Hi,
I just bought an Enyo and need some tips on fitting it. It will be used for hunting 0.0 Gurista rats. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.
Thanks.

This is was i use, it tanks any 0.0 spawn i have encountered so far, even a Dread BS spawn today
3 x light ion blaster 2 1 x light neutron blaster 2 1 x small knave nosferatu ------------------------------ 1 x 1mn AB T2 1 x x5 webber ------------------------------ 1 x small armor rep T2 1 x damage mod 1 x MAPC 1 x cpr
The BS spawns are the easiest as the cruises / torps only hit for about 8 damage, in fact my shields recharge faster than the BS can damage me. If you want to be cautious you could try fitting a kin hardener but tbh the T2 rep is more than enough.

Thanks very much for setup. I just have a few questions:
1. How long does it take you to kill a battleship? 3. Is the Enyo a suitable alternative to a Battleship if I train the skills very high.

for guristas rats you don't really need any additional protection. Breaking the tanks of the tougher battleships will be more a concern than getting killed, though Dire rats and destroyers can be a concern sometimes.
1. - anything from 2 to 10 minutes, depending on the battleship.
2 - not really. You can tank as easily, but the damage output is far less. Bottom line is that an Enyo will be far safer, but extremely inefficient compared to a battleship. -------------------------------------------------- Loyalty, Integrity, Honour. |

It does take quite a while to kill the battleships. Perhaps a couple of minutes for the 500k ones and an age for the 1.1mils
Normally i have a friend in a gank setup cruiser / BC with me. I take the aggro so he can help kill them unhindered. The only way you could do more damage is to try and fit a full rack of neutrons and have a rocket launcher instead of the nos. Might tinker around with that tomorrow but i imagine it'll be very hard to fit and the nos is nice for tanking.
If you are talking about ratting i'd say a BS is better, i just can't be bothered to wait 5-10 mins to kill one rat. I've just bought a dominix so i'll be fitting that up soon and giving it a whirl.
Hope that helps.

Edited by: Cadiz on 07/01/2006 04:54:09 My current Enyo 0.0 belt-ratting setup:
4x light ion blaster IIs, 1x rocket launcher of choice 1x 1mn AB II, 1x web of choice 1x small repper II, 2x mag stab IIs, 1x cap power relay
Honestly, with some smart piloting, you can dodge the vast, vast majority of incoming fire that isn't frigate-based. Kill the smallest ships first and work your way up, and it should all be very easy. That all fits with Electronics 5, Engineering 5, and Weapons Upgrades 4.
In case you are wondering, the reason why I go for the 2x mag stabs is because damage, not ability to tank, is what holds back ratting AFs in 0.0. At times you'll have a hard time cranking out the damage to break the tanks of big battleship rats in a timely fashion. You can do a neutron setup too; just swap out one of the mag stabs for a MAPC. I'm fairly sure that my ion setup has better DPS, but the neutron setup has better per-round efficiency, and that is a reasonable concern when you're 0.0 ratting.
That setup above can kill a pair of 1.25mil battleships (Sansha ones, which are resistant to kinetic dmg) in about 7 - 10 minutes, and my gunnery skills are average at best. As Guristas are vulnerable to kin/therm and your t2 resists are strongest versus their natural damage types, you should have a pretty easy time of it.

Yea, you can do it, but why? 1 minute bs vs 10 minute bs. I'll take the raven/ishtar/etc. Even the cerberus kills a 1 mil bs in a couple minutes. -------------------------------------------- "A plan is just a list of things that don't happen." -- Parker, _The Way of the Gun_

This will have to be my primary ratting boat as I will be training straight for hac after this. I tried bs for a little while and didn't find them much fun mainly because they are so slow. Plus my skills suck for large modules so wasn't very effective either :(.

I use:
High: 4x light ion blasters II 1x Named Rocket
Med: 1mn MWD 1x 86% webber
Low: 1x small repper tII 2x passive hardeners, in thermal and kinetic, cpr
Tanks anything and does pretty decent damage.

