Edited by: booh on 14/01/2006 17:20:10 OK i missclicked the BPO and now i have 18d job in the line. Would be all ok if i could get the items out before the end... And now i can't even cancel the job.
Is there a way to cancel it?
It really makes me wonder what the so called "testing team" is good for. They never heard anything of "practical use", "playability", "production flow"... Wonder if they ever did anything else than undocking in EVE.
For example if i right click a BPO in a station that i'm docked in, and press manufacture, why do i have to select an assembly line... It's not like i could build stuff on a station 3j away with BPO on current station... It could just select next free or the one with shortest wait time by default (with the option of manual selection).

Nope there is no cancel button. IÆm sure itÆs only a matter of time before some pretentious idiot posts a reply telling you it's all your fault, but really this is a problem with the game. I really feel sorry for any poor folks who accidentally tie up one of their corporationÆs BPOs for months on end.
Then again, I'm sure in a matter of time this will be fixed, and at least you can take solace in the fact that your not the only player who has been affected by this.

Oh man, it's even worse than you thot...
Check this out, it's happend to me twice already:
You can select an empty "Now" slot, load up your job, and click "OK."
But surprise surprise !!!
Someone at the same time, ALSO takes your "Now" slot, and clicks "OK" before you do.
AND YOU CAN'T ABORT THE JOB ONCE YOU SEE IT'S FLAGGED AS PENDING !!!
Ahhhhhhhhhh !!!
(the mind boggles at the lack of this obvious needed option... WHAT were they SMOKING???)
I'm sure they just LOVE all the petitions they get from ppl like us victimized by this design flaw.
Why the heck doesn't a PENDING job just automatically drop into one of the EMPTY slots ???
Or just WARN us that someone has taken the slot, and have it ask to confirm we want the PENDING status, or to select another "Now" slot.
Or GIVE US AN ABORT OPTION !!!
Ack ack ack
Well... At least they will abort the job if you file a petition, thank Zeus !

HELLO DEVS !!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS INANE FLAW IN YOUR DESIGN !!!
THANK YOU.

I really don't like filing petitions... Since they have so much more important things to do. But i guess it's all their fault, and if nothing else helps.
Oh man, this is a perfect example of how devs do things. "Make a assembly line interface/logic... bla bla bla."
(time passes)
"OK. I'm done. What cancel button? Nobody said anything about a cancel button. Why would you need that anyway? It's not my fault if people screw up... tbh i can't eject stuff before end of the job, it's not optimal on server CPU! I don't really care about ease of use..."
OK sorry, i'm over reacting, but this one really got me off...

In reality they just overlooked it, like a lot of content promised in patches. Apart from this oversight is worse, because its content with a major problem with it.

It might be to stop people playing about, stacking up enitre lines for ages, but not even building anything, just doing it to **** people off

This is not a design flaw (at least that we know of). CCP is professional enough that a thing like this will have been debated and decided upon.

Decision ???
Read my post again, I MADE the DECISION to use the "Now" slot. It's their design flaw that allows someone to ALSO load the same slot.
Just think about it for 2 seconds, pilgrim.

I have no proof of this, but my suspicion is that the lack of cancel button was an active attempt by CCP to stop lab hoarding.
In the old system, you could keep a lab for your own use by keeping it rented and constantly researching BPOs. In the new system - if there was a cancel button - you could do the same thing by researching ME for ages on a BPO and then cancelling the research before loading another BPO into the slot when you needed to really use it. Okay, so you'd have to be quick to do it before the slot filled up again, but it would probably work a lot of the time. The lack of a cancel button means that you can't "reserve" lab time for your own use.
Having said all that, I really wish there was a cancel button.

You wouldn't really need a cancel button to stop the most annoying problem with the current system (an open lab slot suddenly sprouting a job that lasts three days when there are five other open slots). All you would need is a check that asked "Oh, this assembly line now has a longer queue than it did when you first selected to do a job at it. Continue?"

Or a 'use the lab which will free up first' button, which picks the lab when you click 'ok' rather than when you select the lab. ---

In some other thread I read something like the missing cancel option is a "feature"
So all we can say is: **** happens! if someone uses the same slot as you and Pay attention! if you typed the wrong number... Now what about the noobs? Take a noob wanting to build ammo, we know that you build 100 units per run but do they?
If ccp "added" this "feature" to prevent slot hoarding then, plz add on of those warning windows like when you buy or sell at over 50% of the market average or a clear listing on what one just did with time amount and everything... or at least give us the possibility to cancel a job during a certain amount of time. Oh nice idea: A manufactering agression timer

I just received a reply to my petition about this issue, CCP says it's a "known bug."
One hopes this means they'll implement a solution soonest eh ?
Cheers
