I think there are skill too many dependancies on empire for my liking and think a few changes could help.
1) Skills. You have to go to empire to buy skills. I think it's time for CCP to allow characters that have a skill to level 5 be able to "make books" about that skill. I think a new part of the learning tree would be a good idea with 2 skills "Teacher" and "Professor" (needs "Teacher" 5).
These 2 skills define up to what "rank" of skill you can produce, Teacher 1 = Rank 1 skills, Professor 3 = Rank 8 (8+3) skills.
Maybe even something that adds number of skills that you can produce in parallel.
2) Scan Probes. It's a real pain being forced to go to empire just to get "ammo" from CONCORD or DED. Please release the BPs.
Another thing that comes to mind are POS reactions but I don't know enough about them or if they are in demand in 0.0. ---------

Skillbooks are small. If you're worried about the availability of skills in 0.0, load up your favorite blockade runner and haul some out there. If you don't want to do it yourself, hire someone else to do it for you. Or offer a trading contract to a neutral corp to sell them on the open market. Or pod yourself back to empire, buy it, and pod yourself back.
If you want to make your own empire out in the middle of nowhere, deal with the fact that you have logistical issues because of it.

I know what I have to do atm to get skills Veskrashen, what do you think I've been doing since release
Logistics are things like mechanical parts or robotics for POS fuel, I just think that a level 5 "expert" in some skill should be able to produce books for resale, consider it a ROI for the skill purchase and time invested in training it to level 5. ---------

I like the idea of being able to "make" skillbooks for all the lvl 5 skills you possess, however, I dont know how the market would be affected by this. Maybe if the NPC's stopped making some skills. But then skills could be hard to come by... hmm... Maybe its just fine as it is. :P

Idea: If an alliance builds up a decent enough economy in their territory, the Sisters of EVE build an academy station with skill books.
Of course that means an alliance would have to build up a decent economy.
Which might mean not ganking industrialists.

One person's annoying pain in the ass is another person's investment opportunity. Like the guy above said; there's already enough ways around this problem.

In 1-2 weeks this problem will be solved, you use jump clone tobuy skill, and jump back, takes no time at all.

As I read it, it would take you 24 hours.

If the NPC corps at both locations have +8 standings towards you and your corporation then thats an option, not a very realistic one though. ---------

Curious as to a barebones 0.0 market what do people actually need, what would they go out of their way to buy?

Allowing players to teach other players skills would remove one of the bigger ISK sinks in the game

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there yet to be activated skills for both producing skills and implants?
Unleash that and some very advanced producers would have a niche in 0.0.
Remind me about The Maze.

Just another reason to limit Rebirth to Player-Owned entities like outposts and motherships. ---

Edited by: Imhotep Khem on 08/12/2005 02:05:08 the economy should take care of it.
Also with the clone jumping coming in RMR, one should probably be able to jump to his original systems easily unless he joined a foreign corp. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |
