In the latest EON magazine there's a cool feature on Battleships. One of the more interesting things listed there is the number of Battleships of each type that are currently in service.
As a manufacturer, stats like this are really interesting and I would like to see more of them available (either in-game on on the website) - not just for battleships, but on all player-made items ingame. Manufacturers could see at a glance of whats needed and what items are surplus.
Anyway, for those that are interested, here's the stats for the number of Battleships currently in Eve (at the time of EON2 going to press I assume).
Raven: 14,130 Apocalyspse: 12,976 Megathron: 10,411 Dominix: 7,666 Scorpion: 7,537 Armageddon: 7,370 Tempest: 5,920 Typhoon: 2,393
Total: 68,403

I'd like to know how many Carriers are in game. Probably about 3 at the moment, but come Jan 22/23 I reckon 50 or more will be launched - and then the fun begins

I guess the Typhoon needs a buff then...
I must confess though, that I'm slightly surprised at the low number of Armageddons.

Raven and Apoc still the undisputed kings of the numbers game, and the Tempest is still the neglected orphan, poor Tempest.
Yep, nothing incredibly surprising there.
Would be cool (although much, much less relevant) to see the stats on T1 frigates. -------------------------------------[04:04:04] Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk

I think the reason the number of Ravens is so high is because most folks now use them to pick up loot cans while rat'ing in thier badgers...

I would wager that 1 to 2 thousand of those Apocs are macro ships. Macros love their apocs!

I would guess that the low numbers of temps and phoons was more due to the 1 year + nerf of projectile tracking than anything else.

Once Carriers are unleashed, expect the total number of Battleships to start dropping

What I'd really like now is the numbers on how many have been produced, just to compare the two numbers.

Yes, there does seem to be a smaller number of 'geddons and scorps up there, but there's a simple answer for this: the most popular carebear vehicles are the ones rounding out the top 4. The fact that three of the top four are also excellent PvP ships (raven, mega, domi - apoc is decent, but is superseded by the 'geddon in most instances) helps account for their high numbers.
Following the top four are two ships that are used primarily for PvP, so the fact that there are still a lot of them says very good things about their effectiveness.
As always, the tempest and typhoon come in last. Mostly this is because Minmatar are the least populous race in terms of pod pilots, but also a large portion of the player base doesn't like the aesthetics of Minmatar ships...
...of course, the above paragraph only truly applies to the tempest. The typhoon is the most sub-par battleship out there, with one completely useless bonus (projectile optimal range - and only half its highs are turrets!) and a second bonus that, while nice, doesn't even apply to the majority of its weapons (the damage bonus is trumped by the forced half-and-half slot layout).
Personally, I own a raven, a scorpion, and two tempests atm (one short range AC for PvP, and the second varies between long-range PvP and short range NPC). -Wrayeth

Thats pretty amusing actually, looking over our killboard stats you can see that the kill records somewhat mirror the popularity of the ship.

I'm with you on that one. It's also an excellent mission ship, and overall it's been made better with the latest drone changes. (That last bit being my own opinion, of course)

Everyone knows 1 Minmatar is worth at least 4 Amarr, 3 Caldari, and 2 Gallante.
We don't need a large populace... quality over quantity ftw!
