Hello pilots.
im wondering a couple of things since im new to this galaxy. when an upcoming "change" is coming and your existing ship is part of that "change/rebalance".. what happens to your existing ship?
1) Gallente Hyperion battleship will be losing turrent slots.. since ive bought and fitted a ship with 8 slots and these will go down to 6 slots in the change.. will my ship just drop off the 2 extra turrets i currently have? will i lose my guns?
2) What is the Maxium and i do mean Maxium DPS i can get out of a Hyperion, Megathron?
3) whats the real difference between a reg mega and a navy mega since they're now getting "roles and combat roles"?
4)should i go for Blasters or Rails for a Gal Battleship? since it says it can use both..
seeking this info cause i want to L4 PVE mission running.
also what skills should i really really really have at level 5 for these specific ships. seems everything is all over the place.
thanks for the kind responses

Well last time they changed the number of slots of me my ships just had items offlined or in red on the fitting screen and could be unfitted, no loss of module.
Can't help with the other questions. |

Erm. 6 neutrons, 7 Cormack's magstabs, Void, Pashan, LH-1006: 736. Ship bonus: *1.5 = 1104 plus drones on the Hyperion.
7 neutrons, 7 Cormack's magstabs, Void, Pashan, LH-1006: 858. Ship bonus: *4/3 = 1144 plus drones on the Megathron.

We don't know yet. Navy BSs haven't been rebalanced yet.

You could put any gun up there. But since you're doing missions, you probably want rails most of the time. Fit a MJD in mids to keep range. There are certain missions that lend themselves to blasters (Damsel....) but you have to be pretty much on top of your target to make them work in missions. |

4)should i go for Blasters or Rails for a Gal Battleship? since it says it can use both.. 1a. The turrets will still be there after the patch goes through... they will just be highlighted in red on the fitting screen and you won't be able to undock until all the red highlights are gone.
2. Can't answer this as I don't have the experimental fits loaded on EFT.
3a. If the changes go through as is... - the Navy Mega won't change. Its rebalance hasn't come yet. - the regular Mega will have a 1 low slot advantage over the Navy Mega but won't have the "utility" high slot or the extra mid slot that the Navy Mega offers.
4a. If you are running missions then railguns will be your weapon of choice. Range is [almost] everything in missions.

The current version of EFT doesn't have the proposed changes to the battleships (it's too soon... there could be more "tweaks" made between now and June). However, there are some people who have the experimental ship stats ready for downloading and installation into EFT (requires a little bit of knowhow with the program itself). Not sure about PyFA. Run a forum search for the files. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

All true. But it's also really easy on a question like this (which is quite straightforward) to load the fit onto a NApoc and apply ship bonuses by hand. |

I dunno why people want to set navy megas up to do range. The dominix will always have the better overall midfield envelope (where most of the spawns are), because it does more ranged dps, and its easier to get both weapon systems on target. You can only bring 1 full set of sentries with a rail gunboat, and its a struggle to get omnis and/or DLAs on, so you always wind up with one of control range, tracking or optimal range hole with the sentries.
For my navy mega, I have neutron Iis, a faction mwd (to minimise cap penalty), and a heavy cap booster and heavy drones. It will not do some sustained missions effectively because the MWD chews too many 800s, but for those that it can do, it is a lot of fun, and whatever is lost by burning towards targets out of effective range is mostly regained by applying over 1300 dps when you get there.
it also blaps frigates from 30 - 20km with blasters and the longrange ammo, so it is actually fairly hard to get scrammed, and it has a sufficiently flexible dronebay for it not to matter, and since its charging to webrange, it can carry drones to the fight and retrieve them if they get aggro anyway. Though I never actually remember them getting aggro, because for some reason 1000+ raw gun dps seems to preoccupy NPCs.
it also has extra armor buffer compared to other ships - probably an overlooked stat for PVE, but useful for this one boat and setup.
If I'm in the mega burn and blast mood, then I'll use it for anything but the few missions the cap won't hold out for, and I'll use the domi for those it can't do time effectively.
