Close enough, for those interested;
Speed of sound (Mach 1) at sea level = 340.29 m / s

Crusader + Gist MWD + Domi Overdrives + Snake Set = 11 KM/S with max nav skills. Claw is a few hundred MS slower with the same setup
Gold Magnate can reach 13km/s with that setup, theres none left ingame though -------

Can u believe 2 supersonic fighters can tackle each other at 2km orbit!
Ok if we take out of G-Force out of topic than again will our graphic cards handle such fast moving ships...
And then how would it be to have 2 seconds to target enemy and then just see that enemy ship fly by you...
Ok then, what about warping inside a station and doing zig zags to get rid of it? Is it truely logical?
Do we need logic?
As the topic asking about what is the max sub-warp speed in Eve...
Do we need engineers?

Merkin wants to know what this guy is gunna do with all this speed?
Snort it?
Long trip to Jove if its even possible... though I think you will die of old age long after the first of us has used a warp drive to get there if thats the case..

Going to Jove would be nice :D - but even nicer would be if when there, you get popped by theyre "CONCORD" before making a bookmark. h3h3h3h3h3
I thing the more likely ideea for it is to make super safespots. To actually get it with probes you need a triangle, how is one gonna do that ? you can not. so this is a supersafespot :D

Still hoping to break the 5k/s barrier prior to training the final skill for an interceptor :) ----- Memorable Quotes <Jarltan Dimtras> OH MY GOD MY GF IS A DUDE |

Edited by: Scimatar Wolff on 16/02/2006 21:24:43 Thanks for all the good replyes, guys. And for those who are curious to know why i want to go this fast in subwarp... Im not setting up safespots, but am planing a trip to the center of a sun. (and yes, Nyphur. im allso conciderong a trip to the eve wormhole.) I cant fly interceptors yet =(. will have to train for amarr then.

Josh, I think you are slightly out on your calculations: Crusader Thats with an mixed low-grade/full snake set and only level 4 on skirmish. I think I crunched the numbers at somewhere around 14km/s with a full set

Bad news about the eve wormhole: It's in the skybox which means that you'll never get there, even if you were warping at 120 au/s.
Furthermore if you travel into a sun, assuming you make it before we're old and gray, you will just bounce off as if it was a veldspar asteroid.
Sorry to ruin your hopes and dreams kid but this game isnt really ment for exploration or anything like that (though it would be fun.. maybe a science vessel class?).

so we're all still curious where the OP thinks he's going to go aren't we?
They invented the warp drive for a reason methinks.
Actually if you do the math, our ships are SLOW. My cruiser without any boosting, at his normal speed pokes (I guess we're supposed to say "cruises") along at 190 m/sec or so...Mach 0.5...isnt that a good speed for a Boeing or Airbus? Not very impressive for a spaceship.
Correct me if my math is wrong...
1 AU is 150 million kilometers, give or take. At 50km/s, that is 3 million seconds, or 833 hours = 35 days. For ONE AU. Thus, to reach outside even normal scanner range would take you at least 1.3 years at a ridiculously high speed, constant travel, no downtime.
So no, since multi AU/s 8mwd scorps are gone, no pseudo-warp drive permitted. -- Originally by: Nyphur The irony is astounding. The sheer level of raw irony here is enough to iron my clothes for a year.

Sigma,
Farjung usually knows his stuff. Here's his Top speed calculation guide.
It doesn't mention sustainabilty, but for frigs (which are the fastest ship class) and maybe even cruisers most skilled Navigators won't have a problem keeping it going forever.
For specific examples, Hippoking did a Space Speed Record thread earlier last year, which doesn't really have any recent (speak: RMR) entries, and don't mention sustainablilty again either.
Still, some of these are going to be awfully hard to beat.
Hmm, anyone got an idea how fast a Scimitar could go? I've seen one over 3300 m/s yesterday, from a pilot who wasn't yet able to use 10MN MWD II.

woot! another nut case like me!
dont listen to them, follow your dreams, you can reach your goals, i'm livng proof!
BEEFCAKE!!!!!
and in a slightly more normal tone, i have a bookmark 0km from a star i used an interceptor and it took me 3 evenings worth of travel. i, however didnt swap my sheild booster out for extra cap so i had to keep waiting for my cap to recharge
as for your ship and fittings. take a look on the market for the fastest frigit you can fly. and also look out for the one with the most low slots. now grab one of each and play with the best mwd you can fit and the best overdrives you can get. then just see which one goes fastest (and cram those mid slots with cap rechargers or cap batteries, try a mixture untill ure cap stable)
i recomend overdrives before nano's on this because you want the best max speed. in normal flight like the 15km to a gate or can looting etc nano's are much better. if you compare the two you will see your ships hits a higher speed before u crash into the gate with nanos than with the "faster" overdrives. accelleration is a wonderfull thing . but for the task you have set your self accelleration is not very usefull when your at max speed for hours on end.
one other thing, if you do manage to "hit" the sun, like you can with planets, please let me know. after much messing about i can get close enough so my overview says 0km but i'm still not touching the sun
maybe its a built in safty feature of the ship where it starts to wonder off at an angle if you get too close to those blazing inferno's or maybe the suns postition doenst match up with where the sun is drawn.
dont forget to check out all the navigation skills. there are ones to make you faster and others to reduce afterburner and mwd cap use. and good luck Because sometimes you just have to go back to your roots: [2005.02.20 01:08:03] (combat) Your Civilian Light Electron Blaster perfectly strikes Serpentis Smuggler, wrecking for 20.3 damage. |

well i remember back in the old days when you could stack MWD's and get ships going 1au/s subwarp :)

This post would have been more interesting in the old days when ships could fit and use more than 1 microwarp drive at a time.
Even so: 8.2km/s roughly on my crusader.
