What is up with this ? This is probably one of the most serious bugs I have seen in a while.
If this isnt fixed soon everyone will end up being a pirate and people that dont want to loose their sec rating wont pvp. So either way, this kills pvp in a huge way. Takes ages to gain sec rating, and then when you go hunt PC pirates in 0.0 space you loose sec rating.
I have seen this happen in Catch, Curse and Syndicate among other systems so we arent talking about some empire controlled 0.0 space here.

Edited by: Johnson McCrae on 31/08/2003 04:03:41 Here's a clue:
Look at your location. Note its says what system, constelation and region your in. Does it ALSO say what Soverinty? Guess what, that means its an EMPIRE! Mind you, in 0.0 its a MINOR one, but still classed as one.
The above knowedge gained from a dev, who was too distracted not to tell me. It ain't over till the fat lady falls on ya!

Edited by: fireal on 31/08/2003 04:20:10 Your basicly saying that every system in eve is empire space. Stop talking if you dont know what your talking about

So there are empires of 1 single system?
Cause thats what happened to me :) In venal there is exactly 1 ssytem where you lose security status and in all the otehrs there is not a single problem.

Johnson is right. A 0.0 system is not necessarily non-empire space. A system is only non-empire if there's no sovereignity listed. ________________________________________________

As mentioned above there is sovereign 0.0 and there is unclaimed 0.0. As an example, Pure Blind is mostly 0.0 space and is part of Sisters of EVE territory. Go further up into Venal and beyond and there is no sovereignty claimed, and hence no sec hit. This situation is mirrored right around the rim of the galaxy.

Edited by: fireal on 31/08/2003 15:01:44 Newsflash: Most 0.0 have sovereignty. Stain = Sanshas nation. Syndicate = Syndicate. So you are both saying that this happens in all 0.0 systems except the funky ones with no stations. This isnt the case
In Catch HED-GP is bugged, others are not that I am aware off. In syndicate FD-MLJ is bugged but not PF-346 and other systems. So how do you explain that ?

Actually if you kill a ship in true 0.0 sec space nothing happens if you destroy the pod you will get a sec hit (if the sec level of the other player was higher than -5) it was announced some patches earlier.

Edited by: drunkenmaster on 02/09/2003 11:58:01 I lost 3.0 sec for repeatedly attacking, and podding a bountied player in 0.0 space, taking my sparkling 6.4sr down into the low 3's. I doubt I'll ever be able to get those back.
It's not the end of the world.
Catch, Curse and Syndicate are all borderline sovereignties. If you attack people in X-482H (not real, but a good approximation) type regions, you will take no sec hit at all. If it has a 'proper' name, then there's a very good chance you will.
Also, get yourself an agent, and it won't even matter. .

U definitely do not take sec hits for killing pods in MOST .0 areas

Seems this was due to a rounding error, so was probably showing some systems that should've been 0.1 as 0.0
According to the patchlog this is now fixed in the latest build.

think about it.. in 0.0 space there is no one to conferm u really did kill someone.. doesnt it sound realistic that ur sec rate wotn change that way... unless u pod someone --- "this song reminds me of the girl i met on a schooltrip, she was really nice, and she really liked me. That's even worse - PF-346 is right next to empire space and FD-MLJ, the bugged system, is 1 jump away (FD -> PF -> Orvolle).
