Drake vs Drake Navy Issue Drake has 6 launcher slots, at CBC level 5, you get 50% more damage per launcher, this comes down to the equivalent of 9 launchers. Drake Navy Issue has 8 launchers at 0 damage bonus.
Drake has 4% resist per level, meaning 20% more resist at CBC 5, so you take 20% less damage before fitting resistance modules or rigs, which makes the Drake's tank basically the same ( in terms of EHP ) as the Drake Navy Issue.
All the Drake Navy Issue does better than the normal Drake, is fire from longer range and hit smaller targets.
Effectively, you guys made an attempt at a "sniper" missile boat.
Ok, now in terms of how we can use it. PVE: Drake Navy Issue is better at disposing smaller targets at higher range, BUT, fitting just 1 target painter to a normal drake, will make all those lovely Drake Navy Issue stats useless, seeing as it's a little easier to "sacrifice" a mid slot on the normal Drake. Also, the extra range is over-rated and hardly means anything out there.
PVP: You can make a "long" range sniper Drake. But it being missiles, makes it useless again, since the travel-time of missiles makes them less than loved.
The only advantage i can see ( and it is only small ), is that HAM's effectively get the same range as normal Heavies, or just slightly over. Out there though, the short range of the HAM's on a normal Drake, are only a very small "issue".
So i ask, anyone, the Drake Navy Issue, why does it exist? If a man speaks his mind in the forest and no woman hears him, is he still wrong? |

It exists for people who do more than just chaining lvl 3&4, it's fantastic with HAMs and still gets similar EHP numbers even though it lacks a resist bonus.

It does less damage than the Drake ( provided you shoot kinetic, which most people do ) and all it gives back is more range. I live in null, i know targets get out of HAM range often, but the inconvenience is really only small, i just don't find it enough of a reason to fork out 2 or 3 times ( think at this point in time, it's even 5 times still ) the iskies for it.
******Edit****** just checked eve-central, it's even 6 times the iskies and up. If a man speaks his mind in the forest and no woman hears him, is he still wrong? |

Why would "most people" shoot kinetic, only reason would be when doing pve against guristas of when fighting T2/T3 minmatar shield ships. You do know that there's more to EVE than doing PVE in Caldari space, right?
The new navy BC are not a direct upgrade, because that would make them terrible OP (something I was afraid of to happen) but they're a sidegrade; they're not outright better but have a different use or focus. I'm sorry that you expected to have the super tanked Drake of hell for your ratting. Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

Why the hostile attitude all the sudden? You do know the majority of people actually play in Caldari space right?
Who told you i was looking for an OP Drake btw? cause i certainly didn't ask for that anywhere.
I do know CCP was talking about the Navy Drake basically being what the old Drake used to be, which was basically comparable to a Tengu ( which will not be the Tengu we know now in future either ), in terms of DPS and tank.
Why do you presume this negative intention on my part? All i want to really know, is what warrants the iskies for this thing? If a man speaks his mind in the forest and no woman hears him, is he still wrong? |

- because you don't listen - no, they don't. Just most mission runners do - you did, by asking why a ship with no direct dps increase or shield resists is so expensive. That means that you expected this new and expensive ship to have more dps and tank. From the second you heard about that Navy Drake you had dreams, wet ones, about the shlurp dps and super uber tank. I know you did, we all do because it's so obvious from this whole thread
- drake never was comparable to a tengu
- because you whine like a carebear
- as I explained before, it's really good in *some* situations, mostly pvp ones, and for those people it's possibly a good investment

Hams at hm range is no small thing. You can't just write the biggest improvement off as small because you think it's "overrated".
With Hams you should be getting closer to double the damage of a hm normal drake. |

Yup. And with the explosion radius bonus it makes HAMs awesome increasing applied dps against targets they normally have issues with. And even though it doesn't have resists it has more HP making up for it. So all in all it's a good ship, for specific uses.
But it's not a carebear's dream ship, and that's a good thing.

The navy Drake does seem underwhelming compared to the navy Brutix. The only thing you pay for with the navy Drake are the new blah bonuses. With the navy Brutix you pay for the better tracking, the HP, and more damage. Is that really fair? I wear my sunglasses at night. |

It's a fine boat. With 0 pimp fittings I get: 691 DPS on rage Hams shooting out to 25km. Buffer fit cap stable with AB 473m/s 112k omni damage EHP 161 passive resist BEFORE boosts.
with Tengu style of pimp: 750 DPS 520 m/s 154k omni EHP 245 passive {183k EHP 300 passive with tengu boost}

I really don't get it.
We got a Drake that has true selectable damage, more range, better damage application, more EHP, more speed, more agility, more capacitor and some are acting like its a nerf...O_o
The only reason someone could be a little grumpy about is the loss of the utility high. But even then, the real PvP potential more than makes up for it. |

If you get only 750 dps out of your HAM Tengu you're doing it wrong, I've got a T2 fitted with and already get 840DPS out of Rage HAM's up to 39km (spec4 no implants). 1Rig change for lulz and I get 45km with rage 49with faction and 75with javs.
Tank with GANK, overheat the thing, pImp BCU's and you'll look like this Cheapo stuff for a T3 T2 fitted around 650M jita prices, decent tank, decent speed but most important: excellent dmg projection -over 650dps with kin javs -500+ with any other dmg type
Navy Drake has different uses but most Drake users/lovers are unable to think a bit around bonus and work their ship for, it's easier to come on GD beg for solutions or claim it's bad. Well it is not. *removed inappropriate ASCII art signature* - CCP Eterne |
