Finally I say yes!!
Yep make it possible for me to light my covert cyno jump a truck or several full of these and decimate entire fleets of hundreds of ships because it's so lol'ish and stupid.

Also to cut down on lag may want the mines to cloak, so scouts are a must! |

Well as ridiculously OP as it could be, if the mines were to have a massive explosion radius so they did very little damage to small ships, but were devastating against capitals, it could be a great counter to the massive capital fleets. Many players complain about sov warfare Being so predictable. who ever brings the most caps wins. The only threat to a huge power block alliance, is another huge power block alliance. The use of well placed mine fields could level the playing field when attacking a larger force with a smaller one.
Imagine a WTF grid between your fleet and their fleet, full of mines, anyone who crosses the border gets nailed. For balance there could be a special mine layer ship that is very large and very slow.
Although it would be more balanced if the mines had a short lifespan, it would be cool to have forgotten mine fields reak havoc on those not familiar with the area. Locals would know not to warp between X and Y because of a mine field, those not familiar with the area could easily lose there ship.
Another idea would be to have sentry towers, you can deploy and anchore them anywhere in space, but can not be within 200km of a gate, station, outpost, or POS. They could run on POS fuel modules, and do racial damage, Make them large enough that they have to be deployed by larger industrials. Say 20,000m3 so they will not fit in a blockade runner. You would need an ORA or freighter to mass deploy them in a strategic area. Like warp bubbles they can not be deployed in high or low sec. |

Hmmm I guess we could have Cap size mines but the cost on them would astronomical, and maybe a sub cap ship to put them out. Was also thinking may want to put in counters for mines with say a bomb that is able to clear mines, It goes out and 15km drop smaller bombs and shoots them in all directions, then pop |

Make mines like warp disruption bubbles had babbies with smartbombs. But give the mines an activation radius and a blast radius greater than a WDG, so you can't set up a drag bubble without the mine blowing the WDG away inside 5 minutes. Or an anchoring proximity range >the range on a large WDG.
Because then you could eliminate all the options to make them useful, and we all know, when you make something useful (like Condor) everyone abuses the hell out of it.
No drag bubble mine camps, and mines will hardly be used. Except cunningly set up on undock of your enemy's station. Indigently pwning indifferently. Some sucker buy me a Naglfar. http://www.localectomy.blogspot.com.au

Which is the whole point of an MMO, players doing stuff together to be stronger than those unable to do it, those able to do it will be playing another level of the game and steamroll on the week. Null sec is not meant for everyone, not meant for players not willing to fight for what they have and not meant for players who want "I win buttons", for those there's Mario Kart and internet cheats.
Supers/Titans are not "I win" buttons anymore, they're more of a psychological power threat than a real one. Alliances will always prefer to send hundreds of BS's and thousands of BC's than Supers, and it's also so much funnier than super fights.
Why should you on your own just get there and drop a field of mines and kill everything? -this is bad and nothing else then the super bullet insta target/kill of FPS Aimbot hacks. Pitiful tools for pitiful minded disturbed dudes with a chicken QI requiring mom's attention. You're playing an MMO, you're supposed to play with other people to get stronger, richer, powerful, and not the other way around.
Want to mess with super capital fleets? -man up, get friends, pick bombers covert cyno them to the field, get warp in points and drop bombs. If you're unable to make friends and do stuff with other people you shouldn't even be aloud to play MMO's.

Your right playing smarter isn't for the brute strength fleet, if your so powerful playing a bit smart will not kill you! So what have to bring Stealth Bomber to clear out a mine filed and the most it does is slow you down, but if your FC is a trad and your 200+ fleet flies right into a mine filed that someone took the time with his corp m8's to set up, to smack down the rich and powerful then great!

There's a reason why those were removed, if you're unable to understand it no one can help you and you. I like this idea. Make the mines magnetic, therefore any mines laid next to the gate, hit the gate and the pilot gets concorded, problem solved. |

I think this is a really bad idea. In a few years when goons control all of EvE little goon kids are going to be having limbs blown off finding or stumbling upon old abandoned mines, for what? A war noone remembers? Clearing old mines is harder snd more expensive than you think and the people who deploy them certainly wont fo it. |

It is more of a request from the fans of Mines, to have CCP bring back mines to the game and a few crying folks that don't want them. Me personally I think It would be great to have mines and putting focus on having to us Covert Ops ships to scout out mines. As for the lag mines us to bring if they are cloaked mines and only ships that can see them would be covert ops/mine sniffing ships that would cut down on the lag for fleets not so much for the covert guys lol |

That might help cut down on some client-side performance issues for some people, but I don't see how it could possibly cut down on any server-side performance issues that would affect everyone given that the game will be constantly checking to determine which ships in range of the mines are able to view them and which aren't as well as all the calculations associated with whether or not the mines should blow up, decloak, or what have you. |

A simple IF statement should handle that issue
IF (Covert Ops = True show Mines) IF (Non Covert ship = No show Mines) |

to address that make it so you cant drop mines on gate grids or towers / kind of like how you cant drop bombs in empire us the same scripts but change it for gate grids |
