Ok, now we all know most Minmatar ships are mediocre in PvP, but really suck in PvE.
However, the new Sleipnir looks quite promising, although it is a huge investment of sp and ISK. How well will this ship be able to do ratting? I do not have doubts regarding its tanking ability, but what about damage output?
Will average rat killing speed be up to par with other command ships? Will it even be able to compete with battleships like the raven?

c'mon, somebody must have made a more detailed comparison of the command ships regarding their combat abilities :)

seriously this is no brainer, its a slower vagabond with 7 turrets instead of 5, with more tanking ability. uh.

more like a vagabond tbh
Command Ships Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to Medium Projectile Turret damage and 5% bonus to Medium Projectile Turret falloff per level
that and cramming on 7 720 t2's might be a bit tricky pg wise

The Sleipnir fits a full rack of 720 II's, with a PDU based shield tank quite easily, and with high skills even has enough CPU and grid left over for a Medium NOS II, launcher, or Command module.
Additionally, the Fall Off bonus is almost as good for Artillery as the Optimal range bonus, and you end up getting more range with EMP, than you would have with a compairable Optimal bonus.
Finally, it has double stacked damage bonuses (an RoF from the Cyclone, and a damage from Command).
I see the Sleipnir as the fulfillment of the concept the Muninn was attempting but never quite managed.
The Vagabond was always much more of a lightning raider. While it has a similar bonus pattern, and was typically shield tanked, it was never, to my knowledge, a successful heavy tanker, on the pattern of the Sleipnir, or even the Muninn's armour tank, preffering instead to rely on speed and agility. Who would have wanted to anyways? The Vaga handles like a frigate with big hulking guns.
The Sleipnir is much more a more heavily protected, heavier gunned Muninn, than it is an extension of the Vagabond philosophy. It's just to hulking big for that.

Minmie ships rock tbh, most people just use them wrong and try to tank them like amarr ships. They're designed for short engagements, as seen by their speed, low signature and small projectile clips. ----

9 months? You gotta better things to worry about than a Command Ship. If you stake your joy on that you will just be forever postponing it...
My Command ship slices through rats "with the quickness." Its as fast or faster than a Tempest but takes less damage from BS. However, a cruiser spawn can dish out the damage. I have only had to warp out once in several months.

Im gonna pretend uve just been blind this whole time and dont know wtf ur talking about when u make a statement like this.
Rifter= one of the best t1 frigs in game Rupture= along w the thorax is arguably the best pvp t1 cruiser. Cyclone= Again along the brutix is the best BC BS= tempest is leet in fleet engagements and w AC it can hold its own vs a mega if it dictates range. AF= wolf/jag some of the best in game HAC= vaga...... CS= sleipnir owns u
Comong bro dont buy into the crap the whiners talk about. Minnies got some good ships. They may have issues with the fact they need 2 dmg bonuses to bring em up to par, but their far from broken.

Edited by: Sebai Hana on 18/09/2006 18:22:53 I don't think that Cyclone is one of the best T1 BCs.
Ferox owns Cyclone in nearly all ways exept from DPS and speed which should be compensated by Ferox shieldtank (which is awsome), it also got decen't DPS with BCUs.
In short I would go for Brutix first and then Ferox, but then again you can argue which is most fun to fly.
EDIT: Also the Mega can hit from long range and nearly have the same DPS, Pest needs a buff . Or atleast Hail needs to better.

Battlecruisers scale alot with skills more than any other ships ingame, with exception of probably the typhoon and nightmare. The difference between BC1 and BC 5 is like night and day. The problem the cyclone has is the stupid "new minnie" philosopy of going split weapons systems but only bonus to one (see naggy for other examples). ---------------------------------------- Back for a month cus BS5 finished..... |

training for a sleipnir you will not be disappointed. great ship all the way around, great damage, great tank. to compare it to a vaga is wrong due to the fact no ship inthe game really compares to the vaga.

The sliepnir tanks hard and has good dps. It should suffice for all your carebearing pleasures.
