Dear all,
What are the options for logistics for low sec / null sec exploration? With this I mean getting your ship(s) in/out. Getting ammo. Moving out loot.
1) Making lots of trips with cloaky-nullified T3 and refitting it at place. 2) Move non T3 ships in trough WH's. 3) Move non T3 ships in the regular way (scout + BS) 4) ...
I am planning to go do some null sec exploration (with 1 alt), but I just have no clue how to begin, or how to start with the logistics if only getting the ships there.. |

Wormholes are good option for moving both ways, but depending on the region you aim at, flying in there in the normal way might be much easier. Especially for lowsec, there's 20 non-camped gates to every camped one.
Explore for a while in one area, keep your loot in a cloaky hauler, when you are ready to take it to the markets, start scanning for wormhole routes. Note that you don't need a direct connection, C2s are great for travelling around New Eden, and many C1s and C2s have hisec statics that may land you next to a major hub.
One option is to find a wh with null/low static, set up base in there and enjoy a new region every day. Empty holes with nullsec statics are easy to find. Comes with the additional bonus of being able to run local sleeper sites if you don't feel like putting in much effort to probing some day.

You have one alt? Super! My alt is in an T3 with Covert Cloakt and nullifier. If I got shiny loot, I drop it in a can and the alt takes it with him.
Why do you want so many ships there? Just fly with one ship + your alt in a T3 as scout. German blog about smallscale lowsec pvp: http://friendsofharassment.wordpress.com |

In low-sec i find the easiest is just to have a hi-sec base, where you can store ships, ammo, etc. This means you can use red frog to transport which and items from and to the major trade hubs, and you have a safe place to keep you respawn clone.
NPC null sec has stations where you can store ships and items, and you can get them transported with black frog. Outside NPC null you are going to have a hard time, there are not likely to be many stations you can access. I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous. |

Well I'm not sure if 1 ship works fast enough DPS / time wise. |

It sounds like you want to do combat sites rather than hacking/relic sites, which is what most people think when they hear exploration. Hacking/relic have no NPCs in them. You can get all your goodies into your target system/station with Black Frog. Then get your character there with a cloaky ship. NPC nosec is pretty busy though. Something to keep in mind. Bokononist

I solo low sec combats all the damn time. Unlike dexington, I prefer to have a low sec base of operations with a couple million of each ammo type I need plus a variety of replacements/other ships. I get all that in/out with a blockade runner and get loot out the same way. Since I largely stick to the same 3-4 regions, I also have some regular ammo caches scattered throughout low stations along with a ship or two just in case.
If you don't have access to a blockade runner, you could use any cloaky ship to run the high sec camps -- or you could just scout it out and wait for an opportune time to slip an industrial through. |
