OK, as promised days ago, i said I would post fittings for all the minmatar frigs, so lets start at the beginning, the humble slasher.
I didnt fly the slasher untill 2 months after i started playing! more fool me!
ok, setup time:
NUB SLASHER:
PVE: HIGH - 2 x 150 mm ACs - Rocket Launcher/NOS MED - AB (best that u can get) - Small sheild booster (civilian if fitting is too tight) LOW - Nanofiber/gyrostabiliser
that should get you through a few things, just keep the afterburner on all the time and keep moving, and you should do fine!
PVP GANG: same as PVE but with a 7.5 k scrambler in the med slot, a nos instead of the rocket launcher, and an armour repper in low
orbit target at 500m with the AB on, and scramble, nos, shoot in that order.
OK, that will please the newer players to the game, just starting out, now for us people with decent skills!
SLASHER:
PVE: HIGH - 2 x 125mm ACs - NOS MED - Named MWD/T2 AB (AB is for dedspaces) - Named TP LOW - Named/T2 Gyrostabiliser
Im sure you guys can get the tactics just keep up the transversal.
PVP: Im not oging to bother, if you are experienced enough to use a MWD, you arent likely to use a slasher unless your suicidal. (I HAVE done, I AM suicidal, I DID get ganked)
The main advantage of the slasher is the price! 40k!!! so for all those with good navigation skills, put a nanofibre in low, a MWD, and a cap battery and you have yourselves a very good shuttle, with oodles of room!
And for those just starting out, the slasher is cheep enough to be losable, just insure it first guys mmmkay.
ENJOY!

Change out the small shield booster for a webber, and a gyro for an armor rep, sucks at tanking either way, and now you get a webbed target. |

The slasher is an underated ship. The rifter outclasses it by far, but they serve different purposes.
I once batted around an idea of a swarm attack with slashers. a highly agile and confusing prey to say the least.
Take 10 slashers with newer players and go ganking. Back them up with a couple destroyers and maybe a cruiser, and who knows what will happen.
If anyone has tried something like this, i would like to know if it is actually an effective tactic

yup, the slasher is a great advanced shuttle!
and i haev taken a bunch of new players out in frigs, we had a few condors, i was in a rifter, some more frigs, even a bantam, we ganked a pirate in a crusier, then all his corp mates came in and we had a great time with noobs blowing up left and right. half of them warped to a station or stargate streight after i said "do NOT warp to anywhere with sentry guns"
ahh, the good old days... oh wait... that was 2 weeks ago =P

The Slasher is an amazingly fast ship. My mining character uses it for scouting market prices. With only 4 day old skills, I can get the Slasher to hit 1117m/s using Cold Arc-Jet Thruster AB.
Plus it's signature radius is so low it makes it very hard for much bigger ships to hit it.

local hull overdrive injector and a catalysed cold-gas arcjet thruster with a small/micro cap battery and you have a ship that goes over 4k a second permenetly.
I used this with a cloak once, ran through a bubble and left them without anyoner lockign me, and i saved about 10 mil of POS feul that my mate was hauling. Its a good ship, but when you use modules on it that are 125x the price of this ship (cloak) it gets REAL fun bombing through a 0.0 gate camp.

Which is better for a fast, cheap, shuttle?
Executioner pros: 2 low slots Slasher cons: 1 low slot
What do you think?
Edit: fixed my dumb errors...

slasher, goes faster anyway, smaller sig radius = longer lock on times from other ships, it goes into warp faster.
allthough i havent tried the other frig with 2 nanos in low.... hmmm.... test it yourself you lazy bum lol

Hmmm... Interesting results when I ran both ships through QuickFit. I fitted a 1MN Afterburner I for each, and the maximum number of Nanofiber Internal Structure I's for each, which is 2 for the Executioner and 1 for the Slasher.
Results: 1.) The Executioner has a 10% larger signature than the Slasher: 33 meters versus 30 meters. 2.) The Slasher is faster than the Executioner, but by less than one percent. 3.) The Executioner is much more agile than the Slasher, 12.5% more agile, to be exact.
Conclusion: A toss-up, if you ask me. I prefer the Executioner because of looks, and because you can swap out the Nanos for 2 Warp Core Stabilizers in a pinch...

With decent skills, I found I can do any lvl 1 mission in a Slasher...
Great fun when one gets bored of doing them in larger ships...
My set-up:
2x 200mm autos, rocket launcher afterburner, small shield boost nanos...

That's actually a very good question. I was comparing them with Minmatar Frigate 3 and Amarr Frigate 0. But when I set Amarr Frigate to 3, I got the same results. Note that when I say less than 1% faster, I mean the Slasher is only 0.25% faster, with low (1 week-old) skills. With my other character, with higher skills, the Slasher is 0.75% faster than the Executioner...

yeah, lvl 1s in a slasher is fun, but try lvl 2s =P
o, 1 thing about this setup, lose the 200mms in favour of 125mms, better tracking, longer firing and you get a better DOT that 200mms.

Edited by: Daftex Muleson on 08/12/2006 14:00:42 Just to add to this old thread as I've just bought a Slasher for a luagh.
SPEEDY SLASH
Highs: Whatever, not important. (I have 200mm, 150mm and rocket) Mids: Named MWD, Cap Recharger Low: Overdrive
Over 3,600 m/s with my current skills. Use it for recci but it's also just great fun for 'scortin' around systems for the hell of it

I am not sure about the overdrive.
How'd inetia stabilizers fare instead of overdrives and nanofibers in conjunction with the mwd? --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

Only one low slot. Need to do a test to see whether nano or OD gives better speed. Guess nano gives better agility overall. Innertia stabiliser would work too although it's pretty damn nimble anyway...although close orbit with the MWD is tricky

well i sue mine as "the Salvaging tool"
High: 3xSalvager I Med: named AB, Small Capacitor reserve Low: Capacitor Power Realy
even with my measly skills it flies over 1k/s and can run all 3 salvagers continously, as i use a frig to kill things i usually can't fit an salvager on it so thes one (LooterI) comes along and Salvages everything. also with the salvaged components being made smaller the low cargo is no prob even in bigger fights =)

Slasher FTW. 2x 150mm scouts, 1 x Arbelest Rocket Launcher, Cold gas arcjet AB, 1x small sheild booster II, and a Overdrive T2 as well, kills anything that doest web me... Havent tried to fit a MWD but that could be a lot of fun too.
Have killed many Rat Cruiser in this, highest bounty value 125k
