Can remote armor repair systems be used on drones? If so can it be effective to use them during actual combat, or is it more useful for patching up afterwards?
Thanks

Yes they can. It can be used for actual combat, but is much easier if you wait until afterwards to repair them.

I personally didn't much like using the Remote Armor repairers in combat. The big problem is that you have to have your target locked. So you have to un-lock an enemy if you're at max, and then lock the drone. Because of their size, it takes a good long while to lock a drone, and you really have to anticipate its health to get it in time.
Plus, there's the oh-so-embarrasing risk of accidentally repairing the armor of your adversarial target ... which, um ... no I never did.
I find pulling 'em back into the drone-bay before they lose much armor is a better way to manage 'em. Just a couple of seconds in the drone bay and their shields are fully recharged and any target locks on 'em are broken. Release and send 'em back into the fray.

Sorry to butt in here with an OT question while you're talking about remote repair drones.
How good are they for tanking or does it take too many to do it?
I wondered cos it would save cap for other things like guns etc on a smaller ship like a small cruiser. -- My idea of an OS is one that Operates the System, not a complete package of every piece of software ever written. Computers created "The Paperless Office". But some stupid fool invented a printer |

Remotes are only good on other people's ships. So if you're solo, they won't do anything for you. If you have a ship geared to it, it's great, though they really suck up cap. But you need to be in a group.

I think he's referring to the various Armor Repair Logistics Drones.
I'd also like to know more about their use and effectiveness as I'll be able to use 'em sometime in the next week or so.

Same with the logistic drones - they cannot be used on yourself - only a target and as yet you cannot target yourself.
