For what it is worth. I really like the things I have been seeing post apology have been really good. So here is one pilot recently resubscribed. But I will watch you closely. I have already lost one game I loved to stupid changes (SWG) I don't want to lose Eve. I hope you guys realize you cater to a different type of gamer that doesn't put up with certain things. |

Hi Mr. Hilmar P+¬tursson
Thanks for a very enlighting interview, I'm happy to see CCP back in the spaceship business again.
I do agree that WIS is a Nice To Have rather than Required feature for EVE Online.
It is allso my experience/observation that the CSM are pulling in a particular way for the game play - CSM members need to evenly distributed across all gameplay types - they are our representatives, not their corp or alliance representatives. I do think the CSM is a good thing, but adjustments are needed.
Looking forward to new stuff Soon(tm).
Regards.

It is much easier for power blocks to rally support for a particular candidate or candidates. While the current CSM reflects this more so than the last two, the fault lies with everyone who didn't vote for other types of members and the fact that non power block candidates have a much harder time at rallying support, especially those who are primarily Highsec or industrial candidates and for them its closer to a popularity competition than anything else - how else would they get known?
While I do agree that this is true we do have current members like Meissa who is not only a very experienced CSM (hes been on pretty much all of them as a full member or an alternate) but is extremely well versed in all parts of the game and you can be sure that he doesn't focus on just one area of the game. Saying this, he can't do everything by himself, which is why we're lucky Trebor is there to help him.
However, how else could elections go or the selection process be made? I cannot see a way that would be fairer than the current system and also fix this problem. How would you identify correctly those standing for a specific playstyle or player type - some candidates like myself run/ran on a specific platform designed to benefit all, and then you have those running from a particular angle and are just doing so as a marketing strategy, and of course those who will say anything to get a free trip to Iceland (Although they inevitably find out its definatly not free). I'm no politician and have no ideas about this, but I do want to see things improve! |

Nice words, great promises, been there, done that. I'm really sorry for my scepticism, but I seriously wonder if this new and improved 'Community Team' will take a look at my post here. I will be pleasantly surprised if this can get an answer, ANY answer, because my previous attempts at pointing your attention at this apparently failed miserably. Statement on behalf of CCP from Arnar Hrafn Gylfason, Senior Producer for EVE Online. Good communication and trust between CCP and the EVE community has always been a fundamental priority for CCP and will continue to be so. |

Please can I suggest something HUGE that really supports what you are saying here.
In order to allow for stronger communication there needs to be an ability for GMs to escalate petitions to bug reports FROM THEIR END.
Too many times I have petitioned something to hear "could you raise this as a bug report?"
The reason given is that it allows for devs to communicatee with me directly. There is no reason why if I as a player am petitioning an issue that I am not fully intending to have my character name passed up the chain to get the problem sorted. I as a player dont care (well I do but many wouldn't) what internal processes occur in getting things done.
The problem is that you make the player do something twice.. Its a frustrating thing when you encounter a bug to go through the process at all let alone twice!
As a process.. it sucks..
Often I will report things that might benefit me but have a huge impact on the game as a whole.. I'm helping you guys out and it feels like your turning around and saying "we're kinda interested.. but you havent done enough.. we'd like you to jump through that hoop over there first after we set you on fire".
I have raised this through petition aswell but this devblog got me frustrated again.
Hope this gets to someone that can do something about it. |

As always I'll remain a skeptical idealist. Meaning that I'll look for the best and promicing things, yet remain cautious not to get too attached and to always remain objective and critical(constructively so).
It's been very heartening to see the reformation in CCP, yet I am very mortified by the cuts you've had to make in the personel side. After so much time and experiences together it must feel like losing friends, not to mention talented and passionate colleagues. As little as it might seem to those impacted by these events; Fortune with you, and fly free.
As for the development side of things I'm very gland that we're getting new ships to pilot to their doom, and also the forthcoming player owned planetary customs offices appear excellent, even as they cut into my currently highsec based operations, but thats the name of the game in EVE; Higher risk, higher reward.
As to the Hilmar thing that is a hot topic today; He's human. He's made some very nasty mistakes. And now he's taking responsibility in them. That alone deserves recognition, but I'll reserve my judgment on the effectiveness of his actions to remedy the damage that has been made until they become more clear. Time will tell.
In closing: So far so good CCP. Let's keep this up and EVE will be even more grand. It requires more than a day's devotion to know and to possess the wealth of a day. |

