Uhhhhh.
Okay. Let's say you are mining in the real world. You extract one tonne of gold ore from the earth. As you well know, ore is mostly crap you don't want, containing a bit of crap you do want. Let's say, in your tonne of ore, there is ten kilograms of gold.
Now, let's say you attended Hogwart's Academy for Magical Gold Miners. Let's say you took the Gold Medal in the Gold Mining Olympics in Goldville, Goldland. Your dad was King Midas and your mom was Goldust from WWF, and when you were born, a gold fairy (not Goldust, a different one) sprinkled magic gold fairy dust on you to bless you with the ultimate in gold mining powers that even god himself in all his omnipotent might could not rival.
Guess what, you're not getting 11 kilograms of gold out of that ore because 10 is all that's in there. Do you understand why you can't get 105% yet?

Just to clarify : "100%", in common useage means "everything".
So you want to be able to produce minerals out of thin air in otherwords. There is a skill to get you past 100% refine but it isnt in the game yet. Its called "magic".

I understand what BrotherGrim means, I think. He used the example of pyroxeres, that once upon a time it was a bland basic ore. But then some genius discovered deep core refining that managed to extract the tiny amount of noxium.
What BrotherGrim means is that by training an "Intensive Refining" skill, new minerals that are locked up in compounds and alloys would become accessible.
This is realistic, and could possibly work in game. However currently, when you have the right connections and skills you can extract every single crystal. Although his idea is good, currently there is no way to get more than the amount that is listed in the server database.
It's a good idea. It's just not in effect at the moment.

He's got it backwards I'm afraid...What Grimm is advocating is what reff eff is for. And besides, the base isn't 100%. The base is the yield without skills. That's what skills are for no? To increase the basic yield.

Actually, this seems more like a joke thread... I can't believe that he's serious... if he is, then someone (cough) is definately lacking some basic school education here :|

This post is clearly just a wind-up
Oh well, funny for a few minutes. The Brothers Grimm were known for their fairy tales after all.

Bumped for humor
At this point I must assume it was a joke thread, but a good read nontheless.

I think what Grim is going for, or should be going for, is the fact that as your skills increase so should the yield. In real life you cannot ever get 100% of the gold out of the ore it is not possible. In the game the higher your skills the more that should be returned. It should be a exponential decrease for better skills. The idea that with the right skills you could "pan" for as much gold as if you had a smelter is lame. You should be able get 100% only if you have every skill regarding the ore you are working with and a 50% station.
Just my 2 cents.
PS If you reprocess an item you wouldn't be getting back 110% because it is not refining. There you would have the 100% already set. |
