Usually I've just been solomining with a Mackinaw, but lately a couple of friends picked up interest in the game and started mining with me.
So I broke out a Hulk as well as an alt in an Orca to do mining ops with my friends.
Standard mining ops I guess, one orca for boost+hauling and rest drop ore into cans.
But, at the end of the day when all the ore is being refined into minerals, how do people calculate an even distribution of the ore ?
My miner has refining, refinery effiency and relevant ore processing skills all maxed out, and 3.8 standing with the station. So I use my miner for the actual refining (since my friends are still newbies in ventures and retrievers).
My question is really... has anyone looked at a reasonable way to calculate the distribution of the minerals based on each miners effort (i.e. their ship type and/or mining laser amounts) ?
I did google for it, but all I could seem to find was a somewhat complex google-docs setup which included things like clocking in and out and whatnot. We don't really need it that detailed (being friends and all), but a rough way to calculate a fair distribution would be nice.
If anyone worked out a somewhat simplistic way of making a fair distribution it would be greatly appreciated if you wanted to share the info.
Otherwise I guess I'll work out some form of ratio-system to split the minerals out.

Simplest: total isk divided by number of people.
Simple: total isk, divided by number of man hours, payout man hours.
Still simple, but not as much: assign each ship type a multiplier. Do division of man hours with the ship multiplier ratios.
Another: have the miners name their cans and ore type, the hauler records how many cans each person made. Payout per can/ore.
Those "complex" spreadsheets you found most likely do either the 2nd or 3rd things I mentioned. |

i use http://sisterofeve.ru/loot_history/, this way everyone gets what he mines, no need to split.
but if you have multiple fleets, or the loot history is not reliable, or you are a filthy communist (?), you can determine output after mining is over, its not hard. simple pool all the ore/minerals/compressed ore/etc. if you are mining ore all cycles are the same length, so simply add up the m3 shown on the info window of the module, add up the modules, add up all the ships. now, the total sum of all miners is 100%, the % of that total provided by each miner is his share.
this assumes 100% up-time, but after a long mining op you'll see that everyone slacks in average the same... so it evens out. :p
if you have haulers, boosters, rat tankers or w/e you can separate a share before splitting between all the miners, since all the miners benefit from having a dedicated hauler or a booster all miners will pay equally this way. |

I would calculate each ships m3 per cycle. Add up all the m3 per cycle, So for instance say you have 10 ships add each m3 per cycle of each ship. Get a percentage each ship gets. Divide that out of the payout. This method however only works if you all mine the same length of time and also doesn't include compensation for haulers and boosters. Again as you said though you are all friends so loose math is probably sufficient. |

Hi Jelizza Arlath I have build a tool to calculate this for you. It calculate the splitting of minerals depending on how long a player have been mining or hauling, and also depending on which ship he used. So a player in a hulk will get a higher payout than a retriever pilot, if they mined the same amount of time.
