Hello all, I've always been a PVE person, and I thought I wasn't really missing anything if I avoided the pvp in this game. That changed today. I was flying to meet up with a corp mate to do some exploration and upon warping to a gate a destroyer warped in 15km away and he had been flagged as a suspect. Decided today I would do something other than ignore him and just go off to do my normal routine. It was over quicker than I expected, soon as I fired at him I was super nervous and excited but it was kind of hard to pilot my ship properly because my hands were shaking lol. Blew up his ship, looted him and then docked and rushed here to share my excitement! :D And now I want more. A lot more.
Do you get the same excitement every time you pvp? Or does it eventually wear off? I hope the excitement of it remains but I could do without the super nervous shaking of my hands lol.

The excitement of scooping the escape pods for their non capsuleer crew and putting each in the Exsanguinator one by one is a thrill that is only matched by their begging for the suffering to end.
That and yeah PVP is hellafun

The more you fight, the less nervous you get.
I still get about the same level of excitement in each fight. But what really does it for me, is the hunt. Surrender is still your slightly less painful option. |

Ha ha ha, OP lost their PVP cherry! You might feel the same excitement during PvP, but I doubt it will ever be the same as your first time. Also, be prepared to be disappointed too if you lose your ship and pod. *removed inappropriate signature* - CCP Eterne |

Kind of look fwd to dying for the first time too lol. I look fwd to more excitement in the future, even if I end up on the losing end of things. It's like a whole new game for me all over again :D |

Welcome to the fold!
Yes, the adrenaline shakes will wear off in time but the excitement doesn't, at least for me anyway. I love the thrill of the hunt and tackling them. It never gets old.
And remember to get the pod. The pod is the delicious after-dinner mint of the PvP meal! |

It will take quite some time to get the shakes under control. I still get them every once in a while, but they are rare. I do not get quite the same rush, but it is still a rush. I guess it eventually gets to the point where you can determine the outcome of most engagements before you fight, so you can expect what will happen. That helps a lot. The only time I really get what you're describing is when it's a larger fight, or an equally matched fight where the outcome can't be determined with any certainty. Had a good fight like that the other day.
I would say that the excitement tempers, but you'll still get the full blown excitement every once in a while. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia A blog about contractual killing - http://www.blackstormcartel.blogspot.com |

If you are in no danger of counter attack, dont forget to web and point the pod. That way they are at your mercy. Neut them for a while, that can be fun, or just hold them until they are about to self-destruct, then slit their throats and let the Tainted Claret gush forth.

Would I have been able to pod a suspect? I didn't think I would be able to so I didn't bother trying to point him. He didn't warp off right away either so I did have time to do it, just didn't think I'd have rights to do so. |

I should point out that podding is still illegal in high sec, so..... if you are concerned about legality then you probably shouldnt

Yes.
When you attack a Suspect, your and him will be in a so called "Limited Engagement". Top left corner of the screen will have a blue icon indicating so. While in a Limited Engagement, podding is legal everywhere, even during a duel. You yourself are subject to the same rules.
EDIT: If you feel you are missing "the rush" fit a ship you would slightly regret to lose, but can afford to replace timely. |

Those shakes are why we have that big blue donut in Null.
If any of those fatties forgot their heart meds and suddenly, PVP, we'd have news stories about how EVE kills people in real life.

This excitement lasts for quite some time, and can be further extended by just pointing the ship or pod after getting them into structure and opening comms to nagotiate ransom terms :muahahahahah: http://evedarklord.blogspot.ca |
