When I played EVE back in late '04 and Jan of '05, I hardly ever got kicked or dealt with massive lag.
I started again yesterday, and got kicked twice, and now this morning, I can't even log in - it's taken me 3 minutes just to get to the character selection screen and I'm stuck on Clock Synchronization.
Is this common now?

No no no - the servers are fine, at least the logs doesn't show any problems so it's all the users who have: bad computers, bad isps, bad brains.

Like most things, the lag issue is self regulating.
Lag gets too bad -> People will leave EVE -> Less lag
I firmly believe that the lag will be gone when there are 10 players left in EVE

Same here the lag and drops have gotten to my last bit of nerves. I find myself playing eve less and less. I'm down to about 2 to 3 hours a week now just can't take the lag and lose of ships due to it. Why waste my time buidling up a fleet if i loose them to lag. I can handle getting them blown up by a valid player or npc kill.

Sometimes, it isnt the lag from CCP. From what I have seen so lately, the so-called lags are probably due to:
1. wireless connection 2. isp (between client or server side)
If it is from CCP, then it is most likely due to hardware and software limitation, which when that happens, we will know because the forums will become chaotic as if, the end of Eve is near.
Just my 5 cents^^

whatever is wrong with it, everyone would probably agree lag has only gotten worse and worse as time goes on, despite the fact that it was supposed to be getting better ;p. Have u heard of any fleet battles that dont lag like crap? ;p i mean yeah they lagged before but not THAT bad! ;p
