ONLY SOLUTION IS TO LAUNCH THE EXE FILE FROM THE BIN FOLDER!!!!
IF THE GAME WON'T START CORRECTLY AFTER THE PATCH ON JUNE 4TH, AFTER WHICH AS SCUTTLEBUTT SAYS THE LOGIN WILL BE VIA LAUNCHER ONLY, PREPARE FOR A REALLY BAD PRESS:::
NO WAS I AM GOING TO ADVICE ANY OF MY FRIENDS TO CREATE AN EVE ACCOUNT.
REASON: CCP IS GOING IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS BLIZZARD.... INTO OBLIVION... if they remove the exefile way of logging in on June 4th and this new launcher still isnt sorted, Eve will officially be dead as far as my accounts are concerned.
EVE would loose 50% of their users over night and the rest would drop out in the month after due to boredom since there'd be no skilled players left. I'd definitely leave if the exe-option were to disappear.

unless of course the Odyssey Patch has elements that actually require this Launcher SSO configuration to work ......
in which case, we may have a Launcher that doesnt work, that is responsible for adding in any major content patches that it has so far managed to make a mess of handling, that then may not be fully functional in time for the next even larger content patch on 4th of June.........
I have a bad feeling about this.
Follow me:
1) Rabid need to deploy this piece of crook. Why?
2) It makes us see no fancy awesome log in screen any longer.
Deduction:
CCP to save on money never designed and coded a log in screen for Odyssey so now they MUST push this steaming pile on us, otherwise they can't deliver the "expansion" in time as it lacks hundreds of man hours worth of a new log in screen.

Updated new launcher still leaves zombie Launcher.exe processes open in Windows XP. Still slow, still... everything
Constructive Feedback? Ok here-
1) In honour of your new Single Sign On protocol, I suggest you change your name from CCP to SSO -Oh, that means Sony's Sockpuppets Online
2) Since you don't listen to anyone anyway, I suggest you form your own city in Iceland so you don't have to follow any Reykjavik policies or pay them taxes. - Might I suggest you name it Borkjavik in honour of your stellar patch history?
3) The New Sony Sockpuppets Online corp based in Borkjavik, Iceland should adopt this as it's corporate Logo: - New Corporate Logo
There. Three constructive ideas and only 2 criticisms. Does that count as constructive ffedback? |

Even as Admin the launcher only saves 1 username, it doesnt allow you to scroll down to the relevent name and then input the pw. |

If the browser isn't saving the usernames I need those logs to be able to work out why; is it a permissions issue, some weird misconfiguration or an environment issue. Looks like the issues I reported here have been resolved (launcher now works to actually LAUNCH the program, retains account names, etc). It did ask me to approve the EULA 3 out of five times, but whatever...
Also noted that when you "launch" a new account, it keep the old user still logged in. Might have to get used to that (spawning extra copies I didn't expect, but not worth complaining about).
Looks like the latest problem has been fixed (is that 3 days?). Well I just updated mine and I still have to wait for it to check client files every time it starts. I still cannot right click paste into the password box. It doesn't log me straight in when I press the log in button. It also forgot my account name from yesterday. So still a long way to go. I just hope the journey will be worth it and single log in is all it's cracked up to be.
I'm wondering if there are now user rights issues that weren't looked at (or even considered) in the file changes CCP made for the "new" launcher. I run as admin-equivalent on Win8 laptop here and Win8 desktop at home *not* thru Steam, and both were remembering all account names I had logged into since the update from this morning. With this config I haven't seen any problems *yet* today.

i'll do a bug report because looking at the length of the launcher log file, i'll get banned for flooding if i post all that in here. :D |

Quick update:
I noticed that if you have the "Close the Eve Launcher" checkbox selected in the Launcher it will not remember the credentials you logged in with if it wasn't already saved. Clear that checkbox, re-launch the Launcher, and try a different, unsaved account name. It should save it at that point. "Blow it all on Quafe and strippers." --- Sorlac |

I always shut that off to save memory and bloat, but I guess I'll keep it on long enough to let it save the account names.

TL:DR - Non-constructive criticism.
This new launcher is pure horror! What on Earth made you remove the login screen?? Come on CCP, you can do better than that, even when you have the DERP period on (as it seems).
I feel disgusted. Something in the way I get taken to the character screen makes me want to wash myself. I'm very disappointed. |

Super easy solution that can be implemented by tomorrow:
1) Get rid of the donkey selector, annoying switcher link and so on.
2) Put a scroll box with the list of all account names, each with a checkbox before it.
3) The players checks all the accounts he wants to log in (the checkboxes selection get saved for the next sessions of course).
4) ONE button to press, which spawns all the checked accounts.
Done. Fast, usable, immediate, scalable, requires limited brain and time to implement. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

Now that the launcher actually works, your suggestions actually ADD time to the launch process. Click a check box next to an account you want to start? You're assuming a) saving passwords [bad idea] and/or b) a "master" account from which all accounts can be controlled. May I suggest you actually use the Launcher? At home this morning I had to click one button, enter creds, and a second client with that account launched, no problem. Your suggestions are both time consuming and counter-intuitive. Not being critical of your offered solutions but this is the very functionality that CCP is currently showing everyone that they want to get rid of, shame really as running between six and ten accounts needed some days for Corp work will become impossible if they continue along this route.
Question for the day though will be: CCP please explain why you feel that this current log in procedure is required.?? |

Hey guys,
Forgive me if I missed something, but my launcher is still running in offline mode.
Troubleshooting:
- - Ran EVEfile.exe (from the bin folder) which prompted me for an update at the login screen that I accepted and downloaded w/o issue.
- Ran repairer.exe which supposedly completed and repaired the build successfully.
Again, please forgive me if I missed the solution somewhere within this massive thread... It's just that I'm actually at work and would love to play EVE on my lunch break!
Thanks in advance,
-Wayston |
