I've been roaming around now for a few weeks, trying to find decent places to pirate, but so far literally all I find is either:
1. Other Pirates 2. A noob or two 3. Gate Camps And most common of all, 4. Haulers just camped out in a moon pos
The forth annoys me, nothing worse than finally pinning someone down with your D-scan, just to find them sitting all snug within a bloody pos, before getting insta owned by missile batteries.
So, while i'm not asking where you yourselves pirate, how do you go about finding a decent place? |

Because real pirates always warp to moons ! Also: you might need to update your overview to include a pos?

For the most part in eve Piracy = gate camps. But if you intend to hunt solo then i would go looking in places where folks are likely to think they are safe enough to rat safely. I used to solo hunt frequently in a small cluster of low sec systems near amarr that was basically a dead end surrounded by high sec with like 5-6 systems in it. The one next to high sec was called Teshcat or something along those lines.
I have no idea what it is like today. That was a couple years ago at least when i went there. But i was getting one or two belt ratters a day in that pocket. Nothing spectacular. But there is nothing quite like owning someones battleship/battle cruiser with a t1 cruiser which is what i used to roam in.
One funny story is a good example of what that place used to be like. I was roaming in there one night and I actually had some war targets (we did high sec war decs then) that were hiding in there as well. I kept seeing this one harbinger on d-scan but couldnt seem to locate it. Turned out it was sitting afk on a gate i hadnt gone thru for several hours. I was bout to dock up for the night when i found it. I convoed the pilot. Afk. So i proceeded to bump it off the gate with my vexor. It took like 30-40 bumps to get it far enough away from the gate guns for me to kill it with out getting owned by the gate guns. Meanwhile my war targets were coming in and out the gate watching me and laughing. |

Fact is, if you really want to be a pirate, the richest opportunities are in highsec these days. Everybody in highsec is flying around in blingy ships and totally unsuspecting that somebody might come along and do bad things to them. There are all sorts of clever ways that you can take advantage of this.
If you are set on lowsec piracy, the most profitable way is probably to hook up with a gatecamping crew in one of the highsec entry systems. Alternately, you can get good at combat probing and find yourself a nice quiet lowsec pocket to farm where carebears come to run exploration sites and missions. This does require a degree of patience. Join the Revolutionary Front and liberate New Eden from it's stuff.

You're doing it wrong, Oh Brave Newbie.
To be a succesful pirate nowadays you either form a gank squad and hang out in Jita/Dodixie/Amarr/Rens looking for fat targets, or you join some trusting corp and awox their shiny Orca's and Hulk's.

All "piracy" really means most of the time is "pvp in lowsec". So be prepared to fight other pirates and pvp'ers way, way more than actual pve'ers who are mining or missioning. If you train up your probing skills or make a probe alt or get a friend who can probe, at the very least you can scan down and kill/ransom people who do mission in lowsec which isn't THAT uncommon. Nobody ever mines in lowsec though... at least not anyone sane and probably not in a location that is busy.
If you just want PvP in lowsec, try these systems and the areas around them:
Ishomilken/Mara Amamake/Egghelende Old Man Star/Heydielies Evati
Also wherever FW is active you will find people who want to fight. Chances are they will be in a big blobby gangs though so it's safer to fly a small ship and try to gank people running the plexes where it will take some time for their friends to show up and they won't be able to bring anything too nasty in with them. http://evenewb.blogspot.com/ |

are systems where you will find fast and ruthless ****. If you like to fight 1 vs 20 with logi and more ECM than DPS - its good choice. If not find a system with good traffic, hisec access nearby ( best done with DOTLAN maps), not populated by other Pirate groups with clone and repair services on station. If you find such system stay there for a week, dont fight just fly around and try to figure out who is who in this area. Try to find out in what direction most ppl is going. Learn who is resident and who is just passing by - thats most important thing - >>>Knowing your local <<<. You really dont want to engage a guy who has 20 mates just one system away and without living in specific area you will have no idea bout that.

There are plenty of targets who are stupid and let themselves get separate from their blob or are out roaming a few systems away from those main hubs or are in FW plexes alone, etc. There are certainly blobs there but there are blobs in any populated system/region. Learning the situational awareness to avoid getting ganked while finding smaller engagements is part of living in lowsec and roaming solo. http://evenewb.blogspot.com/ |

Piracy has many meanings. I'm assuming you mean as in 1v1's or a gank in which sadly you are looking for a form of Piracy that's been pretty much gone since 2006-2007. Your best bet is to just keep looking. You can go hours without finding something. My best advice is to shack up with other like minded degenerates and go roaming, pillaging etc.
It's always fun going into null sec and screwing with blobs and carebears too. Oh the tears. |

Good Sir;
I don't pirate, but I see them alot in the FW plexes in and close to:
Siseide (next to) Dal (next to) Amamanke
Here is what you do (even with a big ship):
Go to Siseide. set your DS scan to cover the small and novice FW plex. wait 6 to 7 minutes for a ship to arrive. give it about 35 seconds to start the jump into the plex. warp to the plex entrance (0 km) and wait. Somebody comes to kill the mimatar plexer. you kill them.
Move to Dal and repeat.
The point is you can't get into a novice plex with a good ship, but you can wait at the door. Don't go to amamake from any high-sec spot, it is camped all too often.

Besides his robotic voice (horrible mic?), he actually sounds like someone I'd vote for. He lays his points down very logically, easily deals with counterarguments, and in general seems to understand some of the problems in EVE (principally, high sec being too rewarding for the risks involved). His whole New Order movement might be a annoying campaign for some, but the idea behind it is quite sound. People should look into it before trashing it...though I agree his followers are over the top.
As someone looking to do more low-sec small gang pvp, I really look forward to high sec changes so more pve moves into low sec. I have a lover, her name is EVE. I see her every night and all she asks in return is that I have a pilot's license. |
