Its time to stand up to CCP and their failure of Dust514. Its time CCP realizes they are devoting too much time and resources on a failed endeavor that will cause them nothing but grief and flameage in the future.
I propose a boycott of this so called FPS. A boycott hopefully will open CCP's eyes and mabye they will either fix this horrible game or abandon it (Personally hoping for the later.). All you have to do is not play Dust and constantly troll Dust players in local (This is actually fun sometimes).
Post for the Boycott.
Trolls and flamers welcome.

I propose that you are a moron. i have been playing EVE for 10 years and Dust for nearly 6 months. In my opinion there are striking similarities between dust now and EVE within it's first year after launch. As i did with EVE i will revel in this amazing and innovative game it is for now and in the years to come i look forward to being a part of a groundbreaking community as i did with EVE. simply because you are too narrow minded and short sighted to see the amazing thing happening right before your eyes does not mean everyone is as as dense as you. |

The overwhelming support for dust is so clear in this post. I honestly thought I would recieve alot more flame posts then this. Just proves only a small selection of forum readers really like dust and will stand by it while it dies a horrible death. No posts agreeing because they dont want to be seen to go against the grain of the almighty CCP. Call a spade a spade, Dust is a horrible game with a great idea poorly implemented. No matter how dire Dust gets or how many dollars it sinks CCP are obliged to fulfill their contract to Sony. Even if zero players played dust, the game would still be avalible for the next 3 years.

Dust doesnt need to be boycotted becouse it sucks. You boycott things that does have impact on somethink. Thats the whole purpose.
The player numbers were dropping for weeks now and soon dust will reach early beta numbers. Just let ccp do their job to get it to early grave. They had option to save the game and to listen to community they choose to ignore that option. Maybe dust will be good game in 10 years however that doesnt matter becouse people are interested in games they can play now. In ten years will be whole different world out there. Most of people who play eve now will have kids or be grandparents so dust quality in 10 years is meaningless. |

This so called FPS? What is good FPS in your oppinion? Call fo Duty series? Battlefield? Medal of Honor or that once popular Unreal Tournament series? Any of those games is complete garbage if you end up with crappy team and in BF3 terms, a lvl 100 shitbucket colonel on the enemy side can ruin anything in a jiffy.
An example of this are fancy Battlefield 4 trailers where infantry supports tanks and helicopters give air support and what not. While this all works wonders in the trailers, I have NEVER seen such teamplay in Battlefield 3 since it launched, while it has the same machanics as Battlefield 4. I have had some good teamwork in infantry battles but they are few and far in between. So in that regard, if you consider good FPS to be something like Battlefield, you are in a world of hurt. Atleast Dust is free to play while BF costs loads of cash up front and they make a new game every year lately.
What makes FPS good for me is teamplay. If you have a good team with tactical awareness you can work wonders. THAT is something that Dust can offer if you can manage to slip into a good Dust corp. Because like in EvE you can't do **** in a crappy corp. Another thing is that if equipment and vehicles actually cost something then people actually try to use them well. If you are handed vehicles with respawns then no one would bother to use them well since you can get new one soon anyway.
So, calling for a boycot on a game that YOU think sucks and does not fit your parameters of a good game is just stupid. That game is free to play and free to leave so why do you act out like that? Got dissapointed by the game because you thought it looked awesome on the trailers? Try not to overthink buddy.
Looking back at EvE there is so much hate and controversy towards that game, mainly because it is boring and complicated for majority of several billion people on this planet. You can't please them all. And this constant whining has to stop, if people don't like something someone has made, stop using it and do something productive with your life. Easy as that.
Another thing is that Dust has just only came out and it will take time to make it better for wider audience. Since it is free to play, I can't see any reason to scream about "game being broken" if you don't spend a dime on a game. Enjoy it and see it develop through the years so long as it's free. |

Well, calling a game where aiming is a chore and hit detection doesn't work half the time a First Person Shooter is rather ridiculous, and that even movement is problematic due to terrible collision detection only makes it worse. Especially considering the fact that nearly every single FPS in the last 15 years -even the crappy ones- managed to do at least this stuff acceptable.
Can't aim, can't hit, can't move... currently you aren't playing super-soldiers because apparently these clones were mistakenly made from Stephen Hawking, minus the intelligence.
If at least these issues were resolved you could call it a very generic and boring FPS... until then it is complete garbage. "You either need less science fiction or more medication."

