The servers are not shutting down earlier or later.
You have moved your clocks.
A solution to this is to move your clocks back. For example, if I want the downtime to happen at 6 PM instead of 6 AM (I'm in EST time), I can take my clocks and move them forward 12 hours. - Proud member of the [23].

Edited by: Thomus on 31/10/2005 14:56:43 D Cent, we in England, or you, wherever you are where the clocks change, are not the centre of the universe. Eve times, which are tied to the non changing GMT, won't change because a few of us have change our clocks.
Like they said in one of the bond films 'typical british, still think they can police the world' or something like that.
D Cent - YOU change - Eve doesn't!!!
EDIT: ok, i see what ur saying now. If your clock went back, then EVE will appear to have DT an hour earlier.
I bet 1 million isk that this is not the last guy to start a 'time changing' thread, wondering if the rest of the world has to do what they do... ----------------

He's right coz you would have to live in Edinburgh to be at the centre of the universe.

I went to Edinburgh once. Strange place, full of delusional people...
Oh, and when it comes to clocks and timezones, Britain is the centre of the world, or the Greenwich Obeservatory is at any rate.

Dammit. There goes the neighborhood.
Although now it sucks for me because I'm used to waking up in the morning, changing a skill before I go to work, and now I can't because of the time change... servers go down for maintainance(sp?) when I normally change skills.

moving the hour hand of the clocks forwards and back is an outdated ideal that it 'saves daylight'.
There is no reason to continue this bastardised time clock altering but they would have to role their mindset back 50 years, before the idiots in office decided it would be a good idea. (hurray for politicians and their stupidity)

Well acctualy if the universe is infinite, or if spacetime is curved (an one of those must be true) EVERYWHERE is at its centre, including the place where I am, so I will no longer except the arguament the I am not the centre of the universe.

And in this same vein, GMT has meaning how?
By the way, starting in 2007, the US will extend DST by about 4 weeks, starting about 3 weeks earlier (2nd Sun in March instead of 1st Sun in April) and ending about one week later (1st Sun in Nov instead of last Sun in Oct).

I belive it's done to save energy. It shifts the daylight hours towards the busiest part of the day, saving the increased costs of lighting and heating in the peak time. When done across a large percentage of the planet it really adds up to big savings of resources.
