Same.
I tried crusader kings 2 as my friend was bugging me about it.
The game just didnt hook me and seemed to take an age to figure out. If they had total war style battles now.... id be all for it. "I think you should buy a new Mayan calendar. Mine has muscle cars on it." --áKenneth O'Hara

How has this game shaped up over the years?
I played Europa Universalis in it's early days, but it was one of those games that I could see the portential in, and which I really wanted to like, but could never warm too.
Being a lover of historical stratagy games I would consider giving it another look at if it has lost some of it's 'dryness' |

Have you ever tried the Europa Barbarorum Mod for Total war: Rome? That one was miles better than the inaccurate, almost fantasy-like vanilla version. Even better than Medieval 2, imo.

I-¦m with you. I even tried Hearts of Iron, but still.
Anyway, I am currently playing with the thought of giving Victoria II a chance... Forum-unbanned since 2011.10.20.

Anybody know of an good mods for Total War Shogun 2? I'm kind of disappointed in the vanilla version. It's a little hoaky/ fantasy like. Bomb thrower bushi units? |

I am in the Dark Ages, I am now rediscovering Baldur-¦s Gate I and II with TOB using the BGTrilogy mod and soloing a Fighter/Mage ...
I stopped buying traditional games a long while ago, only Indy ones do it for me now.
Though EU seems to look interesting ... Inner Sayings of BrujoLoco: http://eve-files.com/sig/brujoloco |

The Total War-games vs the ones released by Paradox are two different beasts. While the TW-games have epic battles I just find them to be extremely lackluster when it comes to the "map-mode". Europa Universalis and the others just blows TW away when it comes to it.

Well I never played the first EU, but started with the series with EU2. EU IV is IMHO a huge improvement over the earlier ones. It's easier to learn and just more fun.
