I am fairly new to exploration. My problem is that I scan down a Cosmic Signature, warp to it and then find it's already been explored/looted.
Is there any way I can recognise anomalies that have already been explore/looted? So I don;t waste my time over and over again? |

use d-scan in general direction, if there's a ship there it's most likely already been cleaned.

Do you mean and NPC ship or a PC ship? |

I've read, that some ppl use to scan containers for a valuable loot. They empty all except for least valuable one. As long as one bin is still not processed, signature will apear as not discovered. Then they cloak and wait for someone they can kill.
So be cautious in low sec. Although I do not know how you can scan containers in data site for what is in them... |

Two answers - both kind of confusing.
So is the answer really 'No, there is no way to prevent you having to explore anomalies that other people have already looted'?

First off, anomalies or signatures? Signatures are the ones you have to scan down. |

Was it not obvious that I was talking about signatures? Sorry. |

No, it wasn't. You said anomalies in one place and signatures in another
Ok, data and relic signatures despawn when the all of the containers have been hacked. So if someone's come, raided one and left, all the other containers will still have loot and you can hack them and take it. No way that I know of to tell if someone's been in the site already and partially run it. If they've looted everything the site will despawn as soon as they leave grid.
Combat sites despawn once the overseer's killed, the wrecks in the site are a good hint that someone's been there but there are times when someone will run the site and not kill the overseer (no time, not enough DPS, etc), so worth checking. |

Not true. I scanned down a relic site last night that had nothing hackable left. Was a difficult one too, initial scan was at less than 1%. |

According to the previous patch 1.0.5, Until all lootable containers are looted or blown up for data/relic sites, sites will not despawn now. :) *stealth pirate buff* |

What constitutes a lootable container? There was nothing lootable or hackable that I could see in my case. I spent too long checking. There was however a stack of stuff to mine. Could that be the reason for a looted relic site to hang around? |

Ok, sites are supposed to despawn when the all of the containers have been hacked, but some appear to be bugged and don't and should probably be reported so that the devs can have a look at them. |

To the OP: Cargo Scanners.
These work on ships, but also on the hackables in a Data / Relic site. That is how people find the good stuff. |

Sitting in a site with Angel Info Shards right now. Diamond boxes. Data Analyzer gives "No further tools are needed to access the Angel Info Shard". Nothing here but the shards and a few asteroids. Made sure overview included everything.
Guessing they don't despawn when completed. |

More info. Was scanning down a relic site. Got to a point where it disappeared. Backed out, could no longer find it. Some of them do despawn by the looks. |

And if you're very lucky, someone leaves radiating telescope untouched. Thank you, whoever you were
