So, I'm relatively new to pvp. I shot and blew up some guy the other day, my first solo ever and the guy just lost it all over local. He was moaning about "NRDS" and that I was "going to get mine", etc. Being a newb to PvP, I had to Google what NRDS was... And then apologized to the guy.
I later found out that NRDS usually only applies to Providence because it's CVA's policy and a CVA controlled area. I was probably 20 jumps away from any CVA system / Providence. This guy wasn't in CVA either... and apparently everywhere else in 0.0 is NBSI.
Needless to say I'm confused.
Are there more NRDS systems? How does a pilot know if he's in a NRDS system when he's outside of Providence? If like to obey the NRDS policy as I'm not an "outlaw" but I also want to PvP... keep flying and stay shiny!!! |

Congrats on getting your first solo kill.
Not that being red to CVA matters but are you sure you weren't in their space? The most recent kills and losses on your killboard were nearby (I think they also consider southern Derelik to being to them for some odd reason). |

Funnily enough, there's no kill present on any boards anywhere where you wouldn't have between 6-30 people in the fleet when you killed someone, so it's quite surprising you're talking about a "solo kill" :)
You can read more about NRDS on CVA's page and most people living in the greater Providence area use NRDS everywhere.
But just so you know. Affiliating yourself with corporations/pilots already KOS to Providence, makes you red too. ;) Just thought I'd point it out before you find yourself blown up in Providence and calling out how CVA doesn't respect their own NRDS rules.

Funny how people automatically think that I've provided my API to any online killboard... I haven't. The only kills that are on Battleclinic are of people with whom have provided API. If you and your counterparty both don't have an active API set up with Battleclinic (or any other board), then nothing gets posted. I guess some people don't understand this very simple idea.
As for where I was - I was in the Great-Wild Lands, which is pretty far away from Providence. As it turns out, Providence is widely known to be CVA and NRDS. I respect that. But this kill did not occur there.
The guy I blew up offered me a place in his corp afterwards... I'm still thinking about it, but I don't want a revenge kill. ;p keep flying and stay shiny!!! |

From what I can tell, "no", everyone is grey unless they are added to the KOS list (as per CVA's website). "Grey" means that they'll leave you alone.
The problem is that the list is half a decade old (maybe longer) and, consequently, individual pilots, corps and/or alliances can be on there from legacy issues that occurred years ago. Unless you do something explicitly against CVA's policies, then you're not on their ****-list.
Come to think about it - if you're in 0.0, then you should be thinking that any pilot is coming for you - so it doesn't really matter any way. The whole NRDS is just a way for CVA to exploit 0.0 resources while creating a certain level of security by banding together. I'm not sure what this level of security is... as I'm a noob and I'm just going off of what is written in the forums. (Older player - correct me if I'm wrong) keep flying and stay shiny!!! |

Hi, This isn't exactly accurate. Players who place their API into a killboard get their kills posted to the boards. The opposing parties don't have to have their API in a board. Boards also allow Corp CEOs and directors to post kills by their corpies. Finally, killmails can be manually posted, without the use of an API.
This doesn't mean killboards are 100% accurate - no killboard is - so it's possible a KM won't show on any 'public' board.

Garven Dreis wrote:Sylphy wrote:So, everyone is KOS in Provi then?
Nope. Not everyone, just those that have known affiliations with those who are red already OR they have agressed the residents and became red that way.
The guy below you that says there's a ton of outdated stuff, yeah.. quite possible that an organization with a history that CVA/Provi has, could be a lot of outdated stuff. But that's why diplomatic channels are there for. Resolving issues. Personally, I've seen players who were red turn out to be neutral after it was established by diplomats that the rules of engagement under which the corporation/alliance was KOSed are no longer valid.
That's why the CVA kos tool is public. Anyone wishing to fly in our space can before hand at any time check on what standings they are.
Quote:PS What was in the CSAA?
Even if I said what was or wasn't in there, I would be blatantly accused of lying, misinformation or simply not being in the "know" by alliance leadership (yeah, I'm talking from experience.
So I'll let you and anyone elses friends, fly partners, spy networks to continue with the curiosity drive to find out what may or may not have been cooking.

So...you got a 'solo kill' and didn't post it?
You have to understand this makes zero sense...posting about something without any reference.
Of course people are going to search you on killboards to try and find what you are talking about. Why would you expect anything else?
At any rate, keep up the pvp, it's good to see new players who actually 'get' the game rather than seeing it as another wow theme park. You should probably post your solo kill though, because if you don't, well it doesn't exist.
So the assumption is you are lying and/or misinformed on the nature of a 'solo kill'.
Corrected easily enough...