I play the role of lurker rather well both here on this forum and on twitter and I will miss some of the community personalities that had to be let go. And while I am sure those that remain will do their best to pick up the slack.
I have to wonder for a world wide game such as Eve. If all your community resources are in one place in one time zone. There are going to be dead hours of interaction during other locations prime times I would imagine. IE no feedback until the following day for some questions or concerns.
Or are you guys going to have different work shifts?

I'm no politician and have no ideas about this, but I do want to see things improve! I'm not sure why this question is on this thread, but there is at least one answer to it which is proportional representation. On each ballot you would mark your first choice, second choice, on down the line for as many candidates as you chose to. Basically, if your first choice candidate was eliminated, your vote would go to your second choice and so on. There are some additional complications to the process, but this system is used in real world elections around the world and it works.
The advantage is that you let the voters decide which candidates represent their particular playing style and not some contrived system. You still have the problem of getting unorganized players to go to the polls, but I think that is a problem you have to live with. At least under PR the unorganized players would have a chance for representation and so they would have some motivation to participate.

CCP Navigator wrote:Gripen wrote:CCP Navigator wrote:... volunteer moderator program. This won't end well. When we made the decision, several weeks ago, to bring the volunteer program back we sat down and looked at what players were unhappy with in the past. We intend to work closely with everyone in Customer Relations and with the CSM to ensure that we produce a program which allows volunteers to keep the forums clean but not access other players information. You should expect a fully comprehensive blog in the next two weeks which will explain everything.
Wait... what? You need more help because 'the powers that be' overspent, made bad decisions, then FIRED some very respected employees... and the solution decided on is expecting your customers to do that work for free?

Doubtfull, (could probably Hex hack ram values or something) but the way all those values come out from a database, for it to be realy tested they would have to change those values in the db, then reload them, recalculate skills etc etc.
What we do see in the datadump are non published modules that influence power\cpu (at least we did) wouldnt be much of a leap to have scripts for these mods giving x% boost to power\cpu

As a matter of fact, yes. There will be a video blog about the Customer Relations department, although it remains to be seen whether it will include rap songs.

I'm not sure if thats a question you really want me to answer here - just ask poor navigator what its like to sit next to me when i get going :P But sure, I have billions of ideas. Player events are the only things that ever drove me to play eve and they're all I spent my time doing before I quit, and I think they're a completely untapped marketing tool for CCP. The announcement of renewed attention to the community is what brought me back although its a little depressing to see so many of the team gone. I will have a serious think about some of the ideas that are actually feasable and relevant now (some of my ideas are a little outdated now i'd say) and get back to you. I'll also see if I can find my "T'amber's Bible to running, managing and marketing ingame eve events" document which some people found useful.
But the first thing that would be good is something like this: http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s260/MrOosterman/eventmenu_version2_mouseover.jpg
Its extremely hard for CCP to support or market player events with the potential for scams and negative results reflecting back on CCP and its something that would need to be adresses before anything extensive could happen on a wider scale than it does already. Other than news posts, unsold items from the eve shop, free fanfest tickets, and free accounts how do you actually support them, and how many people get this kind of support, if this still happens at all?

Not sure if this will be seen alllll the way back here.
Now, community vol' programs.
Wouldnt this be a awesome time to breath life back into the ISD and bring back AURORA and STAR?
Failings for Aurora -
The players always insta killed us as we were fitted with T2 - T2 isnt a bi deal now allowing story arcs to really be lived. Not enough events - Dont limit EP's this time, at least not as much, a SEP was as able as a EP to do core story lines yet it was never allowed. Politics - Just... no. Nebula left entirely due to politics. Dev time - Ammount of dev time to create the super chars, item lists etc. Dev tools - Did EA's or even EP's ever really need /tr etc?
Dev's i know some of you came from the ISD in particular one red headed (or was it ginger...?) CCP'er, so how about pushing this along, surely Helmar can understand the players excitement to see some teal text in local? |
