Edited by: Spokesperson on 11/03/2006 16:12:42 I just browsed the alliance stats, and there are 10 alliances with a member count of 5 or less.
Is creating an alliance too easy now that we have more players, and more people being able to afford it. Should the requirements get higher?

I personally couldn't care less how many alliances there are.
Why care if an alliance only has 5 people? How does it affect you?

It affects the game.
Whats the point if we get a whole bunch of one man alliances?

Certainly there could be a screening rule on the alliances page...
to only display alliances with 50 members and over. would clean it up i think, but its only minor for me ------------------------------------

What affect does it have?
How does an alliance without any people change anything?
Do you have any facts to back this up?

Those low member count alliances you see are mostly the result of dissolutions, mergers, and defeats. They exist on silicon in CONCORD's databse but they are hardly a cause for any concern.

I think it dumbes down the whole question of what an alliance is.

If these low pilot count alliances are the result of disbanded alliances Xetic being a case in point then what difference does it make.
Perhaps you can explain in a little more detail. You just saying it dumbs down what alliances are sopposed to be make little or no sense. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Its a good thing, it means someone spent a bil to form it at some point.
That means isk sink, its a good thing.

You know, there are high member count alliances that essencially do the same thing. I won't list examples here because that would be smack.

Why would these people create an alliance with only 3 members? Isnt a corp enough?
I thought alliances were for those of a certian size. Thats why they are listed in the backstory section on eve-o. But to list small, inactive 1 man alliances is silly.

Just because you have some form of elitest view of what constitutes an alliance, doesn't mean that everyone else does. So what if 5 one man corps decide to spend a billion isk and form an alliance. It's no less valid than any other alliance and serves the purpose that they are after. If you want to look at the alliance page and disregard alliances with fewer than 100 people, then that is your right, but don't try and alter game mechanics to restrict people from doing what they want just because you have some misguided sense of elitism.

Our alliance has under 50 members however i'm willing to wager we'd kick the crap outa most of the alliances above us.
Also why should we have to have a huge member count to be a proper alliance.
Alliances like ours are full of experienced active characters whereas you get other alliances that are filled with new players ... Whose is the better ?
The simple fact is an alliance doesn't need a huge member count. I think Xetic proved that it can be detrimental to have a huge number of members
I never think of the future - It comes soon enough |
