I think CCP should reschedule the patch and let us play the game.
Obviously they have run into some difficulties they did not expect, and these problems could and should be fixed while the game is up and running, instead of continuing to increase the downtime.
I think CCP fears an outcry from players though, if no patch is produced to justify the current downtime, so they will probably be stubborn and keep the game offline til they can fix the patch, which looks like several more hours to go.
I do think it would be best to cut their losses now and reschedule though.

Never ceases to amaze me how some of the inbred single cell brainers manage to turn a simple forum thread concerning the patch into a flame war involving Euros and Americans. When you simple minded f*cks wake up and realize that we all share this ball of mud, that we all bleed red regardless of race, creed or religion we all MIGHT come just a whit closer to making this a better place to live. For those of you who flame THIS post -- you've done nothing but prove me right (ie. you ARE inbred and you have but ONE cell floating around in yer damn brainpan) and shown others that YOU are the ones that perpetuate this infantile horse**** flame game.
Regardless of when the game gets patched (European time or American time) it's just more par for the course. Deal with it and move on. Yes it kinda makes all of us wonder why it's taking so long but I'm not astounded OR surprised that CCP hasn't posted any type of information on the state of the EVE-Universe and this "uber-nerf" patch as it has been called by some. |

Last I checked, Europe was wayyyy ahead of the states, man... I live in little old Denmark, where practically everybody gaming has at least 256/256 - most are actually on broadband... just got back from the US where I spent an agonizing 2 weeks on 56k *shudder*
Kid, just because scandinavian countries are on top of ****e that does not mean all of Europe is.
Also, broadband (adsl, dsl) is just the broadband of poor people, try cable, then laugh.
And EVERY gamer in the us that plays online and does not live in the STIX has cable internet.
So what's wrong with xDSL? Here in Sweden we have VDSL, 26 mb up and down. Better than cable, I think And only $40 a month :) Not too bad eh?
Let the patching take it's time. It's better to wait and get something that works than to get something useless.

This is hilarious. "CCP should reschedule the patch so I can play."
Here's a better idea: reschedule your playing time so CCP can patch!

Veruna, save your joy of flaming anyone and everyone for the inbreds.
My opinion isn't about me, I can do other things and am not dependent on this game for a meaning of life. I just think it would serve the EVE community best if they rescheduled at this point.

he he silly yanks... other than maybe people in spain and portugal pretty much every european I ever came across im my long mmorpg experience had a faster than isdn line. In Holland alone (where i'm at) more than 60 percent of the population not only has a computer but is connected through dsl or cable, while whole hordes of yanks sit around crippling the internet with their puny 56k lines (which i believe is due to that fact that in most places in the US local calls are free)... so don't sit around telling us that Europe is backwards in any way, because by doing that you only betray your own general ignorance of what life in Europe is like...thanks for a good laugh :) ****
now reguarding the DT, well they got to do it some time don't they? there will always be someone that's got a problem with it regardless of what time they choose so it might as well stay the way it is.

Jorev, I understand your wanting to get a session started -- I think we all do. EVE-Online is very addictive! But rescheduling a patch to accomodate the "I need my fix!" crowd is non-productive and not very pragmatic. There are a great many things in previous patches that performed like Tech 5 items (the Photonic Coprocessor is a perfect example). CCP needed to get this game off the ground and running as quickly as possible, and I think that they spiced up the start of this game (in terms of modules, etc.) in an effort to interest the gaming community. Although there are some things about the patch that are going to be a bit tough to work around, I honestly feel that CCP is giving it their best shot on an "across the board" game balance.
Jorev, it's something that needs to be done bro. Just surf the web for a bit, chill, grab a beer and enjoy some downtime from the rat race we all lovingly call EVE-Online. |

Edited by: Master Scy on 17/09/2003 15:09:02 Population density is rising, and so are political tensions (water wars in a few decades). Meanwhile it's becoming easier and easier to destroy ourselves. Thefore, humanity's chance of survival keeps falling... I can't say when we'll finish ourselves off, but every year it's more likely than the last. ----------------------------- You think Marco Polo said "Damn Mongolians were camping that cave entry into the next valley the entire day, you can't get friggin anywhere in the world with those damn griefer tribes all over the place" ? -Indigo Seqi

what we need is a good old fashioned world war. Thin out the population a little bit...and besides, nothing brings people together better than the rebuilding after a good war.

hey hey, this is a sweet thread.
Can I just say that:
- There is no ******* bandwidth cap. Eve just uses hardly any bandwidth (try it - CTRL-ALT+F9 (I think) will display your network stats.) it is about 1/60th of what Unreal Tournament (1999) used to use.
- Display lag in Eve is not caused by modems. It's caused by hardware bottlenecks.
- 'Real' Lag (rubberbanding) in Eve is caused by a spate of port 135 worms, which will decimate any network they touch (our hospital just got taken offline for 4 days (not my fault)) because of nachi, and some **** ignoring our security policies.
- America have a lot of things (I won't mention any here, because the first things that come to mind are fast food and Microsoft)
- Europe have a lot of things (like castles, Mad cow disease, German cars, Drunkenmaster, expensive petrol, more than 200 years of history, an Eve Cluster...)
So er...
where was I?
well, anyway. shut up with yer moaning, the lot of ya.
I'd also advise people to take these 4 hours to at least cordially browse through the patch notes. The spate of 'What?!??12' threads that get posted on or near patchday is nothing short of hilarious. .

Another interesting anecdote for all the flamers that never got past page one of this post...
You are fun. hehe thank you.
About the end of the world: Our technology will either be our salvation, or our doom, it has a potential for both, human nature is the problem, maybe when women take over the world we will last longer, maybe the suicide rates due to nagging will climb... who knowns...
