Is the concept of making a T1 battle cruiser for ORE a good idea or bad idea if it took the exact bonuses from an orca and placed it on a "relatively" cheap battle cruiser hull.
It'd likely be similar to the prophecy and myrmidon though not as effective in combat, but capable of loading more links or have a reduction in fitting requirements for command processors.

The idea of a poor man's orca or Porca is somewhat amusing.
I think that if you gave it the size/mass/handling of a BC, and the same booster bonuses of an orca, but strip away the tractor/survey along with the large orca hauling capacity, that it might have a niche use for high risker boosting areas like 0.0 (Esp in WHs.)
Of course at that point you are almost better off just using a prophecy with some T2 links and a mindlink implant.

no. If you want a poor-man's orca, then literally get one of those ships, load it with command processors, and run mining links. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

I'd support an ore CS. Bonus to mining and siege links, no hauling ability but respectable combat capability. Alternatively it could be made more into a scout type ship with a probing bonus and maybe a cov ops cloak. Fireworks and snowballs are great, but what I really want is a corpse launcher. |

Whats stopping you from putting mining links on a BC? Want all 3 at once? Fit 2 Command Processors.
Drake has 6 midslots. Use that. It can even sit in the belt and shoot rats with its remaining 4 launcher slots and drones. It will be gimped significantly on fitting. But it can be done. Free Ripley Weaver! |

You don't get the bonuses for the links off the hull and a mind-link isn't for a poor man... they cost over 800m a piece... |

The Mining Foreman Mindlink is down to about 50 million, not that expensive. That drake setup is decent for a poorman setup, but the capacitor link is largely unnecessary. Novis Initiis is Recruting-á --á Ideas for Drone Improvement |

Thank you sir! Last time I looked they were more than ten times that so I stopped thinking about them. At the current price I can once again fit one on my mining foreman since losing the last one by not realising it was in when entering pvp.
Also, Drakes make good cheap mining booster ships. |

EVE is a very complex beast with a solution for MOST situations, Some more practical and efficient than others.
With that being said, Here's some of my thoughts on this particular idea.
Is it "needed?" no. Would it be fun/helpfu? YES! Are there other ways to do what this ship would do? yes. Could this ship be tailored to do it better? YES!
What I would envision is a T2 Noctis variant with an emphasis on high risk mining support.
Some boosting bonus (1.5~2% per level instead of on par with Orca to keep the Orca desirable?) Fleet Ore Hold (Same functionality as a fleet hangar but can only hold ore/gas/ice) Since mobile Depots are now something everyone has, adding fitting service to the ship may seem more reasonable? Maybe a bonus to repair and mining drones? Perhaps a new mining foreman link that boosts mining drone yield?
Just some thoughts, I'm by no means an expert on any of this stuff so take it for what you will :) |

precisely, its a 'poor mans' set up, not a 'whats the point in an orca' set-up. There are no vets in EVE. Only varying levels of Noobery. |

ORE boosting ship
A ship that could just sit and boost a mining fleet that was smaller and cheaper to construct than an Orca would be useful in C1 wormholes where you cant bring in an Orca so you can ninja mine, or if you are just starting out it could be useful. So there are places where it can be used.
It could always have to be on grid to boost and maybe have the use of medium drones or something giving it a role as a defence ship too, I know that is a popular idea for ORE ships as well, so kill 2 birds with 1 stone. |

There is only one mining link that you would want and that is the tech2 laser optimization link.
You and put it on any battlecruiser you like and get +18.75% mining yield without any implants. In return you can shoot the order guys that want to shoot your corpmates.
Some of the battlecruisers give 'hidden' additions to some links, so far I can confirm that a Ferox give you a little more % on some (as in 'not all') shield links and information warfare links.

I like the idea of giving it some oomph on the drone side. It would add a lot of versatility to it while leaving the high slots for boosts. |

T2 venture? exploration and boost
designed to locate areas for ninja mining and then provide boost. not sure i like the defence role, defeats the idea of ninja mining.
