Quote: Not everywhere in Sinq is 0.4 though, so if their plan for being Guardians to the whole of Sinq Lasion goes through, it will be interesting to see them guard places like Pulin or Foves effectivley. Unless they plan only to "Law Enforce" in 0.4 systems.
Concord turns a blind eye in terms of protection to player run corps in times of war. They find its best to let the disputes run themselves through to a bloody end before charging in and taxing whatever remains are left.
At this time, we currently only offer protection for law abiding citizens of Basgerin (Those that pay the mining tariffs or rat hunting fees). However there are many ways we can broaden our range of services, such as taxing ore productions lines in empire space to help secure them from ore theivery, or even possibly accept bribes to help avoid possible incidental war declarations made against them by unnamed corporations.
After we are happy with how Basgerin is reformed and structured, we will let the pilots of Sinq Laison and other surrounding regions be aware of our intentions. (since they may be affected as well)
If you do seek a quiet and safe place to mine or perhaps are looking to start a combat career and hunt down rats up to 55k, do not hesitate to contact Wolfgang H or myself to arrange payment of the appropraite tarriff. We also allow tourists in shuttle ships to browse through Basgerin freely as well, but do engage the local hostiles at your own peril! Our law abiding citizens are all testament to how successful and happy mining in a secure and controlled system such as ours can be.

I fail to see how you are "protecting" anyone if the only guarantee you can make is that your own corp won't kill the people who are paying you. It sounds a bit more like extortion to me, except that when you pay "protection" in real life, they actually do protect you from other people.

We kill everyone who:
A) Does not have permission to be in the system (pirates dont have permission to be in the system)
B) Attacks people who have permission to be in the system (pirates attack people who have permission to be in the system)
And as a side note: Because the system is no longer flooded with tons of random miners, there is/are more ore/npcs with much less hassle for the people who are willing to pay the small fees. ---

I dont mind those people unless they are openly rude/hostile for no reason. We've had to get out the scan probes for one or two of them before and kill them/make it so they cant finish their precious mission.
Since they do not tax the systems belt npcs/astroids and do not require our protection since they are in a small out-of-the-way pocket of space, I do not mind them visiting our system....as long as they only go from gate to mission and back. ---

As a 'noob' that curiously joined one of their enemies - I can answer this from experience.
While *in* Basgerin, there are no greater threats than Kager (no disrespect wolf, but we've not crossed paths and i'm giving full experienced disclosure). Yes, the guardians are definately racketeering - but just like any real world local mob - you do not want the biggest threat in the area harrassing you. Although due to my noobness I can no longer go to Basgerin hehe, I didnt see any other threats in the system but the guardians. Pirates no doubt can not hack it there.
As for the wide-spread racketeering, I learned last night, that laying low in noob sectors does not buy you any forgiveness to agression, should you become a target of their war. I coincedentally bumped into Kager in Oursalaurt (0.9 2 hops from new char station) and she dedicatedly prosecuted the declared war.
And in testimony to anyone wondering if they'll get scammed, twice now I've run across Kager, and of course being so crappy at PvP skills I was easily bested. BUT... Both times she answered the surrender, and honored the payment and 24 hour fee. Last night cost me 5 million, but it was a valuable lesson on many levels - and Kager was fun :)

So you don't mind them.. yet you've used scan probes to go out and kill them? Sounds about as logical as most of the crap you guys do/say.

You might consider reading the words of the quote you provide in order to prevent looking stupid when you make a snarky remark about the quote.
He clearly said he doesn't mind those people unless they are openly rude or hostile.

Hi, all. I'm glad I got to be there for the begining of the Claiming of Basgerin.
But I've been getting a little bit worse with my spine and have to play laying down in my bed next to the computer and so can not type too well in game to comunicate good enough to be involved.
But good fun to all, I'll be watching, I'm just putting around a few systems doing things like making drones and stuff, I'm still having fun though. :)

Kager O you said "
Here is but one of the deserters found
Enyo engagement
Enyo runs out of cap, and statemates the encounter by ceasing fire, and holding tank till he can jump gate"
That's not entirely true and you know it. For one, I run an infinite cap. For two, I ran out of ammo, because I was on my way to get ammo. You also forget to mention I not only tanked you while webbed and scrambled, but that I also took you down to 2/3'd armor with only ammo in guns. If you intend to gloat about something as stupid as losing a battle please at least remember the facts. You couldnt beat me 1on1 if Hades froze over. Your a good pilot, but don't exceed your skills by saying you can win against me. Kristoffer is my equal, not you.