If there's a chance you may run into player interceptors, make sure to take iron ammunition with you. With good skills you should be able to hit an inty that's using rails from 7.5 km away with iron ammo and do decent damage, and an inty shooting from further out shouldn't be able to break your tank.

If you're using blasters, then you should be loading antimatter. No ifs, ands, or buts. The only times you should be making exceptions to that iron-clad rule are (A) if you have access to the new t2 null ammo, which is great multipurpose stuff - although too expensive for ratting tbh - and (B) the anti-inty reason mentioned above.

i am thinking of getting in an enyo sometime soon, and punching some buttones in quickfit.
this any good for 0.0 solo against gurristas:
HIGH-SLOTS : ~~~~~~~~~~~~ > [ 12 | 17] Light Neutron Blaster II [80xAntimatter Charge S] > [ 12 | 17] Light Neutron Blaster II [80xAntimatter Charge S] > [ 12 | 17] Light Neutron Blaster II [80xAntimatter Charge S] > [ 12 | 17] Light Neutron Blaster II [80xAntimatter Charge S] > [ 0 | 0] Launcher Slot
empty slot... such a waste... ah well lol
MED-SLOTS : ~~~~~~~~~~~ > [ 10 | 15] Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters > [ 10 | 37] Small Capacitor Battery II
Cap battery is to drastically help the cap recharge rate
LOW-SLOTS : ~~~~~~~~~~~ > [ 0 | 2] Beta Reactor Control: Capacitor Power Relay I > [ 6 | 6] Small Armor Repairer II > [ 0 | 15] Micro Auxiliary Power Core I > [ 1 | 30] Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Armour repper and AB run permanently with this setup and my skills, and that will get me close enought to anything to turn off the AB and turn on the guns, whish i cant run indefinately alongside the repper, but i figure i wont need to.

if u have half decent skills the only things you will need cap for is the 1mn ab and ur guns, all frigs should b insta pop before they get to you and anything higher then a destroyer wont hit you.so change the cap baterry for a web or a target painter for even better insta pops and frigs and player inty's, then put 3 nano I's in low :D
edit: or put magstabs in lows, even better for killing faster _______________________________________________

i run alot of the same setup, i run with T2 rockets though, and i dont use the cap relay, i work with a nano adaptive plate II to boost my thermal, kinetic, and EM resistance up over 75% with the EM and over 90% with the thermal and kinetic. that way i only take about 15 damage from serpentis BS guns. im not too sure that my numbers are correct but the damage read-out is about right.
i do advise that you train T2 rockets, its totally worth it in the short range that we are running with blaster boats

Thanks very much for setup. I just have a few questions:
1. How long does it take you to kill a battleship? 3. Is the Enyo a suitable alternative to a Battleship if I train the skills very high.
1. Too long, it isn't the most efficient bs killer ever. 2(3?). No. I used to hunt in 0.0 in gallente AFs and they don't cut the mustard. You want to get yourself a BS. It makes money so much faster. ----

It will take a long time to kill NPC battleships with any assault frigate. And unless you are in an Ishkur, you will go through a crapload of ammo. Thus, the limitation of an assault frig vs a battleship for ratting is you must operate closer to lines of supply, and also wont kill as many rats per hour as a battleship would.
You are also much faster traveling to and from ratting locations, and much less likely to get caught at a gate camp enroute, so its a tradeoff.

As the Enyo gets a tracking bonus, i think rails are the thing.
High: 4x Proto 150mm rail (Plutonium ammo gives 14km optimal) 1x 'makluth' rocet launcher w/ defenders
Med: AB II Faint Warp prohibitor (20 km)
Low: SAR II CPR F85 damage control Mag Stab II
Fits with adv weapon upgrades 3 and about 1 cpu and grid left.
The scrambler is there in case someone attacks me while ratting. Tactics are simple, keep AB running, orbit at 13km and fire away. the defender missiles are there to have some missile protection. Using a small tracking disruptor drone, could help also. At all cost stay out of the 10km-radius-of-nos/web-death.
