Well, could be girlfriends or boyfriends, people have been known to get married after meeting online. Or whatever it is, open to interpretation for the person answering. Its all anonymous so no need to be shy :D. At least one person answered yes anyways :) ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Really depends on what how you interpret "intimate".
I voted yes, because, I interpret "intimate" as a close, loving and incredibly tender relationship....not neccesarily physical, but all the same, I stand by my answer.

Yes, that is perfectly fine. I agree that counts as intimate too, and interesting to see. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |

Thanks for the replies so far everyone. While some results may seem predictable for some of us, I think many people still may be surprised when I do this little write up.. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |

Question #5 has one less vote then all of the others. Looks like somebody forgot it .
Nice poll. When you decide you have the final results could you post them so we could all see? - - - - - - - Disclaimer I take no responsibility for the spelling or grammar usage in the above statement Nor do i agree with its ideas and or claims Or even acknowledge its existance. |

Edited by: Delinia Salrso on 24/08/2003 01:53:13 Interesting results. I was especially impressed by the age demographics. One thing I found particularly interesting was the following question:
"16. Do you think CCP should take action against people who harass or create out of game problems due to in game activity?"
Most people answered yes. I'm just curious as to how people interpreted this question. What kinds of scenarios did people have in their minds that voted yes or no?
I voted "no" because when I answered I was thinking people who take matters out of the game took matters out of the realm of CCP so therefore CCP should not be held responsible.
I'm wondering if the people that voted "yes" were thinking more along the lines that CCP should ban the person or something upon discovering of the incident. Or did you think that CCP should have some sort of responsibility in the matter?
Just curious. I always wonder what's up when I go the opposite direction of so many others.

Nice poll.
And there are 2% Aussies. Aside from that, I think you could define Russia as part of Europe, so you have pretty much all timezones included. -------------------------------------- Sarela "Eurydike" Taris

Edited by: Luther Pendragon on 24/08/2003 08:13:53 Wow, great feedback everyone, thanks.
I think its interesting Zeidrich brought up the idea of being more difficult relating to people without seeing a human form. But what about MUDs? I think theres great personal human interaction there, and its all text based.
And yes Syphin, this poll is a little wierd in that they can finish the poll without answering all the questions together. Little frustrating, but I dont think it'll skew the over all results too much. And yeah, sure I can post it up.
Delinia, yes, I understand that people can interpret question different differently, and as a stastitician, you have to take that into account. You interpreted it as 'responsibility', but its not necessarily about that. It could be simply its certain morality of taking action against troublemakers? The trouble did start from their game they made after all. Maybe they should because it affects their own pocketbook, scaring off customers? Or, what if someone used physical violence? Like in these counter-strike episodes where they go and knife each other irl, or in Lineage where criminal elements are involved in the game play? But your answer certainly wasnt 'wrong', what you think the question is questioning is relevent to the results.
Eurydike, this is one surprise for me, I thought they'd be more people from more places. Maybe they just dont hang out at these boards. Australia does have a reasonable showing, I wonder if New Zealanders put themselves down as Asians. Was a little tough with geographic areas, I just stuck to the continents to make it easy. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Done, and kudos for the set of questions.:)
As far as i'm concerned i was feeling a bit alone too at the begining, without a true human avatar.
But later on, meeting good and funny people to speak with (Use team speak... it' s a god send:)) my playing experience changed dramatically.
Game speak systems can improve your gametime ten fold. (No, i don't work for any firm that produces game speak systems... besides Team Speak is free:))

I think two of the results are very interesting to see, first most of those who took the poll are 21-30 years old which clearly shows that fromthis small sampling it's safe to say EVE is not a game for the kiddies.
The other interesting thing is that noticably more players are from europe than the USA!
Now I wonder why that is, In most cases for a large enough game, this is oposite I think. I hate to say it but what do my fellow countrymen/women have against EVE? EVE even though full of minor hiccups is a pretty great game, is it possible US players just arn't into the SCI FI genre?
I know in the local game stores here where I live in the US, the owner is always flabbergasted at how many really good SCI FI titles just don't sell even though they get wonderful reviews. But just about all Fantasy RPG's and the like sell like hot cakes!
Very interesting indeed, I suppose a possible exception might be SWG, or That matrix game, but thats a big name product so it's understandable I suppose.
Oh well interesting poll.

Don't forget that not everyone reads these boards. Maybe our fellow US folks just don't like to read. Or maybe they can't.

Was that at me? I'm not insulting americans. I am an american myself. Just incase you didn't catch that it was just a silly joke/covert bump. I think it's that EVE is a more "European" game. Games that do well in Europe - 1503, The Settlers, Patrician, etc - are generally deeper, more complex, and slower-paced than those that do well in America. "Thinking man's" games sell far better in Europe.
This trend also explains the discrepency between the generally high marks EVE gets in Euro magazine reviews compared to the generally low marks it gets in American reviews. - - - -
I have measured and described the stars, their great and countless multitude. What man has seen their revolutions and entrances? Not even the angels see their number, yet I have recorded all their names.

We won't talk about how many cruisers I lost this weekend, nor how many nice railguns, or T2 enhancers. We're going to skip right over that. We're going to talk about my new Raven. It is like flying a small city, and the city's only export is missiles.

Good poll. Interesting to see the breakout of age groups and demographics.
As for the curiosity about Americans that tend to go RPG vs Sci-Fi I'd like to know which games you're referring to? Also, are these primarily single player or online-based games?
I notice FPS don't suffer too badly, and a good majority of those are Sci-Fi based. RPG's, until fairly recently, pretty much stuck to the D&D-style of gaming experience. To a greater extent they still do. I guess I've personally not seen a whole lot of RPG's that had a Sci-Fi base to their storyline.
