probably if I ever decide to fly capitals, I will get a cyno alt, but its unlikely, probably will ask a corp mate to cyno for me, after all... playing with yourself on a MMO sounds sorta idiotic to me.
But it is a fantastic way of passing the time whilst gate camping. However the FC can freak out a bit if you forget to release the push to talk switch....... Come on now, hasn't everyone done it just because an actual IRL girl is talking on teamspeak?

Yes, one character and no alts here, though I don't often have to solo since my corpmates are usually keen to throw down. Wouldn't know what to do with an alt even if I had the ISK to pay for it. |

Been playing for more years than I care to admit, and I've multiboxed with multiple accounts with multiple alts. Not anymore. To me it's just not cost-effective these days when you can just buy some plex and be an instant multi-billionaire for less money than it would cost to pay the monthly subscription fees to skill up your army of alts high enough that they can start bringing in the isk themselves. On this account I have the alt spaces filled but I built them just because I like creating interesting portraits. Never used 'em that I can recall. I get into PvP and wardecs with my corpies just fine with one character and I have plenty of isk whenever I need it. |

and so far, I haven't been impressed.. probably because I can't seem to find anything else than strategic cruisers ratting the lowsec.... |

My stubborn arse insists on viewing alts and PLEX as cheating (not that I'm against cheating). Most if not all tasks that you would use an Alt for can be completed much more enjoyably for all parties using some apt social skills. As for PLEX, in my case much easier to acquire a PLEX using rl finances vs those in eve, so PLEXing would remove some of the much-loved risk from the game for me.

I remember an article on The Mittani blog that said something about this. Something along the lines of "Requiring people to play alts for supercaps is a terrible gameplay design, but a great way to force players to pay more money" It was in less words though.
Or the quote, "CCP is less inclined to bring in new players, and more to entice older players into buying more accounts".
Honestly, almost nobody plays an MMO with one character, but the majority play with one account. In EVE however, I'd venture a guess that a good 30-40% of the playerbase have alt accounts.
I don't. Probably never will. But having simple alts on one account still has its uses.
I do see the outrages number of alt accounts as a bit of a cancer, and one of the reasons I can't take this game seriously. I'm sure most disagree with me though, as I'm sure CCP does. |

Nope, I wouldn't be able to live without my 4 alt accounts, or at the very least be able to live in null as I do now.
One account is my main and a Jita alt, the second is another combat and leadership alt, the third a collection of OOC cynos and hictors, and the fourth my supercarrier and a freighter/JF character.
I could probably get by with just my main and my mothership, but I really see no reason not to greatly expand what I'm capable of with more alts. They function pretty much the same as a force multiplier, and I'm not one to forgo an obvious advantage in a game like this. |

Just wondering, do you see that as a joke? Or at the least bit ******** on any level? Cause I feel like a large margin of people would.
Edit: I'm asking if you see the system as a joke. What you are required to do to play the way you want. |

Well what type of MMO? Some people play EvE-Online as an MMO-RPG with a single character and that is fine. However, some of us prefer to play EvE-Online as an MMO-RTS. My coporation IS my character. Don't you think each player should decide for himself how he wishes to play the game? It is a sandbox after all.
Also having multiple accounts does not preclude you from making friends. It actually levels the playing field so a small group of friends can take on much larger organizations because each player has many accounts. I see that as a good thing in my opinion. |

When I was living in null sec I only played one character, since keeping two characters going was too taxing on my attention.
As of Retribution, I generally only run one character since my old machines have delusions of being jet planes thanks to the graphics updates. In order to avoid industrial deafness I will only have one computer running unless I'm planning on AFK mining (since being AFK means I'm also away from the jet planes).
But all my accounts have three characters, each with at least 10M SP. They are mostly idle, I'll switch to one when I want a change. So instead of running missions with my missile spamming tengu mission runner I'll run missions with my missile spamming corax.

its becoming harder and harder to maintain your eve lifestyle with only one account, especially with people moving into nullsec or in general moving into a part of the game where you only PVP.
if you do pvp on the same scale as me, it requires a lot of isk and investments into getting ships and what not. I cant manage all that on one char so i have my highsec toon run incursions that way this char stays where he is at and pvps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_FJBdQUAO4 |

i mostly run missions to fund my FW fun. As i get into t2 ships, though, i realize i will need more money. Time is my issue, so i will prolly just buy plex instead of worrying on a second account.
That being said, i started the game with a second account for the isk i was rewarded, and kept it going for 6 months. I really felt like i got alot out of that char, since i didnt look with longing at other racial skills... i just trained em with the 2nd account.
sadly, my alt got to t2 lasers with a tricked out pvp oracle long before my gallente drone boat isk mission runner ever even worried about isk/hour...
sad times. Fun times. I had lots of fun making a pure dps armageddon with an energy transfer, armor logi tanking Domi and running missions. My boss had 2 alts, and we would sit in the office just alt'ing away... hahaha
EVE is cool that way.

For years I played with only one account and one character. Four months ago I got my first carrier.
The necessity of a CYNO alt was never more clear, so I now have 2 accounts. One for my main and one for my cyno alt and I have a miner on that accout too, since I only took my cyno toon to 895K SP for clone reasons. |

Pewty McPew wrote:Just wondering if anyone plays Eve on just their main with 1 account and no additional alt support?
Interesting question (That has probably been asked a few thousand times)
I have this character, my "main" that is primarily for dabbling in Industry with a nice side dish of Exploration for the next few months. But, I have other accounts. One deactivated with a pure trade character. Another on the Power of 2 promotion that is just training in the background with a purpose as of yet undecided. And another deactivated account with my Faction Warfare pilot (And almost as many skill points as this account).
I only ever play one at a time and don't use them to support each other.
Does that count as 1 main or many for the purposes of your question?

I used to run 3 or 4 accounts, using the alts as a way to make isk.
It seems so much simpler to cancel those accounts, and instead buy plex with the same money.... but maybe that's because I don't have nearly as much time for eve as I used to.