Boycotting a freshly launced game just seems silly nowadays. Not getting into the "beta as launch" debacle, alot of games have a 'growing pains' phase when they first come out and are getting the flood of players who are spotting bugs and issues.
Just look at GW2, and all the bugs/issues it had at launch ( like gems for sale without the in-game store to use them in) and all the Players it kept growing. The game woul dnever have been as succesful if players boycotted.
I for one, am still waiting to see how the "One Universe" side affects both games. There is a lot of potential there, and at the moment I barly see a Dustbunnie in local chats. |

By the way, just to make sure my criticism isn't understood as a "make dust die" comment:
I can see it has good potential, if they got the basic gameplay fixed, if they deliver all the suits, vehicles and weapons that are supposed to be in, if they are fixing the current maps (invisible walls, getting stuck on every pebble) and introduce new maps that are really different and don't look all like different versions of the same map, if they get the balancing issues sorted out at least to a reasonable level (it doesn't even need to be perfect), if they deliver more and different multiplayer modes, if they raise the limit of players significantly and if they get the performance issues under control...
then they can be competetive against other FPS and the things that set Dust apart from the other games can make a difference.
Right now it is terrible, but in a year or two it might be cool... though at this point it will be probably on the PS4. And i wouldn't be surprised if they actually need the hardware of the PS4 to make Dust the experience that brings out the full potential. "You either need less science fiction or more medication."

There is no need to boycott any game really, as the merits of the game will be its outcome. If it's good, it's worth playing.
I bought a PS3 the other day just to try DUST out and played about 30 minutes and got bored. My son now uses the PS3 to play Little Big Planet... so it's all good.
I wish CCP all the best with their projects though, it takes a lot of work to try what they are trying to do. Right now it's just a baby, but give them a little room to mess up....
I think if I could play DUST as my EVE character, it would be a winner for me..... as is, it's just another FPS that has a very remote connection to EVE as we know it.
Perhaps you should post on what you would like DUST to be, and give a little support. |

CCP have already imposed the boycott involuntarily on many players.
HOW? I logged in after a patch the other day and I have a notification on my fitting tab - All my fits worked last time I played so I went straight in to fitting to check.
THANKS SPAZOS - I can't use my good shield recharger anymore. Was a lev 4 req - now it's lev 5 req. I also suspect that when I can use it again (almost 1/2 mil extra sp needed now and I could use it before) it won't fit the suit anymore due to pg/cpu.
So they have basically said - stop playing dust for a few weeks until you can MAYBE use the stuff you used a week or so ago if it still fits. (+ there might be another patch wasting even more of your sp/time during those weeks)
I tried to get into Dust a few times but there is no point putting any time into dust if they are going to undo player progress by rendering previously used fits and equipment unusable in patches.
Sorry CCP but Dust is being deleted to make room for Planetside2. I hear it is similar but you can always keep using the gear you previously have used - unlike dust.

That's cool I guess, but Planetside 2 is going to be on the PS4, so why would you need to delete Dust to make room for it? Also, maybe I'm just unfamiliar with the EVE forums community, but isn't losing your stuff half the reason why Dust and Eve are so much more fun than other games? |

Eve is fun for that reason and so could Dust be.
The difference is that in Eve I can still use all of my modules after a patch.
Then you mention PS4 without taking emerging, more powerful consumer friendly tech into account. PS4, Xbox etc etc will be stillborn as Steam will release their new toy around the same time - allowing my whole steam account on a Console. New titles will add to my existing and always accessible library.
If anyone really thinks the next generation of consoles will be around as long as the PS3 or 360 have - they are kidding themselves.
Now to the ?wtf dude? bit: This is a very abstract concept I am about to introduce you to.
The reason to delete Dust to make room for PS2 is this crazy thing called Hard Drive space. I know this sound fkn insane but - when your Hard drive has no room left on it you need to decide what to remove before adding new software. 'Too hard' - you say. 'Make it easy so even I, Sir Derpy Mcderp derp can understand this concept' - you ask.
Ok since you asked so nicely. Imagine you have a glass and it is filled all the way to the brim with water. BUT - You don't want water - you wanted milk.
Now what should we do about this dilemma?
We could solve it your way and buy a new glass and put the milk in that. However that leaves you forever with a glass of water that you don't want and has cost you extra $$$ for the new glass.
Or solve it my way - Tip the water you don't want out and fill that same glass with milk. Giving you the milk you wanted and saving the cost of the new glass.
Incomprehensible !!!!!!
