What's the cheapest npc price? i've only found 6500 so far for buying, and 7166 for selling. Is there any other? Also, sometimes demand show up at 1 station, and change places the next day. I had the impression the demand/supply respawn at the same station every time

Welcome to the Wonderful World of the Trader.
Yes it does change everyday, although if you pay attention you can often see that 4 days out of 5 it will be one system and before long, you'll get the hang of which stations buy and sell.
Apart from that I am of no use because I have been unable to break into thr robotics trade either.
While I'm here, does anybody want 3000 units of Science Skills? It seemed like a good idea at the time :) ------------------------------------------------------------

Lol @ science skills.
As for the robotics, i remember it being sold for 6110 by npcs, bout 20 jumps away bought for 6670.
Thing is, those robotics are bought up soon as they come out with standing buy orders, believe me i've been watching. ------------------- Basic truths? Idiots make us rich. - Some people are only alive because it is illegal to kill them. |

Yeah, that brings up a good point - since there is finite supply, and the trade system allows you to place a buy order in a FIFO (First in, first out) situation, the rich who already ahve the money to do so will automatically buy out the entire inventories of worthwhile "low price" trade goods like robotics before a human being can do so.
That's a point that desperately needs to be addressed. It means that the first one to get rich enough to do so can (and has) cornered the market for eternity and there is no way to push them out of that position. Even if your character is there in person to buy, the orders are automatically filled before you can do it.

I have no idea if it works or not.. but can you not just put in a purchase order for like 1 isk more then the guy whose soaking up all the goods, and then won't you get your order filled first?
Or does buying from NPC's work differently then that?

Thanks for the replies, but what if in the case that you've already bought it. And does the sell orders work the same way as buy orders? for example, i've noticed some stations that buys high, and when i get there, the demand are filled, so i unload my goods, and put a sell order for tomororw. HOWEVER the orders never get filled. Is it because the later you put in the sell order, ther earlier it gets processed? S I G N A T U R E |

Not too sure about sells, i think they might work diff if that is the case with what you are doing. ------------------- Basic truths? Idiots make us rich. - Some people are only alive because it is illegal to kill them. |

Abbet - no, it's a FIFO system. Even if you outbid me, as long as I meet the NPC demand price my order will get processed first if I placed it first. You can't outbid me if my order was placed before yours.

Actually, the market's using a LIFO system. Last person to place an order gets it filled first. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but that's the way it works today.

I am pretty sure it is FIFO, but neither way is too good; it should be "the NPC buys from whoever offers him the best price first, then from the person offering the second best price, then from teh person offering the third best price, etc."

Actually guys, its not the price you get it at, its the price you sell it at, if you can sell before the other guy does at raging prices and get a better profit, he losses "if you wish to live wisely, ignore sayings like this one" -Annonymous

It's Last In First Out. That's why there's a mad rush to sell things right before downtime every day. The problem is the people that put in orders 1 minute or less before downtime to make sure they get the order met when the market reboots.
If it were a FIFO then someone could put a ridiculously high order in and then no one else would ever be able to sell at that station for a long time. There is a problem on both sides but the LIFO works a little better.
The devs are looking into solutions for this to make it a little more equitable to those who don't want to set their alarm clocks to 5 minutes before downtime. Trust me there are those who do it.

My problem is that ins some cases, like robotics, because of that order system it's hard to even figure out WHERE one can buy robotics at a good price because the supply is instantly drained to zero.

I realy dont get why npc buy/sell orders cant be changed throughout the day, whilst the server is up.
I mean asteriods regen why not the orders?
It would make it a much better system. I know im not the first to post this but why not impliment timezones within eve. Different regions buy/sell at different times.

I keep reading this, but even if I creep up on it or squint at it from a distance, I still don't understand it ! With apologies for being dim, would those who understand this business of players placing huge buy orders be able to explain how the system works, in simple terms ? Why is it that when selling stuff I keep getting message like "this is far lower than the average price of X isk, are you sure you want to sell ?", then I find that the price appears to be the same everywhere - so where are these averages coming from ?
Yours in hopeful confusion...
