OMG!
GO SEE THAT MOVIE AT INCE!!!1111oneoneeleven
Wipes the floor with anything I've seen in the past ... erm ... well ... long time, and I'd even go as far as saying that it wipes the floor with LotR.

Oh, and do yourselves the favor or relishing in this orgasm-gone-movie on the biggest screen you can get (read: biggest cinema screen!) with the best sound available ... and if you have to pay a few bucks more, DO IT!!

If it's that good I may have to pay a visit to London's Marble Arch Odeon..I think their Screen 1 is still Europe's biggest, though it may have been superceeded since. It looks great, and I think Peter Jackson is an awesome director. The viceo diaries also look cool. It previews here in the UK tomorrow, but I have a friend visiting from abroad from Friday and promised to take her -------------

Previewed here last night at 00:01 and I'm glad I went to see it. So were the other 50 or so people who showed up, everyone left grinning as if on some heavy drug and the only things you heard were "god, what a great movie", "can you believe that", "unbelievable", "awesome" etc etc. ____________________

I still think Jack Black is a very weird choice for that movie. I love JB, but i just cant picture him doing something 'serious'... :/

Hmmm, I prefer movies whose ending I do not already know because they have been done 20 times in the past. But I'm sure it is a great remake.

Ya, um, that was the best movie of the year, just saw it. Better than both the original King Kong and the remake from the 70's. Awesome action, some good drama, general kickassness!

I was planning on seeing it soon no matter what. I do have to agree that even without seeing it that the casting of Jack Black just seems a bit out of place, oh well I just want my Kong fix.

I thought it was a good movie. Far too long though, and too many close ups of people stressing over a giant CGI ape.
The dinosaurs and insects were the best bits. As was playing "spot the NZ TV actor".

I know I might sound crazy amongst all the euphoria about this movie, but I really thought it was about average.
The CGI is out-of-this-world, but everything else was rather boring. I felt any dialog between the CGI sequences was utter crap and the movie would have been better off without
I also found it way too long.

I almost watched this show just now but decided not to because I have a phobia for oversized monkeys.
Anyway, is it really any good watching even though I will have monkey nightmares later? ----------------

Edited by: fairimear on 21/12/2005 02:11:41 great movie well they are on the island. boring movie well they are getting their. rather weird lack of explination of how they got a 30 ft ape from a island to a ship probably 3/4 of a mile out to sea.
But tbh WHO in their right mind when they have a island with T-rex, Ginat rather discusting bugs adn a phat arogant and rather dimp ape would choose the ape over the man eating lizard?
if it was me i might go to a zoo to see a large monkey, but i would cue all night to see a trex.
however this as given me hope for a badass halo movie with PJ now confirmed as the producer.

If you've seen the original movie, this one is not that exciting. But it is a good movie in its own right. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen the orginal, or anyone who absolutely loved the original

3 hours and seven minutes.
I will repeat that, because it deserves being read twice.
3 hours and seven minutes.
Boat goes to island. Crew finds a monkey Crew breings monkey to New York. Monkey dies.
That's the main four plot points.
3 hours and seven minutes.
I stopped caring.

And you POINT IS?? Or do you not have one? I had no idea how long the film was to start with so when It finished I guessed it had been about 90 mins. I was shocked to find out it had been over 3 hours.

It's a movie about a giant ape so yeah the dialog is gonna sound cheesy. Just a good long popcorn movie to see.

Easy now, you whipper snapper, don't get silly on us now.
King Kong, poor Peter Jackson, always getting let down by his actors, if it wasn't "They're taking the hobbits to Isengaurd" it was Jack Black murdering any places in the movie where it didn't require him being a 'funny-guy' which he did do very well.
True, the introduction sequence of New York and them travelling to the island was overlong, but you can also understand why it was necessary in terms of character development blah blah blah.
But the 'Is she going to take the part?' or 'Are they going to find the island?' questions were really a waste of time, we already knew the answers either from the adverts of older versions.
So, you waiting for the namesake of the movie to appear, and that he does a bloody 70 minutes into the movie, from here on in though I lost track of time as Jackson really got into his stide and did one thing he can really do withought outside action ruining it for him, CGI action.
In brief : Boring but necessary first part, bloowdy awesome second that mkaes this a must watch movie.

Why was casting Jack Black odd? Do you even recall what biomass filled his shoes in the other movies, were they crucial to the plot? No, you just want to go bananas with the ape and it sounds like you get just that fix.
It's not like a role in a movie about a beefed up monkey is serious in any sense of the word.
Remind me about The Maze.
I'm Danton Marcellus and I approve of this message. |

lol I actually did care, which I guess is me buying into the schmaltz but I figure anything that gets an emotional response is worth watching. I wasn't particularly moved by the main female character though...the teary eyes and swooning were too constant...and I dont think she did enough to stop it. Like the last bit in the island where it was slow motion and she was gawping, you could see the cogs slowly turning in her head and I'm thinking DO SOMETHING YOU SILLY COW! I was a tight ball of rage through most of it By the end I was hoping he'd kill everyone...I was pretty much chanting bite their heads off...I was pretty angry at the kid who sat in front of me also...his stupid tuft of spikey hair kept drifting in front of the screen whenever he sat up so I kicked him __________________________ Indulge Me |
