These things have the shortest warp range in the history of eve I swear to god! I thought these things were ment to be long range bombers (ie the RL stealth bomber) but getting from a -- b somtimes takes 3 warps...
stupid!

Sure the Manticore has issues, but the Nemesis is fine most of the time.

Sigma,
to be honest, I think stealth bombers are far from long range fighters.
Quoted from a random google match:
The distinction between fighter and bomber may also have been decided by the F-117's range and payload, which make it a 'theatre' strike aircraft rather than a long-range strategic bomber. Indeed, the F-117 carries a smaller bombload than many USAF fighters, a consequence of the need to carry its weapons and fuel internally.
You're looking for the non-stealth ones.

Just means if someone is chasing you, that you can lead them towards a different place and end up going to an entirely different place :) Funny quotes:

Train up Warpdrive operation to lvl 4 or 5, and donŠt fit a mwd, and they work fine. However the manticore tends to behave like a kessie when it comes to longer warps.

Thats all great and all, but the F-117 is not the air forces stealth bomber, that is the stealth fighter.
The stealth bomber is the B2-B.

Actually, no the F-117 and the B-2 are both stealth bombers. B-2 payload is larger yet not very much so.
The only 'stealth' fighter that is in production are the F-22 Raptor and the upcoming JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) to be employed by the US Navy, Marines, and Air force, specifically custom tailored to each branch's needs. Such as tailhooks and sturdier landing gear for carrier landings, and vertical takeoff/landing for the Marine Corp. Not sure what the AF gets.

The F-117 is not a bomber in the same way that the B2 is a bomber; it's an attack plane. I think a more appropriate designation would be A-117. How it got the F fighter designation is the subject of some speculation.

i think stealth bombers have little range as they are more hit and fade, and thus most of their system energy goes towards cruise missiles and cloak generators

Edited by: Malthros Zenobia on 26/01/2006 06:12:10 The f-117 is nothing like the stealth bomber. It's a short range stealth attack aircraft, the bomber is long range and can carry a much heavy arsenal, namely large nukes.
F-117: Fighter
B-2: Bomber

There were bombers before there were any nukes. Range does not play a role in its designation as a bomber. All that matters is that its primary purpose is to hit ground targets. The F-117 is incapable of engaging other aircraft, so it's a bomber. ---- "Well in this case, he's being flamed, and rightly so, for whinning about a game mechanic that doesn't actually exist." -Lorth |

the underlined part says it all, not to be rude, but when you write long range bomber you think warp distance. when i write long range bomber i think of a frigate taking out enemies @ 95km away (long range compared to 1-20k range of other frigates).
Also this has turned into an F117 B2 debate
If a stealth bomber does cloak (stealth) fire cruise missiles from a frigate (bomb-like size comparison) then you pretty much have the jist of its function and what you can reasonably expect it to do.
If it was called a stealth long warp range bomber than you beef would be valid.
I had the same problem with the cov-ops frigate at first as well, training up warping related skills helped a lil (never needed them beyond 3 or 4 at the time) ___________________________

Considering the types of enguagements your speaking of, training warp drive operations level 5 would be a very good idea regardless. It will assist you in most systems, the others there is just nothing you can do about it to be honest.

I think what has confused several people is that it, the F-117 has been used as a tactical bomber for the most part. It is a fighter just as the F-15E is, and the F-15E is a "tactical bomber" as well.

Thought it was "Caldari apples never fall far away from the tree."
Warp range for stealth bombers is on the menu.
