Wonderful! Done a couple of dozens of jumps already and the memory usage of the clients is steady at ~800-900MB. Good fix. |