Wolfgang H i don't know what your trying to prove but you've ruined a nice system with nice players in my opinion that makes you a pirate no matter if you got your sec status back up.

Yarrr, pirating doesnt seem to be working out for any of you "Guardians". So you've had your little fun - but you remain mostly offline. When online you run from 90% of my engagements with you. You are too scared to show your faces in Basgerin that we have to go looking for you! That coupled with the fact that AGAIN you haven't paid your war bills suggests that you really don't have a clue what you are doing. You're all in out of your depth. You cannot control Basgerin - a 0.4 system. You cannot maintain a war for longer than a week. What makes you think Sinq is yours? Answers on a postcard please. PS: If you wanna fight - try logging on. Yarr

Dear random alt00343,
I appologize for my absence the last few nights in Basgerin, for I have been busy moving in the real life to a new location, which has left me for the most part offline (however I was able to procure a few more tariffs and 2 ransoms in the last 3 days even with this absense) That 28 million from ransoms and tariffs alone is more then enough in the corp bank to pay off any wars we wish to keep active, however for the ones we have declared, I have not seen an enemy within 5 jumps of Basgerin in the last week, and thus appears that we may just be wasting the cash on those for the most part.
I am not sure how we "run" from any engagements, since every one I have engaged has left an enemies destroyed ship or a healthy transaction into my wallet in its path. Perhaps "running" to drop off their loot is what you are referring to. If you spent a little more time in Basgerin, you would see that the only time there are more then 2 people in the system itself is shortly after the down time, when the local Euro troops are online to begin mining. And for the most part, they are all legal law abiding miners who pay to do so. The other times, its of course just myself and an alt for the most part. Sitting alone in space wondering if we shall ever see the remains of the previously scattered law breaking miner corps travelling back from across the hidden bivouaquer's of the galaxy, since their vanity and pride caused them to refuse the minor tariff imposed for their safety.
PS: If you wanna fight - try logging on your main character and head to Basgerin.
Yours truly,
Kager O Guardian and Undisputed Protectorate of Basgerin.

Geniune apology I thought I was posting in this character! Kager we were waiting outside the station for you for ages - both in Basgerin and Jas - you're NEVER around. Kris can testify that there is plenty of "enemy" activity around Basgerin, and that we are not afraid of anyone who threatens the peace.
What are your reasons for ending the war kager? I'm interested. Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeva

Did you not just read my recent post?
a) I am moving at this time while still holding a full time job
b) when I do play, there is not a single enemy online, not mind within 5 jumps (and this is out of 2 corps of 20+ players) Not sure why war was ended though, would have to ask Wolfie.

Yes, the obivious and terrifying enemy activity has caused me to flee Basgerin and do level 3 missions out of fear for my ship every time I log on.

Room has been made for three other corps we were considering declaring on, but perhaps a slot or two could be used to redeclare on your corp and one of your allies, since you seem to care so much about it. The Guardians of Basgerin are afraid of no one!
I should let you know that I, much like Kµger, have been busy IRL for the most part. When I have logged in and scanned the system and talked with other Guardians, nothing has alerted me that Basgerin was full of anything but cooperative and peaceful folk. Perhaps had I spent more time waiting we would have bumped into eachother.
In all reality, the more orderly and peaceful Basgerin becomes the less desire I have for war. Of course, if malicious pilots entered Basgerin and began to disrupt it's people and break the laws, my thirst of combat would instantly spring to life. ---

Just curious ... do you let orethiefs roam your space ? I mean ...do you protect your customer from orethiefs ?
Reason I ask is because a while a go I was in there and well we saw the local orethief (yeah I know orethiefing in low sec means someone got balls)....
Or can she maybe pay you and you let her do as she please ???

Hm... good question. I dont think it would be fair to the other law abiding miners though to allow an ore theif to molest them, even if the ore theif paid a good amount of isk. ---

I think if you got people to use frigates to sit and mine hours upon hours each day it would be a victory for me by default in and of itself. Besides, who would actually do that?
I would! just because i hate pirates that call themselves the law
Another option I would have is to just target haulers and jett cans. Forcing a bunch of people to use alts with low mining skills and tech 1 frigates is bad enough. Making them haul their ore to station every time their tiny cargo hold gets full because they cant use more expensive hauling ships would be even worse.
not a bad idea really
aw, crap i used the wrong character i ment to use Caliith
