Ok i was messing about with the quick-fit program, checking out how a decent armor tank would do on my brutix (which is currently a sniper-mild shield tank) and what i found was that even with the large bonus to armor reps it still worked out to be worse than my current setup.
atm i have 6x 250mm proto rails (+ small neut, which im thinking of replacing with SB or NOS, or even a 7th proto thanks to RMR ) SB2, AB2, eutitic cap recharger (sp?) and a shield hardner 4x PDU2 and a good nano (brutix is a slug...)
Now with drone included the quick-fit proggy says thats ~200dps (effective 10km-30km), the best setup i came up with for armor tank was the same dps but had to be blasters due to grid problems (effective....point blank :\ ) And the kicker was that the shield tank was stronger than the armor (including natural shield regen), both around 40dps with 1 T2 rep/SB, and trivial cap use differences. Adding another armor rep would effectively kill the capacitor regen .
Feel free to tell me im retarded and dont know how to set up an armor tank

Edited by: Johnny Wiseacre on 02/01/2006 03:19:01 Well I quite enjoyed passive tanking (tech2) all low slots plus medium armour rep - VS-8 AB (or mwd cant remember), decent webber + 2x cap rech 2's and 7 dual 150 proto rails w/antimatter. Awesome friggy shredder and can take a beating too. Even managed to do level 3 guristas depot mission in it (with 2 warpouts ).
Depends what you are trying to do. By definition if you are sniping, why bother tanking ? Just fit a repairer and go long.

A lot of the versions only give a 5% amour repair bonusÆs but since RMR that bonus has been changed to 7.5% per level. If you have a high BC skill level amour tanking works best,

Shield tanking on a Brutix will not be as effective as armour tanking.
The new grid bonus makes fitting of larger guns easier, but the best improvement has comefrom the increase to the repair bonus up to 7.5% from 5% pre - RMR.
I've used a dual med repper II setup, with 2 active hardners and an 800 steel plate II and 7 x dual 150s and i still had plenty of grid and cpu left. I even have a med cap booster II and AB II in that setup
It's all academic in the end and you should fit what works for you.
Enjoy
